The new era of luxurious life came to me with this CAR....Neon. Really, it is a beatifull car, both in design and performance, interior and exterior. As most phlosofers affirm, the things are estimated by compared with the similar things. Applicable for my case.. I used to have Merc with so-called 280 cubic sm engine. Seems powerful, but only seems. While driving you wish to call on Shtutgart mechanics- what a shame. My Neon with 2 liters demonstrates huge power leaving far behind Merc kicking from start. Yeahhhh... splendid.. I love my Neon.

To many to explain

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS CAR !!!!! There are just way to many problems with it old or new. I have just had my car a year and have had endless problems with it. They use cheap breaks and rotors when they make the cars. My brand new car had a huge leak in the trunk. The transmision is bad and they cant repair it. The entire car rattles. And then when you take the car in to have the repairs made they tell you they cant find the problems even though they take you for the test drive and acknowledge the problems. Then to add to the problems their customer service is the worst.

Strength:

Plenty of space between you and windshield, so you don't feel boxed in.

Weakness:

After paying it off and the warrenty is expired everything breaks.

At the time I bought this car it seemed like a good idea at the time and for the past few years it has not had many problems, but just this past month I have had to replace the head gasket, timing belt, water pump, radiator fans and all of the sensors. It is now like a guessing game of what will go next.

Handling on dry pavement. Leg room. Look.

Weakness:

Squeeky brakes. Outside noise. Lack of quick acceleration. Body integ.

The car had served me well in the past year. I was worried when I bought it, becasue my friends older Neons had fallen apart. It handles fairly well on dry pavement, but not as well on wet pavement or snow. The backseat is big enough for my child to crawl in and out of easily without my legts being squashed. The seats are fairly comfortable, but could be a bit wider. I bought the car used with high milage and haven't has any problems other than squeeky breaks. It could also get better city gas milage. I love the rearview mirror lights.

GOD I WISH!!!!

Weakness:

THE MOTOR AND EVERYTHING ABOUT THE CAR!!

First will start off on how crappy of a car this is. Its got a monster oil leak, massive leak in the trunk causing my brand new amplifier to not work, windows not sealed at all, big rust bucket, my brake lines snapped in half due to rust & i accidently shoved a screwdriver almost all the way through my trunk. Fortantly i havent had to replace my head gaskets yet but i forsee it coming. Now my current problem is my charging system. ive replaced by alternator, battery, wires, and now on order a whole new computer for the car...maybe that will fix it. BOTTOM LINE...DONT BUY A DODGE NEON, NEVER, EVER. AND IF THER ARE ANY 16 OR 17 YEAR OLDS READING THIS AND THINK THIS STUFF IS NOT TRUE OR IT WONT MESS UP ON U...IT WILL, I DONT CARE HOW BAD U WANT UR MOM OR DAD TO BUY U THE CAR JUST CAUSE ITS KITTED OR HAS RIMS OR IS TURBOED.....NEVER BUY IT...NOT EVEN FOR 500 DOLLARS!!!!!!!

Strength:

Totally reliable (start up engine) under adverse weather conditions. Starts up like a charm even when it is 20 degrees below. Never gets stuck in snow and handles high winds famously!!! Excellent drivability under adverse conditions. Good visibility of rear traffic.

Weakness:

Suseptible to oil leaks and having to repair/replace head gasket. I was not amune. Also the "squeeky" brakes. I heard that the Neons are famous for this because the manufacturer decided to use metallic brakes. Other than that I am satified with the car. If I bought again, I'd reconsider the 2001 series. Apparently Crysler has not learnt much from the experience but time will tell. I sure hope so because this little car does drive extremely well under winter conditions which is a must for me.

For the money this is a great little car, all around mechanically and electrically. Starts up in the coldest climate and gets through the roughest snow conditions like an army tank would!!!

I am a full time college student that was looking for a I was looking around on the internet and found a blue 2003 dodge neon se with 18.610 miles on it. When I looked at the price I soon said to my self. What is wrong with it, becuase every car I had looked at for a dodge neon quoted was around 10,000 for a 02 model. I checked out the record on the car at carfax.com. it checked out with what the dealer gave me. It was a car that belonged to a major rental company in sanfransisco california.Taking a big chance I went for the deal. I flew down to vegas from elko nevada. About 450 miles from vegas. The dealership picked me up. Right when I saw the car I new it was the one. I signed the papers and out the door I went. I went to the gas station right after I left because the dealer gave me 20 bucks to fill it. At 2.14 a gal it cost me 10.14 to sill a half tank. I went to start it and it wouldn't turn over. I tought I had bought a lemon. I called the dealership and it turns out they forgot to take out the anti theft starter fuse. They guided me to disconect that device over the phone and I continued on my way home. I made it all the way home without filling the tank once. On the way home I encountered 4 inches of snow. The car handled impressivly. I have had it for about 3 weeks and havent been disatisfied with it yet. The stock speakers is the best part of the whole car in my opinion.

Safety. As mentioned it held up wonderfully in a head on collision. Decent gas mileage, good looks.

Weakness:

Little pickup, though I'm sure in buying a Neon one would not expect to be racing.

Had the neon for three years, loved it. Minor problem with the brakes but was easily fixed under warranty. Was warned not to buy this car, but it gave me no problems. Sadly two weeks ago someone running a red light hit me head on and my neon was totaled-- but as far as safety, I can't say enough. My Neon's air bags went off (the other person's Toyota Camry didn't) and the inside held up beautifully for such a bad accident. Great if you're looking for an inexpensive car to get from A to B safely, efficiently, yet still be able to drive something cute. Sporty body style and an overall great car for little money.

Strength:

-sporty shape -amazing gas milage -comfortable interior -great stereo -amazing handling -good power for a first car

Weakness:

-definitly the brakes, squeek all the time, specially when its wet out -the wind blowing through the front door windows

I have owned my neon for just over a year now, with 174,000 km and i only have had one problem with it... the brakes. The brakes are horrible they are always squeeking on me. Other then that I love this little car, it has a great shape to it with good power for a little sports car. I have heard people talk about problems with the head gasket but i have had not mechanical problems with it at all. I would definitly recommend this car to anyone who is looking for a sporty gas mileage car.

Everyone I know has had trouble with the head gasket, I haven't. Probably cuz I bought mine so late in 98. If you do have head gasket trouble, daimler chrysler will foot the bill for the job to the tune of all paid but 150.00 dollars so don't let the service manager think you have to pay for it all yourself. You don't the factory defect is covered almost no matter what the mileage. Like I said don't let the service manager rape you. Daimler Chrysler is standing behind your product for you.

I have 110,000 miles on her and she is still going strong. Unlike most people I have changed the oil every 3,000 miles and did all the work on her myself. I have gone through 3 sets of tires and at 89,000 miles I finally had to do the front brakes. There are new struts done at 85,000 miles, and I have yet to replace the timing belt and water pump which the owners manual says to do every sixty thousand miles. I am very pleased with the car. I installed the racing clutch and aluminum flywheel at 92,000 miles (the old one was still working) and have the screaming demon coil and spark plug wires. The car quit on me on the way to work last week and I took it to autozone to read the code, they told me it was the camshaft sensor. I consulted my old freind from the dodge dealer on how to proceed. He told me that if the camshaft sensor is bad to go ahead and replace the crankshaft sensor also. Something about them being on the same circuit and if one goes the other can't be far behind. This is the main reason that I posted this review is to tell you all if your neon is quitting on you for no apparenty no reason...... replace the cam and crank sensors. After I did the job the quitting stopped so that must've been the reason.
