Strength:

Nice exterior lokks. Ergodynamic interior.

Weakness:

Dependability. Unless of course you're talking about it being a pretty dependable pain in the back side.

This car was great, for a while. As it turned out it was a very short while. Purchased used with fewer than 40,000 mi. Problems began soon after purchase. First the A/C went out with a cracked compressor housing. Then it was starting problems, which were never solved. This car just decided it was not going to start some days. Next it was the first of 3 front brake jobs. But the brakes made all kind of noise even right after the pads were replaced. Next came a broken inner tie rod end. Then the check engine light came on for good. Bad plugs and wires I was told. Replaced them. Problem not fixed. Bad EGR valve. Not fixed. Finally we get the big news: blown head gasket. Finally decided we'd had enough. Just finished trading it off. Resale value of this car is a joke! We went to five different dealers and no one was willing to give us even half of the book trade-in value!! And they didn't even know about the head gasket problem (which we decided not to fix). I have been absolutely disgusted with this car. Every trip to the dealer cost over $250, usually way, way over $250.

Strength:

Good handling, adequate performance, decent stereo, peace of mind and safety for my wife...who drives it.

Weakness:

seats not quite as comfortable as I would like. A lttle too much wind noise.

Very satisfied with the vehicle. Had 38,000 miles at purchase...now 103000. A little disturbed with the tuneup cost of $500. Bad placement of the fuel filter requiring dropping the gas tank. Big problem, I suspect, is dealer repairs. Took it to a dealer on Merritt Island. Quoted 100-1900 for repair. Got a second mechanic opinion. He found a loose spark plug. Recommend this car....not the dealers.

Strength:

The stereo is a great one and the car looks great.

Weakness:

Too many little problems that lead to larger ones. Anything that deals with the enginge will cost because the top of the engine will always have to be removed.

This was an alright car until about a year ago. And in a years time I would never get a Chrysler again. I had to get a whole new motor last year at approx. 93,000 miles, there was no warning my car just stopped. Now it seems my check engine light stays on, the oil light flashes, I have same problem with a slow leak in the rear tire. I've been reading several reviews and most problems that others have had I also see majority of those problems. I've seen quite a few transmission problems, makes me want to hurry and trade in for another car before I get that problem. Thanks for the internet I probably wouldn't have known that it's not only me with the problem car.

repairs and dealers who cant findthe problem

Great looking car - rides nice - great stereo - BUT I purchased the car used 18 mos. ago with 21,000 miles on it. From day one have had two noises in the front end which no amount of time in the shop has fixed. One being when turning right and the other over bumps. The dealer has blamed these on everything from the "brake pads coming lose from their mounts" to replacing the control arms. Even my imagination - still the problem persist. I have recently had to replace the front tire on the driver side because it wore funny and the belt broke. Also have two transmission leaks - one in a line the other in the celinode. My feeling is this is a lot for a car with on 48,000 miles on it.

Strength:

Great stereo system. I found that it was very simple to take out the interior to run wires for my compitition system. The rims that are on it look good. It handles perfect, and looks great. Very nice interior and very roomy.

Weakness:

The brakes SUCK, they tend to make alot of noice even after redoing the brakes and all. Parts are very had to get ahold of. I dono who made this car but they are not that smart. I hate that the battery is in the fender, that makes it almost imposable to change. The trani is my worst prob, it threw it down into first gear while going 40. As soon as i went to slow down it jumped down.

The car is pretty good. for the first 5 months it ran great but after that the trani decided to stop working. it had 96,546 miles on it. Other than some body work that i had to do the car was in good condition. Not the worst car but the cost of the stuff that is bad does not equal out the cost of the good

Strength:

Very roomy, great audio, power package is nice especially when its standard, great on mileage and gas.

Weakness:

Brakes are a little weak at times

After reading the reviews for the Cirrus, it seems that when there are major problems its either before the 1998 model came out or that it was used. Buying a used car you have to figure the person before you probably didn't take as good of care of the car as they should have. I bought my fully loaded Cirrus in 1998, it now has 67,000 miles on it and runs perfect. It handles like a tank in bad weather and the only major problem that I had was a transmission line had to be fixed. Not bad for the many years that I've had it. We travel alot with this car and it is always performs perfectly. Many compliments on the look and space of the car. I'm happy with my girl. Race her against a BMW and you'll be happy too!! The only complaint, her trade in value is now only $5,000, kind of sucks. But she'll be with me for a few more years. Thanks

Strength:

The car has great extras, but they don't always work.

Weakness:

ALmost everything about the car. See review.

I would not recommend this car. I bought it with 52717 miles, and within the first 2 months, the transmission, front axle, calipers, brakes and tires went. After a huge fight with the dealer, they would not fix this car. I finally got that taken care of, and my engine light came on. The car then had 60,001 miles on it, and it was time for a tune-up. The engineers of this car made a practical joke of the tune-up, and placed all the wires, hoses, spark plugs and other necessary parts under the engine. It cost $600, mostly for labor, to have the tune up. THen the brakes went again. Apparently, the calipers rub on the front brake pads and wear them down. Even with new brake pads, the brakes squeak. And the wires under the hood chirp. I always feel like a bird is caught under my hood. I am trying to sell this car, but feel bad for whoever gets stuck with it. In addition, the seat heaters no longer work. The leather seats are starting to crack, and always look dirty, no matter how many times I have the car detailed. The car sucks in bad weather. COnsidering there is front wheel drive, I am always sliding in the snow. The rear window motor broke already. The car hardly ever wants to start, and when it does, the engine is revving very high. This is supposed to be a luxury vehicle, but I am afraid to go out in the car for fear that I might get stuck somewhere.

Weakness:

Me. For not doing the homework before buying this lemon.

Warning !!!! The Cirrus is a tickng timebomb waiting to distroy your sanity. This car has had major transmission problems that the Chrysler Company knows about. The onboard computer will put the car into 1st gear at any time and at any speed when this transmission problem raises its ugly head. Proof of how bad this car is? Paid $19000 at dealer in 1999, and in 2002 the car will only trade for $5000. stay clear of this model and the less expensive models of Caravans. (Same problem)

Strength:

Great stereo. Lots of horsepower. Comfortable. Manuverable. Trunk lid flips way up out of the way.

Weakness:

Sits low. Possible more pending engine/distributor problems? (will find out next week). Hopefully not a leaky gasket in the engine...since it's coincidence of a small oil leak and hesitation.

Bought the 4-door Cirrus LXI used with 34K miles on it. It was fully loaded with exception of no sun roof which we added. Great stereo with 6-disc CD...the rear dash speakers really give some great bass. When I drive the car (my wifes), I do so mainly because of the stereo! I've always liked the car, just sits a little low for me. Car wouldn't start unexpectingly at around 49K miles...ended up being a bad distributor module...a $700 part. Took almost 6 hrs labor to replace. $1600 repair. 2 days later, car wouldn't start again. Had it towed back to dealer, battery bad. Tech said probably damaged due to related distributor. Now, at 53K miles, it's starting to hesitate and almost seem to want to stall, and I've noticed a small oil leak from the front of the car (on the garage floor), and appears to be coming from around the water pump cover area. It goes into the shop in a few days. I hope this isn't another $1600 repair. Bought it used in '97 with 34k miles, and in Dec '02 it only has 53K miles...an average of 7500miles/year. Overall, I like the car. Lots of pep with the V6 2.5. Delay wiper switch appears to be intermittant but I keep RainX on the windshield so wiper use is minimal. Had to get new tires awhile back due to wear, but mainly because we kept having trouble with one of the tires always leaking air due to poor bead-to-rim contact. Have had intermittant trouble when turning car on, weird electrical things happen...no lights on the radio, no blinkers, and a few other minor electrical things that would happen at the same time. Turn key off and back on, then everything came back.
