power, this car for its class will make any civic si or standard 2.0 engine look silly, smoked many car off the road with it. mechanically sound, currently has 112,000klm 80-90miles, and have had to replace s sensor once, for $40. and the tires, naturally. nothing else, change the oil every 3500klm 25-3000 miles. i swear by this car, if you take car of it and maintain it regularly, you shouldnt have any problems with it, and just a friendly tip to all consumers, when purchasing a car new, find out on what day it was built, never buy a car built on monday or friday. should be self explanatory. as soon as the NEON SRT make production in 2002, im all over it.
Weakness:
the brakes, embarrasing at times, replaced once since new, other than that i have no coplaints. overall rating this car is great and i swear by it. i recommend it to anyone. Similar Products Used: also drove a 2000 civic si for a few months while a buddy was out on business, will stick to the neon, even though its a litle louder on the road. |

Neon R/T
Strength:
Great acceleration (0-60 in about 7 seconds), Very good handling, Leather interior, Good price, Comfortable, Good MPG, Duel exhast, 16 inch wheels, 4 disc CD changer, Very fun to drive, and its pretty roomy!
Weakness:
The only weakness is that theres no power windows in the back. I think its a great car for the price! Its much faster, better looking, and it handles better than the base Neon. The Neon R/T has the optional High Output motor, duel exaust, bigger wheels, different lights and bumper cover, and the sport handling package which makes it much better than a base Neon. I would have never got a base Neon! Sport Sedan
Strength:
Excellent handling, excellent power - the engine loves to rev, excellent room, decent looks with spoiler, sport front bumper and sun roof. Overall, a very fun car to drive.
Weakness:
Can be loud at times, but it is overall quieter than I expected when I test-drove it. I also think the suspension should be lower from the factory. This is absolutely the most fun-to-drive car I have ever driven. As I said before, you cannot find a cheaper, higher performing car. Sure, the Honda Civic Si has 160 horsepower, but that's only ten more than my Neon. And my neon cost over $10,000 less. Even if I do run into a few problems, I'll still have a cheaper car than a Civic, and still have a lot of power. Bolt on a few aftermarket parts, lower the suspension and add new rims, and you've got an unbeatable machine. I highly recommend a Neon with the sport/expresso package and the DOHC engine if you're looking for a small, fast, good-handling car. If you like to cruise in a large car and not feel any bumps, this car might not be for you. I do realize that some people do have problems and some people may totally hate the Neon, but my experience has only been good. My sister and fiance' both drive Neons as well, and there have been no problems so far that haven't been covered by warranty. Similar Products Used: Hondas and Accuras, and Volkswagens may be more refined, but I challange anyone to find a cheaper and better performing car. |

Dodge Neon Sport
Strength:
I guess the looks-exterior and I liked the interior..... at the time.
Weakness:
This car gave me MAJOR problems: Brakes squeaked all the time, the windows rattled, engine problems-was in the shop for 2 weeks one time and had problems with my transmission. ALL this in less than 2 years!!!! Well I will say this I had a bad experience with my Dodge and will never again purchase another Chrysler product! I was warned ahead of time and didn't listen. Well needless to say I learned the hard way. To all those with Neons or are thinking about purchasing one I wish you the best of luck! My warning to you is don't waste your money!!! Similar Products Used: Well after my warranty was up on the Neon I traded in that badboy so fast it wasn't even funny!! I test drove alot of cars and got a 2001 New Beetle which is WAY better than the Neon I had. |

neon
Strength:
Nice styling, good gas mileage, good quality car. Handles well and has decent power(Unlike most complainers I realize ITS ONLY A 4 CYLINDER!!!) Unless your a race car driver, most of you probably don't care if theres a slight shake like some of these people like to tell you. ( And by the way, mine was smooth at about 110 so forget about it)
Weakness:
It's a little too compact if your tall. Needs some better acceleration off the line. Had the car for over a year and have used it to travel back and forth to school thats over 300 miles away. So far no problems. I love this car and would recommend it to anyone. Similar Products Used: Chevy Cavalier. Like the neon much better. Only good cavalier is the Z24 anyways. |

Strength:
It does have leg room. But you will loose them in a head on collision!
Weakness:
Well lets see? My AC seized up cost:$700, Head gasket blew cost $800, Transmission going on it now estimated cost: $1200. The fuel fill pipe between the fill door and the tank rotted off cost:$89(fixed myself) replaced battery 3 times, brakes make grinding noise (had checked 3 times) Brakes failed 2 times cost:$300 and thats not listing the minor hardware defects. The 1995 Dodge Neon just plain sucks and so does the 1996 -1998 modles. There are too many documented problems with then and I do not suggest anybody buy one. Now I am sure there are people out there who own a hassle free one....Lucky them but the overwhelming evidence of these problems far out weighs the good ones. Do the rtesearch...You will see. Neon LX
Strength:
Surprisingly roomy, sticks to the road like a slot car, good gas milage, great sounding stock stereo. A nice little car.
Weakness:
We had an electric window problem with our first Neon that was fixed after the second trip to the shop. We have had two 2000 Neons. Both were totaled in collisions, but the passenger areas held up very well. They are very passenger safe. Driving our last Neon, my wife was stopped at a red light (with four cars in front of her) when a van failed to stop, hitting her from behind. The car was hit so hard that the four cars in front were also hit in a chain reaction. It was a six car pile up. The Neon held up very well. Both the rear and front ends were completely crunched, but the passenger compartment was intact. My wife walked away with a mild concussion. If you're looking for a safe and roomy small car, look at the Neon. We're considering a third. Similar Products Used: None |
