Chevy Malibu
Strength:
The repair bills cancel out any strengths of the vehicle.
Weakness:
Everything under the sun. Stay away from this car unless you enjoy spending your money on repair bills. I have had almost every known problem with this car happen to me and so far it has cost me around $2,500. Chevy knows about these problems because the same ones happen time and time again but the consumer has to pay for the repairs. I will never buy another Chevy again, and I'm going to trade the piece of crap in and take a loss before I have to stick another $2500 into it. Chevy Malibu LS
Strength:
its a classy looking car (for its price) it has been a fantastic car for me
Weakness:
ummm.... I have not found any weaknesses in my 2002 Malibu LS I love my Malibu! I bought it brand new with 28 miles (in July, 2002) on it. It has ran like a dream for the last 2 years- I haven't had any brake problems or A/C problems, and it has never been in the shop( until 6/2004). The only problem I have had is this: I was recently hit by another car. When I was having the car fixed the body shop did not fix it correctly, and there was an electrical problem. That problem has been resolved, and I am so happy to have my Malibu back. |

Looks nice
Weakness:
you name it. Mechanically a nightmare. The first year was great. Loved the car. Smooth ride, great sound system, overall nice ride. Then it began. Everything started to malfunction. In addition to a CD player, I have a cassette player. The cassette player stopped working after the first year. Generator replaced, power steering pump replaced, brake rotors replaced. Pads replaced every 6 to 8000 miles. Rough braking, transmission slipps and sometimes engages late. Similar Products Used: Buick Regal, LeMans, Subaru Legacy, Grand Am |

SMOOTH RIDE. POWERFUL ENGINE. GOOD FAMILY VEHICLE.
Weakness:
THE SEALS AROUND THE REAR PASSENGER DOORS DO NOT SEAL COMPLETELY. ALWAYS SOUNDS LIKE THE DOORS ARE NOT CLOSED WHEN GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. ALSO THE REAR WINDOWS HAVE A TENDANCY TO OPEN SLIGHTLY UPON THE DOOR BEING CLOSED. WOULD RECOMMEND CHECKING WINDOWS, ESPECIALLY IF IT RAINS. I BOUGHT THE MALIBU AFTER SPEAKING WITH NUMEROUS FRIENDS WHO OWNED ONE. ALL IN ALL THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN A GOOD CAR. I WOULD RECOMMEND THE VEHICLE TO OTHERS. |

you name it Like many when i first bought the car I loved it. I bought the car around thanksgiving of 2000. It was my first major purchase after i graduated college. and boy did it get schooled. Around the same time in 2001(right before my vacation) the intake manifold gaskets started leaking and caused the car to get real hot real fast. I got that fixed which wasnt covered under the extended warranty I had. I had about 50,000 miles at the time. Well on 4/19/2004 i found out the car has the same problem and the gaskets need to be replaced soon. There goes another $700-900 to fix it again. the interesting thing is that i heard chevy has come out with a new form of gaskets this year that might help the problem. but this is at my expense. They know there is a problem but wont compensate anyone by recalling these models. I will never purchase another chevy if something is not done soon. also the fuel pump went out in 2002,the ac setting will only blow on 3 or above |

Nice looking car, good interior. It ran really nice when I first got it and I absolutely loved it...
Weakness:
Brakes. I honestly cannot recall how many times I've had the brakes and rotors replaced on my car. Also, when I first purchased it, there was a "ticking" noise in the motor/under the hood that I had fixed twice by the dealership. The first time I had it "fixed", it wasn't "fixed". I was told that all Malibu's have that noise under the hood. Coincidence and funny, huh? My glove box won't shut all the way. My lights on all my program buttons on my radio have gone out and thought it was a fuse, but after reading other reviews, realized it's not just mine. My trunk is leaking. I just replaced my passenger side wheel bearing. I have replaced my thermostat 2 times at least and my gaskets once which ran me $1000.00. No exagerration. The a/c doesn't blow worth a crap. My rear suspension rattles and bangs and booms. I loved it when I first got it....great style, great ride, great everything, until a couple months later. Then it began. One thing right after another up until today.. I still have it because I can't afford anything else, and I still have to replace my brakes every 6 months and I still have major motor/mechanical problems with it. |

Strength:
Seem to have a good interior finish.
Weakness:
Defect in brake quaility. Motor has short life. Loved the car at first. Seem to have a good build quality. The first thing to go was the brakes shortly after the purchase. Then the trans started to shift funny but went away. Then the brakes needed to be replaced a second time. Then the motor started consuming oil and water rapidly. Changed brakes third time and traded car in on a Pontiac without them knowing about problems. Malibu only had 65,000 miles on it. Thought it was only fair to give POS back to them. Smooth ride, Good looking, Large trunk size, Back Seats that fold down, Comfortable Seating (I can spend hours in this car without getting sore), Sound system
Weakness:
Brakes in the wet weather (ABS constantly), this car hates the cold weather I love my car. I bought it January 2002 at 30,000KM and I now have 76,000KM I no longer have my warranty. I bought it fully loaded. I do maitenance on it as scheduled. I drive this car everywhere. I haven't had any major problems with this car just small things such as Signal problems, the "theft system" light keeps coming on. I have had my fuel sensor replaced due to a recall. This car isn't very good starting in cold weather but it always starts on the second or third time. Brakes make noises when their wet but are great stopping when I need them too. The ABS goes on so many times in this slippery weather (drives me crazy). All the ice & snow falls in my trunk when opening it, so BEWARE! I love the sound system, it doesn't sound like crap when you turn it up like most cars. I would definately recommend this to someone else. I LOVE IT! Similar Products Used: Pontiac Grand Am |

Strength:
powerful motor, good looks. I bought the car because it was fully loaded.
Weakness:
the seats are not comfortable to get out of the car. Not good if one of your passengers is on a wheel chair and tries to get in or out of the vehicle. Before you buy this car consider this: It doesn't start when it's cold outside. The tower told me I was the sixth Malibu he was towing that day. I had a big tune-up last month including new spark plugs. I had the same problem last year, (the car does not start in cold weather) but this year that problem cost me $327. including the towing. Now I have to buy a block heater and have electric plugs at work and at home plus a long cable that someone might rob. If you need a car that starts in cold weather, find something else. This car is not built for cold weather. To prove this, if you open the trunk with some snow or ice on it, it will fall right into the trunk as you will open it. Similar Products Used: n/a |

Power, style, interior design, features, trunk room, gas milage, auto headlights.
Weakness:
brakes I love all the features, the style, large trunk, interior, and little extras that are included. This 2002 model has had the brakes replaced twice, the second time with ceramic pads (all no charge). I don't like ABS brakes, especially the ones on this car. The brakes are awful in snow, slush, gravel, anything but dry pavement, and they have an awful grind in less than perfect conditions. With research I've done, most of this is due to ABS, not the car. Other than the brakes, I love everything about the car. It is awesome in the snow (until you stop), and is good on gas.
