Strength:
None except good for cooking marshmallows.
Weakness:
Everything except not cooking my marshmallows thoroughly enough. The Focus was a piece of crap. It caught fire in the middle of our driveway 10 months after we purchased it. Neither Ford or the dealership wants to be held responsible. They have treated me and my family to say the least like dogs. Similar Products Used: Absolutely none. |

good winter handling plenty of high end power good young family car comfortable interior especially for taller people
Weakness:
minor problems lacking lower end power I have been happy with the purcase of my focus even with the few problems I've had with it. those problems being a split pcv vaccum hose, the rear wheel bearing recall, and the abs and E brake dummy lights coming on in extream cold weather. Ford service dept that I first took the car to for the recall was of no help what so ever. I took it to them on two separate days and the repair had not been performed ( broadway Ford ID). I took it to a dealer 40 miles away and had it back in a couple of hours with no problem since. For the money I spent it has plenty of room for me, my wife, and our two kids. It has plenty of power, but a little sluggish on fast take offs. It handles surprisingly will on snow and ice. I would recommend the focus to any growing family. I have had nothing but trouble since just a few months after purchasing my ford focus. From recalled parts to the car stalling I would never recommend this car to anyone. I have tried to get help at ford telling them I do not wish to have this burden any longer but I have received nothing but more questions. |

Handles well Leather seats have great lumbar support Nice sound system
Weakness:
Excessive tire wear Alluminum wheels have low integrity Scary wheel-bearing faiture Weak acceleration with AC Dealer service department attitude, "expect breakdowns" Gas mileage disappointing after other vehicles driven Bought June 15, 2002. <25,000 miles- left passenger-side wheel bearing shot. Drove cross-country in 2002, x2 with no problems. Last week, driving on Jersey turnpike in ice, sleet, rain and snow- started hearing noise from rear- lost control of vehicle due to "loose wheel". Freaky experience. Had to be towed to dealer. Occurred at 11:30 PM. Arrived at dealership @2:00 AM. Not happy; I work two+ hours away. Lost worktime next day (and a lot of sleep). Bummed ++++ Tire wear significantly greater than on any other vehicle I have ever owned. Have replaced same back tire X2. Bad wheels. Hit a minor pothole and wheel cracked. Had to replace. This represents potential serious road hazzard. Paint job could be way better for premium package. Otherwise, handles well. Gas mileage not quite (5-10 mpg less) as represented on sticker. Great leather seats, lumbar support, sound package, moon-roof. Front passenger-side window sticking when purchased; fixed post-purchase. Not fixed well! No engine problems, no brake problems. Wheel and tire stuff scary, though. Buy extended warranty or don't buy at all. I like the car, but I will quote the head of the service department at Bergy Ford, "You will have breakdowns. You should expect some breakdowns". I DROVE A 1990 MAZDA FOR 11 YEARS WITHOUT A SINGLE PROBLEM, let alone a breakdown. With 1979 VW Rabbit diesel I had one breakdown, 1989 while in Mexico @120,000 miles (fuel pump); none with Plymouth Horizons (1981 &1985); none with VW Bugs (1961 & 1962); none with 1973 American Motors Roundabout; none with 1967 Ford Mustang; none with 1969 Pontiac Lemans. Now, with new technology and a century of manufacturing behind it, my dealer service department manager tells me I should expect breakdowns. What's with that? Strength:
Roomy interior and it can turn on a dime.
Weakness:
It always stalls. My ford focus has been in the shop every month out of the seven months I have owned it. I have ran out of money to fix it, so it has been sitting in my drive way broken down for the last month. It stalls often and at all speeds and has been worked on numerous times. I have read that there have been almost 600,000 complaints made to Ford about this problem and that the focus is being investigated for it. I have also talked to other focus owners who have also told me that their cars have also stalled while driving also. The car also had firestone tires on it and I had three blowouts the first two weeks I owned the car. I LOVE my Chevy Cavalier and Camaro. I will NEVER buy another Ford. Strength:
great handling at straight AND turns by thought, absolutely the best steering feel at this size and money, very solid feel-the chassis is as if it is made out of one piece of steel, good economy in gas, great feel in transmission, good brakes, little noise, good room for passengers and luggage.
Weakness:
Needs more power, the gear ratio is too long (36.5 km/hr at 1000 rpm at 5th gear ), a better quality at the indoor plastics would be apreciated. the Focus is so underrated... Similar Products Used: 1970 Ford Taunus 1978 Opel Ascona GT/E |

Very roomy interior, it also has great acceleration and it is very fun to drive, and I love the stereo system.
Weakness:
I don't like the heavy body roll but that is about that. I was almost forced to get a new car and because of the limited funds I didn't have much to chose from. When I went to the dealership I wanted to see maybe an older camry or accord. The dealer told me about the focus i laughed at first because I am 6'4" and am a pretty big guy. I love the focus because it is a small car with big car room. Similar Products Used: none, had a Grand Marquis and an old Suburban |

Strength:
Gas Mileage: 35+ even in the city; the trunk is cavernous; factory premium sound rocks; solidly built; fast; handles, brakes, and corners great. Pretty much everything about this car is a strength.
Weakness:
None. This car is great! We bought it fully loaded, and have loved it. It is roomy, fun to drive, and quick, very quick. The gas mileage is great, too. We had a Ford ZX2 before, and that car was a piece of junk compared to this one. We have had no problems with brakes, wiring, any of that kind of stuff. We have a 2 1/2 year old daughter, and the leather seats are really easy to clean and have not gotten indentions from her car seat, which tells me the leather is of very good quality. There is a huge aftermarket for these out there, so they CAN compete with the Japanese cars. I have the 5-spead, and have beat countless Honda's and Nissan's and Toyotas at lights,as well as those sissy little Neons and Eclipses, and in distance. I've read some reviews that say this car stinks, but I have honestly never had a problem with it. Similar Products Used: Ford ZX2, Chevy Cavalier, Nissan Sentra. |

Strength:
The ride is nice, good power, neutral handling, no blind spots.
Weakness:
Interior lighting is single over head it's not enough light, and rear view mirror is small. Seating while it’s comfortable it could use some tuning. I was looking for a solid car to commute to and from work about 60 miles round trip to spare my Mercedes E430 Sport AMG. I test drove the Honda Civic, Toyota’s, and Saturn’s and a couple of other vehicles in this class. I bought the Ford Focus (2003) ZX3 with the PZEV engine package. Mind you, I don’t have all the power options, but this 5 speed is very fun to drive. I live in the Bay Area our roads are a mess and traffic can jam in California second. Personally the Focus is under rated and with the warranty I’m not worried… Good luck on your car search. Similar Products Used: Honda Civic EX |
