Strength:

It's a nice looking car with a comfortable interior.

Weakness:

brakes are noisey, even when "fixed" or new, they squeek; very costly repairs on even minor problems

As of right now, I don't have too many positive words for the car. I have just read plenty of reviews on this same car and to my surprise we all have the same sob stories. The brakes...the computer...keyless entry...the distributor, etc....I could go on.

I bought the car thinking that we were getting a good deal. I am a college student, and it is obvious that I need all of the help that I can get. I was looking for a low car payment, which is what I got, but the car keeps sending me back to the dealer. The thing that scares me the most is that I bought the car used...so I still have 3 more years to pay on it. The review might not sound the worse right now, but we'll see what happens in the next three years. Pray with me that Chrysler redeems itself with time, starting now!!!

Strength:

Styling, interior, fuel economy

Weakness:

Brakes, air conditioner, poor general reliability, many costly repairs

I now have 130,000 miles on the car, so I have good knowledge of the car. The costly repairs, routinely costing hundreds of dollars, keep adding up. I have replaced an air conditioner compressor, the dashboard heater controller module (its partially broken again – low fan speeds not working) but I refuse to buy another MOPAR part until I have no other recourse), water pump, oxygen sensor, etc.). Within the last seven days I have replaced an EGR valve ($380) and distributor assembly ($872). These last two billings are what prompts this message for two reasons:
First, a website for Chrysler Cirrus reliabilty reports lists EGR valves and distributors as significant problems with this car, and warn any potential purchaser to check these before purchasing a Cirrus (http://carpoint.msn.com).
Second, my distributor failed while I was going 50 mph on a two-lane highway four days ago. The car stalled and I was fortunate to guide it off the road and to a stop off the highway. I cringe thinking of some of situations where my life would definitely have been stake if the distributor failed at that time, and I’m trying to take something positive from this experience.
So I’m writing this message to warn both potential buyers and owners of this car to avoid it. It is a loser. I’m starting my exit strategy with this unacceptable vehicle. And I will never own another Chrysler product even if they somehow stay in business.

Strength:

I love the way it drives. Smooth and handles great. Great value overall. It's large and roomy for a mid size sedan. I've owned it for a while and it still runs great.

Weakness:

Well my car kind of has rust on it. I guess it's the weather that's around the pacific northwest. This is the first car I've owned that has rusted.

I'd recommend this car. It's good for just single driving or even for a lot of people. It's a great value and looks good. If you're looking for an average insurance car that looks and drives like a sports car then I say go out and get a cirrus. Make sure it's a newer on though or you'll be sorry.

My 95 mustang gt had a lot more power but it used too much gas. The cirrus lxi has a v6 and it handles just about what you'd expect. It still uses almost as much gas as my old mustang. The cirrus handles very good and except for the lack of power difference drives just as well.

Strength:

Ample trunk space for a mid-size; able to fit in golf clubs, pull cart, etc. with little difficulty. The car also is sharp looking for the price range. For a factory stereo/CD it works great. Overall my experience with the '96 Cirrus has been very positive. I like the way the instrumentation panel is laid out and really like the "theater" lighting.

Weakness:

I haven't had nearly the repairs needed by others who have reviewed the Cirrus. Have had the brakes replaced more than once, as well as some rotor problems. Nothing huge for 108,000 miles. I religiously have the oil changed every 3,000 miles and "the guys" get a chance to have a look and make sure it's okay. Recently had the timing belt replaced, and the water pump as well as a wheel bearing.
I think there is quite a bit of road noise; it's fine when you're alone and you can crank up the tunes, but when you have passengers it's annoying.

Being in Iowa, I don't feel the heater is designed well. I've had it checked to see if there is something else wrong, like the thermostat, heater core, etc. and they've run out of things to check so I'm stuck with a less than ideal heating system for winter conditions.

Stupid little design flaw - the steering wheel adjustment deal. After you forget to put it up the first couple of times and permanently bruise your knee you'll start remembering!

No serious complaints. Though I hear awful things about Chrysler/Dodge products I would buy another.

Strength:

The car seems to have an excellent heater and air conditioning. I also like the factory speakers, I was surprised they have as much bass as they do. It has nice pick up and go for a small 6 cylinder engine. I like the interior, but wish it had electric seats. It is a little better on gas mileage than my previous car.

Weakness:

That you manufacture the rear tailights out of aluminum and they can not be repaired. In order to switch my turn signal light in the back, which was not burned out, I had to buy a new component for $4o. It was a new job for my mechanic whom is a mopar freak.

It is the first nicest car I have purchased. I was happy to buy a car with only 60,000 miles on it with an extremely nice body and interior. I would like to thank you for not installing an ash tray. It really helps inforce the non-smoking rule.

It is better than a Ford Thunderbird who was beginning to fall apart on me. I like it better than my Grandma's Buick LeSabre which feels like riding in a bubble.

Strength:

This slow, cab forward-no interior space, horrible handling, fuel guzzling, stalling, transmission fluid dripping piece of trash has no strengths.

Weakness:

Stalls repeatedly. Getting ready to drop tranny anytime now. Guzzles fuel like an 1989 Mustang. Underpowered and very slow-160 hp...puh-leez, lets check the dynometer again big guys. Horrible fit and finish. Typical cheez-dick Chrysler product. You wonder why they can't sell a car...crap like this is why. People gave them a chance because their cars were styled in an appealing way. Underneath the skin beat the heart of a dodge diplomat. I guess the consumer has caught on, these Chryler products are worse than Hyundais across the board, every single model. I feel bad for those who lost their jobs, but I feel equally bad for those of us who invested our hard earned money on trash.

Friends don't let friends buy Chrysler. REMEMBER THE DODGE ASPEN WAS ALSO THE MOTOR TREND CAR OF THE YEAR! All Chrysler products are terrible. If not for Daimler they may have gone out of business this year. I am wary of American cars in general, but am dead set about even depending on Chrysler to get me to the grocery store. I feel for those waiting for the BO Cruiser. It is a Neon Station Wagon People! I wish I could choose zero stars.

Strength:

Lots of inside room for a Sub-compact. Nice sound from the 6-CD changer. The leather package and Sun Roof are a nice touch. Lots of room inside.

Weakness:

You hear transmission humming at high speeds. Told there is nothing wrong with it. Realy bad gas milage for a Sub-Compact.

This car is nice as far a looks. Chrysler still has work to do to get the remaining bugs worked out. I would suggest the extended warrenty you might need it. The steering Column had to be replaced due to clicking noise at 6 months old!! The front steering system had to have parts replaced at 9 months. The Front Brake disks have always had a rubbing noise that the dealor cannot seem to fix. This is a 2000 Model. You would think Chrysler would have made a better product by now with all the problems in the past. The Transmission cant seem to make up its mind what gear to be in during slowdowns it jumps or feels like its slipping in 2nd most of the time. I should have bought the Toyota Camery
