Strength:
Great on gas, good acceleration, easy to move about traffic. Nice beginner car (especially for females). I enjoy this car but ready to be more stylish.
Weakness:
Has a loud noise, have to manually lock/unlock doors as well as windows. Not very roomy. This was my first car and I love it. I really hate to give it up but I am tall and feel I need more room. Also the price of my escort was very reasonable and I love moving throughout traffic easily. To add, the police over look escorts so I avoided many tickets. :) |

Gets up pretty quick for a little 1.9 liter. Great on gas considering how much it cost nowadays. Corners pretty quickly for a front wheel drive train. With good tires the car moves like a truck. Trust me i seen bad winter because I'm from upstate NY.
Weakness:
It's a little to small. When in raining conditions if taking a corner it may torque steer a little more than any other car you've driven. In bad road conditions the car is not good on bumps. I got the car at 104,000 miles and the engine is in excellent condition. It's real a real comfortable drive considering it's my first car (I'm only 17). Great on gas. It's a very good car for a used vehicle. |

Brought with ~80K and died at ~160K after took me across the country. I liked this car after driving one from a fleet. It taught me how to repair a car since it gave me problems after buying it. The good thing is that most parts are cheaper.
Weakness:
In the stock market, F is the code for Ford. But people also say that it mean 'fail or fall' instead of 'favor'. 1. Good design

Ford Escort ZX2
Strength:
good gas mileage, good for first time drivers, small so it's good for city driving, affordable for the time driver
Weakness:
horrible vibration at idle, brakes suck, for should have spent some time working on the idle i had a 02 camaro and bought this from the dealer i was working at cause i was moving out of my parents house and needed something more affordable. this car is ok i guess. going from a camaro to a zx2 is hard but the gas mileage isn't bad and the car so far knock on wood has not given me any problems. i bought the car with 25,800 miles and it now has a little over 42,000. i've just done your basic oil changes and coolant and trans services to it. the idle quality sucks however and i do not like how Ford just pretty much shrugs it off and says it's normal. the tsb for the vibration at idle does not work. it has been done twice to my car and i have seen no change. Ford you need to spend more time with the car. as soon as i can afford it i'm getting rid of the car. it really isn't a bad car but i just can't take the vibration at idle once it warms up. it is a good car for first time drivers. i don't have ABS and it just feels like the brakes suck. i replaced my front brakes and adjusted the rears and it just doesn't get better. i'm a ford certified mechanic so i've done the work myself. talking to the older guys at the dealer most have said you basically have to deal with the issues cause there's nothing you can do about it. what the hell Ford?! now i know why i'm a chevy fan. i went through the Ford asset program so i bought the car figuring i can work on it but now wish i went with a cavalier or civic. Strong engine...
Weakness:
Not big enough to stretch out in to take naps at rest stops. I bought this car not because of what it was. But more like I needed a car because my other car just collapsed. I needed an economy car for work. It only 53K on the O D when I bought it. It filled the bill. At the time I was commuting between Pasco, WA and Redwood City, CA. Every saturday I was either heading north or south. For 6 years I did this commute AARRRG! Glad thats over with. Freeway I was getting 33-36mpg in cooler weather, during the blistering heat during the summer i was getting better than 42mpg average. I installed a cruise control after i bought it. It had no AC/PS. Just an AM radio. After it stared to over heat in the mountain passes in -25 degree weather. I replaced the radiator with a larger one from an Escort that had an AC. After that I never had a temp problem! I used Castrol GTX and motor honey for thickness all year round. I stared using Dura-lube after about a year of driving and my mileage improved then. Around 160K miles I lost my aircleaner at a rest stop when I was changing my oil. I never replaced it. So for the remaining 100K miles it breathed in everything. Even at the end of its career hauling me around it still got 30- 35 mpg around town and pushed 40mpg on the freeway. Of course it smpoked a little bit, Okay a lot! But thats from all those miles with out an aircleaner contributing to that issue.
