Strength:

As above, all original(brakes have 20000km left)except rear gate struts. We are gentle drivers. Have just replace OEM tires as winter approaching.Good sound system/clear controls.Free reving engine.

Weakness:

Quality control could be better, some rough edges, windscreen cracks easily .Drivers seat can induce numb posterior on longer drives.Requires light over backseats.Sound deadening could be improved.Engine took a while to give better gas milage.

Great handling, reliable car, 80000Km,spacious, good drivers /passenger view.Swallows large dog.Drivers seat height adjustment good.

Strength:

It's small if you want a compact

Weakness:

This car is a money sucking fiend. Anything that can go wrong with it, more than likely will.

I hate this car! The brakes have squeeled since the day I drove it off the lot, my seat adjuster on the passenger side has broken off twice with barely a touch, my radio has had to be replaced (which for a factory radio seems to be standard), the tires wear too quickly, it has stalled on me (sometimes while I'm driving), the brakes obviously are horrid, and NOW my tempered glass in the rear window has shattered for no reason....TWICE in less than two months and once when I was even in the car. The glass company I fixed it with the first time seemed to think that there was a short circiut in the heating system and that it triggered the break. Ford denies this and the glass company will not honour their warranty either so we are going into arbitration to get the matter settled. I will never buy a Ford product again and have lost all respect for their name. Especially after the way the dealership has been treating my claim. Do yourselves a favour, buy an import. Domestic vehicles just don't seem to care about quality or integrity anymore.

Good ride feeling. Great engine. Looks good. Big interior space.Excellent seats...brief, fun to drive.

Weakness:

Could be better on gas milleage (doing around 30 mpg) Still waiting...I'm used to have Honda civic so...

Bought it used with 34 000 km on it. Now I'm at 41 000 km. No problem yet except for a "cracking" sound in the front when hitting bumps = coil spring problem = repaired for around 150$ CDN. Every else seems OK.

It looks great!

Weakness:

Brakes, ignition, steering, you name it. This car is trash!

The brakes had to be completely changed, pads and rotors at 20,000 miles. Have bought several sets of tires. The ride sucks. Too many recalls. Ford can do better than this!

Strength:

Comfort, sound system, handling, performance, fairly quiet, addequate baggage space, lots of room with the rear seat folded. Good head lights. Adjustable steering column and seat height.

Weakness:

Instruments reflect badly in drivers side window. Arm rest (up or down)obstructs gear changes and hand brake. Cruise control light too bright at night. Cup holders useless.

Got the car on Sept 1.As of Oct 6 have put 4200 km on it(2625 ml). No problems so far. Steers and handles well. Brakes are good (so far). Comfortable on longer runs. Good sound system (recommend the 6 stack Audiophile). Range in town per tank of gas is over 600 km. Now the engine (Zetec) has loosened up a bit, performance is qite resonable. Tyres seem to work quite well, even in heavy rain. Forget the little aerofoil at the back of the roof, all it does is suck road muck onto the back window. It's a good job the rear wiper is large and effective. Fun in the sun yellow makes it difficult to lose in the car park.

Great Sound System.

Weakness:

Room, Comfort, No repeat on CD player. Gas Mileage

I purchased the car January 2001. My second car and I thought I was getting the greatest car known to Ford. The car has had five recalls done with one pending dealing with the rear wheels coming off I believe. My ignition went out summer of 2002. The ignition froze to the point where the key only went in half way. That same summer, the keyless entry stopped woking and that had to be replaced. That ran me about $800 for both to be repaired. The barke system is faulty, to much grinding and wearing out. Car is not very spacious, passengers in the back cannot sit comfortably. Now there is a weird noise coming from the rear window. My engine light came on and the O2 sensor had to be replaced thank God that was under warranty. The car makes noises when I turn corners or stops- squeaking- like something is not lubricated correctly or sticking.

Strength:

Very nice clutch and shift, excellent sound system, bought the higher model so it is fully loaded, VERY FUN to drive

Weakness:

See above maintenance problems.

I bought this car before really taking the time to read through and research it. Otherwise I may not have bought it. I have had my car in 5 times for repairs. I've had 1 recall, a stres crack in the windshield so that was replaced, wiring problems, door latches and electrical problems with the doors, and the starter broke. Perhaps the newer models have fixed the constant problems with this car otherwise I would not recommend it.
