Strength:

this car has good pick up, roomy for its size, good design, and the price for a new car was cheap.

Weakness:

Its slow in first gear, but moves after that, as with all plymouths no resale value.

Its been a reliable car for me and its just starting to have its problems , a waterpump leak and a slight oil leak as well, but it has 142000 miles on it . Haven't had the gasket replaced yet . I changed oil every 3000 miles. The radiator was just replaced . I hope to drive it till it hits 200,000.

Strength:

The look is awesome, very sporty, nice pick-up and speed, awesome stock stereo system

Weakness:

Everyting else! The first two weeks I had it they had to readjust the brakes b/c they were sticking. Less than a year after I had it I had to replace the A/C Compressor ($1400.00), the funny thing is I had to replace it again less than a year later, thank goodness I only had to pay for labor. Power sterring pump has brokem I've had to replace the tail/blinker lights on numerous occasions, the ever so lovely wind in your ears going down the highway, the steering making awful noises, brakes front and back, terrible gas mileage, Etc........ the list goes on. A terrible car to buy I wish I had known before I bought it only two years ago.

I like the look of this car alot, but everything else is terrible, I will never buy another Dodge ever, and I am wary about buyimg any American Made car now. I have spent more money on repairs and service than the car itself. It seems like once I fix one thing, another goes bad. It's a nightmare. I love the car, and I hate to get rid of it but if I don't it will break me. Luckily I haven't had any head gasket problems, maybe the owner before me fixed it already. But in case they didn't I better get rid of it before it costs me $800+ more bucks to fix that yet. DON'T BUY A DODGE!!!!!!

Not even close to comparing to the Hyndai Accent I had, man I miss that car. I never had to have any work done to that car at all. Great on gas, great stereo, no problems at all.

Everything. What a piece of crap! It would be easier to list everything that hasn't broken!

I purchased this car used in 1996. It had 9,000 miles on it. At 39,000 miles, I blew a head gasket. The radio stopped working shortly after that. The inside trunk release cable broke after that. At 52,000 miles, the rear main seal went out. At 60,000 miles I had to get a new battery. I had to travel to 3 different places because it has some weird battery in it & no one had one in stock. Shortly after that incident, I had my brakes replaced. The back brakes had not been functioning for years & therefore the front brakes had been taking all the stress & needed to be totally redone. No turning those rotors! A tune up cost me over $200 because some pollution crap went out. This caused my check engine soon light to come on & scare the hell out of me. 2 days ago my vehicle speed sensor went out (68,000 miles) & replacing this $39.95 part is costing me over $200 with labor & that stupid diagnostic nonsense. Of course, they're not sure that will completely cure it. Maybe I'll just lose my power-steering again & slam the rotten piece of crap into a wall!

This is, by far, the worst vehicle I've ever had. It has even managed to knock my 1984 Pontiac Firebird out of first position. I'm going back to Ford trucks. Neon is NO value at any price! No one should buy this car; you won't save any money!

I've never had anything I would compare to this piece of garbage. May I suggest buying a Geo Prizm or Ford Ranger. Or perhaps a Jaguar because by the time you pay for repairs on a Neon, you could've bought one in the first place!

A nice small peppy car.

Weakness:

The head gasket went out, and that's not cheap. Payed over $800 for the repars. So far that's all that has gone bad on it, but the alternator might be going out. There is only 54000 on it and it is a 6 year old car.

I'd recommend this car to someone who wants a nice small sporty looking car, but if you are going to spend money buying this car and putting money into repairs, you'd be better off buying an import, it'll be about the same in the long hall!

Great Motor. The 2.0 Liter SOHC that I have in my car performs. I performed some modifications to the intake and exhaust. I also installed high energy plugs and wires. I'm killing Civic's and Integra's that have the same mods.

Weakness:

Transmssion, Transmission, Transmission. First gear is a dog, but second and third are crazy. I had to change the fluid in the gearbox about a month ago and that cost me $90. Power steering pump went bad 3 months ago.

With the few problems I've had with my 95 Neon I can say that this car is very nice. It's not a Mercedes, but it sure does pronounce "I'm HERE". I have 78000 miles on the engine and it runs like the first day I bought it.

I have a friend that owns a 2 door CIVIC. The Neon has a much better interior, and in my opinion, exterior as well. Steering is much tighter on the Neon. Overall, the Neon has the compact sports car market in the bag.

EXTREMELY POOR MANUFACTURING AND SERVICE FROM THE DEALERSHIP. HERE IS MY LIST: HEAD GASKET, CHEAP PAINT, LOW FUEL MILEAGE, WINDOWS SOUND LIKE YOUR FLYING A 747, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AT ALL TIMES... ETC.

I WOULD NEVER BUY A DODGE PRODUCT AGAIN, AND I DON'T RECOMMEND ANYBODY THAT CAN'T AFFORD TO SPEND OVER $5K A YEAR ON REPAIRS. THANKS TO DODGE I WILL NEVER, BUY AN AMERICAN VEHICLE AGAIN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. OH, AND I CAN ASSURE YOU NOBODY IN MY FAMILY WILL EITHER. THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF THE TYPE OF CORPORATION THAT DODGE STANDS FOR.

Yes, As sad as it sounds I absolutely hate American cars. Because of the "BUY AMERICAN" campaign from a few years back I decided to give Chrysler a chance. I bought a 1995 sport Dodge Neon with 30k miles. As soon as I reached 40k my "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" came on and my car started leaking oil like crazy. I took my car to the shop and and $750 later I was driving it again. They replaced the head gasket and oxygen sensor. Because I had read the bad reviews on the internet I knew that this was a reocurring problem. Well what do you know, 10k miles later the "LIGHT OF DEATH" came back on again and 40k later I was leaving oil puddles under my hood everywhere I went. Since the firt time I have visited different shops on 4 occasions. 1 for the gasket and 3 for the "CHECK ENGING LIHGT". Finally I gave up, my car is no longer leaking oil becuase I just replaced my gasket for a second time but I try to ignore the "CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS". Following is a list of problems I currently have with my 80K mile car: Check engine light is on at all times, My windows sound like I'm driving a 747 Boeing jet, paint is peeling all over the car, weird noise under the steering column everytime I make a turn. Intermittent electrical problems with my blinkers and turn signals and low gas mileage. DODGE SCREWED ME AND THOUSAND OTHER CONSUMERS. AND THE WORST THING IS THAT THEY ARE VERY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. I SAY NO MORE AMERICAN CARS FOR ME... ESPECIALLY DODGE, CHRYSLER OR ANY OTHER RELATED LINE. I GIVE DODGE TOW THUMBS DOWN, ON A SCALE FROM 1 TO 10 I GIVE THEM A 0. I HAVE RECOMMENDED EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN MY FAMILY NEVER TO BUY THEIR PRODUCTS AGAIN. AND THEY NEVER HAD.
