Worst car mistake I ever made. Question: how many cylinder head problems can a car have in one year? Chrysler cars = many. On my third trip to the dealer in one year for cylinder head problems At 53,000 miles, encountered the first problem. Replaced the cylinder gasket. At 62,000, still leaking oil. Replaced the gasket again, now $850.00. Two weeks later, still leaking oil. On my way back to the dealer. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Looks nice, but that's about it.
Weakness:
Many, many problems - mechanical and electrical!!!! And I'm not alone. Well I've been investigating this Chrysler I own and it looks like many people with any kind of Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge have many problems with their cars as well. On the internet there is plenty of information that shows Chrysler just isn't reliable at all. Chryslers' most popular problems: Bad transmissions (all A604 or 41TE, there the same thing), bad ABS systems, and bad AC's. I've personally dealt with all of these problems. Currently I'm trying to get Chrysler to pay for their wrongdoings, I've got a transmission that needs to be replaced, ABS light that won't turn off (brakes also don't feel reliable at all), I have replaced the brake calipers once (may need it again soon), brake pads 5 times, rotors 3 times (brake problems all within 1 year time frame), have a crazy AC, door locks inoperable, replaced water pump, replaced catalitic converter, manifold, spark plug cables burnt out 3 times in 6 months, and replaced motor mounts and transmission mounts (engine made loud noises on bumps and stops, it was totally loose!). I have cared for that car better than any car I've ever owned, I know I did not cause any of these problems. Check the net if you don't believe me, but I will never again purchase a Chrysler, Plymouth, or Dodge (all the same, just a different name). Oh, and one last thing, all these guys who approve of these cars all seem to have owned their car for a year or so, of course, these cars don't start giving problems until after the standard 3 yr/36000 mi warranty is up, so why would you take their word for it? Cirrus LXI 2.5V6 (the one w/o backseat headrests)
Strength:
Looks, the power when the sun goes down and it's still light out, Factory speaker locations, Handles very nicely at normal speeds up to 70, Very easy to run Power wire from battery to trunk!,
Weakness:
This will be the last year for the look of this model design, I have seen the new cloud cars and they look totally different from the ones we are all driving now, power when it's really hot out, running speaker wire to the doors, inside w/s hard to clean, it did need work all the time, but the dealer did work all the quirks out(never buy a Chrysler when it's a 1st year model like my car- all you who have already ran out and bought that PT cruiser are in for a few unfortunate surprises.) Very Difficult to find cool accesories similiar to the kind you can buy for a honda. This car was my fathers car since it's first model year 95. He has now moved on and bought an awesome Explorer Eddie Bauer and has given me the car in really good shape(aside from the dings my idiot brother put in the driver side doors w/ our 97 Continental.) He does not drive cars to their limits the way I do. Like I always say, the best time to really drive your car for performance is that time when the sun is down and there is still daylight. It's all about air and keeping that engine cool when you want to really get the most out of it. The 164-168 hp 2.5 V6 is adaquet(sq) for my tastes at this point in my life, i'm only 20. Once you make the 4k-5k rpm, the car takes of. When it's hot out, the rpms go all the way to 6k and sometimes a little over into the red when you floor the gas all the way in.(I don't like this and try to prevent it from happening.) If you drive like me, it's a very good idea to check your oil always and change it when needed, check your pressure in the tires, and other routine mateniances(sp) people usually just ignore. I put in 93 and the car accelerates a noticably tad more from a stopped postition, but my father says the computer only takes advantage of gas up to 87, I beg to differ. The car is very sharp looking, Chrysler is always a step ahead in their asthetics, this car was very very new and odd looking back in 1995. The stereo was pretty good for a stock system, but wasn't good enough for the way I listen to music. I have put in at least $1800, more if you want to count all the wire I used, kits, connectors, shipping charges, dynamat, mdf and carpet, not to mention my time and my buddys' time, into the stereo system that I have which would be audiophile grade if I felt like tearing the door panels off and putting dynamat in the doors. I always say this now to anyone putting in a stereo no matter how little it might be, purchase a capacitor and install in on your power line. You'll appreciate it at night when your bass is turned all the way up while your lights are on and your A/C is on, your amps will go easier on your alternator and your lights inside will not dim when your bass hits. The security system is only good for the keyless entry, I am getting a Clifford Intelliguard 7000 installed eventually to protect the car and the stereo. The headlights and foglights are junk at night. I replaced the headlamps with $40 9007 APC Bright Whites(PIAA 9007 bulbs were not available due to legality problems) and the fog bulbs with $60 PIAA Bright Whites along with the front cornering lights using $10 APC Bright white bulbs. With that amount of light on the road, even new BMW's and Mercedes with their fancy HID systems flash me when my lights are on low beams. I don't try to flash them back cause i'm a good driver and just keep in my mind that someone with a luxury car better than mine has the mentality of a 16 year old who just got their drivers permit and stole their parents car for the night. The leather seats are nice, but it's before they started putting in the classier looking gathered leather, my leather has the sporty pin holes in them. All and all, this car is pretty good for a person like me moving on up and just getting by with what is givin to me, I would not buy this car at all, but if you really need performance, I wouldn't suggest this car, although maybe the new 2001 models will have better performaning engines. This car is for someone who isn't an extreme penny pincher, but doesn't want to put more money in and get an Accord or Camery, or put in the same amount and get Civic si! 4 and 4 cause this car was given to me and we were talking about a new Civic si or a 98 Acura 3.0CL for me, until my dad wised up and treated himself to an Explorer Eddie Bauer! I was pissed at the very instant he made up his mind, but I am happy with the vehicle now cause it does turn heads and it is fast. Similar Products Used: Sebring, Stratus, Breeze, Accord, Camery |

Strength:
I have a Chrysler cirrus V6 and I love it power and comfortable. The stereo system is excellent.
Weakness:
You never know what is the next time it will break down. Overally, the experience I have about my Chrysler is a complete disaster. I bought it from an individual who claimed that the car was in perfect conditions. I went to a mechanics and the test result was quite satisfactory. The model was Chrysler cirrus 95 LX (V6, 2.5 L) and the mileage was 69000 miles. The first problem came within a week! Guess what? The car can not shift the gear automatically. (It was an automatic car, of course) A good mechanics told me that the computer of the car went wrong and it was no longer programmable. I changed the computer and it cost me some 600 dollars. My next problem came within a month at a time when I was driving on I-40. I suddenly heard a big sound (Like fireworks) came from the front part of my car and the car started to smoke. I was lucky enough to pull over my car safely to the shoulder and turned it off. When AAA pulled my car to their truck, I found out that the transmission fluid was leaking from the bottom of the car. No Similar Products Used: Honda Civic. I got my small 91 civic some 14 months ago and it never bring me any problem. It was extreamly reliable. However, it was not as powerful as cirrus and, less comfortable. |

Cirrus LX
Strength:
Great styling (the "nose" took a little getting used to), solid and stable handling, well equipped even at LX base-level (see below), and a torquey (169 ft/lbs) 150 HP motor that's not near as "buzzey" and "thrashy" as other reviews led me to believe. The price was excellent relative to other "last off the lot" alternatives, even considering the resale impact from its impending nameplate demise (in favor of rumored sebring sedan in '01)
Weakness:
The headlights! On dark, hilly backroads, they provide bright and wide illumination, but without any height to the beam. When driving throught short, steep valleys, the road ahead disappears. Given the cars terrific roadholding, this *might* happen at "elevated" rates of speed. Maybe it's one of Chryslers imbedded safety devices, as this only has to happen once to get your foot off the mat! The Canadian LX version comes with the 2.4l, cloth seats, disc/drum. I bought "slightly used" ( Similar Products Used: Our last family sedan was a '90 Accord. Cirrus smokes it in styling, handling, and comfort, but I'll be thrilled if it proves to be anywhere near as reliable as the Honda. It was sold at a good price with over 190,000 km's on it, and compression still at 195 across all 4. My other vehicle is a '89 Toyota SR5 X-Cab that will probably outlast me. |

Just about everything, smooth ride very comfortable and very peppy sometimes to much. But its my moms and she doesn't use it the way I do so i wrote this review. If you want a nice ride and don't mind mind some nice speed then get it. Also 10 cd changer aint to bad either.
Weakness:
Not many i can think of. Of course we got the ls series and all the options got a great deal on it. My parents love it myslef and my sister all love it. I think my parents said it was around 21,000 but without all the options it runs around 19000. I would recommend this to anyone!!!!!!!!!! |

Although I love this car i must admit it does have problems. In the past we have had Air Conditioning problems, Brake Problems, Fan Belt problems and today i spent $950 cdn. on a new distributer. Although all these problems occur, I do love this car and I think every car has its problems, so if you want to buy a Cirrus....go for it give it a chance! If i were to give my Cirrus a rating out of ten, I would give it a 7 or 8. Its a reliable car and not to mention is quick for a luxury car. To this day I am still impressed with this car. The brakes! I go to stop & it feels like they skip. then in the winter they squeak. The windows leak a little when I go thru the car wash but not all time. So far the only thing that upset me is that this afternoon I found out that there was a recall in July 2000 about the brake system now I've called 2 dealers & they've never heard of this so where do I get a copy of this recall so I can have the brakes worked on? Otherwise I just love it Similar Products Used: The size to my '94 Ford Tempo is much better |
