Strength:

ease of access for someone 5.6" and ok for getting kids or picking up groceries at the local run. Gas is decent not awfull. From what I heard the the 2005 is better than 2007 model. Cabin Noice is low.

Weakness:

crumy truck space. and inability to make u turns on local streets without 3 way points. The cup holders are right on the vent dash or AC button - stupid designer ! seats are not as compfrtable. radio system sucks the bag completely.

The back hatch storage bin is lousy and very small. However for young kids to get in or out for local transport it is ok. do not count on storage though. It's easy to park but the turns are not so clean, almost like a full size sedan. I too it on a long road haul and did get 35.4 miles per gallon, which was decent but expected more. Value wise it is ok. I got in at 8,000 miles but will keep it until reach 35,000 miles. Not sure if there will be any resale value.

There are none...

Weakness:

I was not aware that the timing belt had to be replaced every 60,000 miles (which was MY fault). It is TERRIBLE in the snow...I am actually scared to drive in any amount of snow. The tires are too small, and its really lightweight- I drift all over the freeway!! I work about an hour away from home, so I do all freeway driving and I fill up every two days. There is no traction on this car whatsoever-I live on a small hill-I would not even consider it a hill, more like an upwards slant- and when there is any kind of snow, whether its 1/4 of an inch or 2 inches on my street, I sit there and just spin my tires...even in first gear! This car has been a waste of my time and my money.

I cannot believe I bought this thing. granted it was used, but there were no issues or problems with it at all when I bought it (my boyfriend who is an ASE certified mechanic looked it over). I bought it for the "great gas mileage" and even that sucks. This car is a huge disappointment and a complete let down. My 1992 Chevy Corsica that leaked every type of fluid would kill this car in a test drive.

Strength:

Great handling
Turn Radius
Small outside, roomy inside
Gas mileage
Comfy seats
Can go anywhere

Weakness:

No cruise control
Totalls easily
Sound system not great

I loved this little car. I only had it a year and a half before it was totalled in a wreck, only going 30mph, which is my only hesitation on getting another of the same car. But the front of it took all the impact and there wasn't a need for the air bags to go off because it protected the inside very well. It got great gas mileage I drove it 60 miles a day at least 4 days a week and I'd get up to 40mpg highway and around 35mph in the city. The size was perfect because it could fit anywhere and turned on a dime, but the inside was big enough to confortably fit my 2 teenage brothers and a friend in the back. The trunk space was nice and roomy I was able to take 3 of us camping and fit it all in the back and trunk, tents, fishing poles, bags of clothes, food preparation stuff, the whole shabang.

When we had a huge snow storm i put studded tires on it and was passing big trucks that were stuck in the snow going up a steep hill or on roads that still had 2 feet of snow on them. Even at a beach it was fine in the sand.

My only complaints other than the car being totalled on a residential road are there was no cruise control which got a little annoying on long trips, and the sound system wasn't as good as i think it could have been.

Worst car ever. I know the people at Chevrolet like the back of my hand, I had to visit them at least once a month. New radiator, and I am getting rid of it before I need a new transmission which is right around the corner.

Strength:

Price, size, handling and comfort.

Weakness:

"emergency spare" and some of the interior materials are not going to last long.

Exterior design- They must have put that new nose through the wind tunnel and figured it was all right but aside from that, a departure from the traditional door stop shape of econoboxes! An overall more substantial look than in the past (Geo, Swift, Spirit, Fiesta) looks less like a Chevron car now. If they change the the styling in 2 years, we may see a cult car considering the 5 year run of the original style but if they go 5 years with this we'll get bored with that too. Right now, we like it here. Big grilles are kinda retro anyway.

Interior- you can't go wrong with simple lines. The dash has a lot of unusable real estate but it adds to the larger feel of the inside. Besides any dash smaller than the Lumina's is O.K. by me.
The driver's seat is very adjustable. Basically comfortable too. The headrest is a little hard to sleep with though.
Plenty of room in front and back and if every one was under 6'2", I would not hesitate to use it for carpooling.
You can drink OR you can smoke but not both. 2nd power outlet in the console is nice as is the aux jack on the radio.
ONstar is nice especially the hands free calling. IMHO having options you have to keep paying for (XM radio, ONstar) just doesn't seem to jive with "ownership" but that's the new millenium for you.

Cloth seats vs "leatherette?" Can you say seatcovers?

The steering is sensitive but sharp and tight. You can put the Aveo just about anywhere.
Considering some of the other cars I've had the Aveo is very quiet but it does have it's own take on road noise. I think that has to do with tires that need 44psi.

I'm hoping that winter driving will be comparable to other front wheel drive cars and that Snow tires might be a better bet than cables on a car this small...

I have the 5 speed manual and it took about 200 miles to break it in to where it felt smooth. Still, each gear change takes a little effort. I like the reverse lock out shift ring.

Mileage is as advertised...so far.
I've gotten about 32 combined and that includes the times we've let it idle to ooo and ahh over it.

Reliability is something that will be discovered over time. I just hope GM honors the warranty and things should be fine.

With the remaining space, I'll wax philosophical. When my spouse and I go looking for cars, we have our own POV but when we can sit in one and look at each other and say, "this is it," the deal is done. That's what happened with the '09 Aveo for us.

Chevy will try to appeal to a segment of the population with the Aveo but it fits the bill well for anyone looking for an inexpensive ride with nice comfort features.

Style, cost and efficiency. Where else can you buy a new car for $11,300 out the door including taxes and fees. Its a bargain and should not be compared to much more expensive vehicles.

Weakness:

A larger fuel tank would be nice and larger cupholders.

This is my second Aveo. I just traded my 2005 5spd. sedan with 36,000 miles on this new 5 spd. hatchback. I had very good success with my 05 Aveo and it always got between 34-35 mpg on the highway at any speed. I never had problems with lack of power or poor economy. This has been a fun car and my new hatchback seems even better. The new car is tighter, handles a bit better and has a nicer stereo system. I also like the hatchback. I am 6'2 and do not feel cramped or lacking in legroom.

like the color. hatchback is easy to get into. Easy to drive

Weakness:

gas mileage is lousy.

I bought this car for the gas mileage. I drive at least 30 miles a day in my commute to work 6 days a week. Supposedly it gets 33 mpg highway. I drive the express lanes at 60 mph every day with 2 to 3 miles of my commute on surface streets. I am getting between 22 to 24 mpg consistently. I am very disappointed. My son is 6 foot tall and even with the seat all the way back his legs are almost resting on the steering wheel. It comes with an arm rest which is so far back in the seat it barely reaches my hip and is so low that I can only rest my wrist on it if I reach behind me. As far as driving goes it is easy to drive.

Need to lock driver's door with the key (great for those of us prone to locking key in car!!)
CUTE!
Emergency trunk release
rear seats lay flat
Lift up shifter to shift into reverse
Lots of headroom
CD/MP3 player

Weakness:

Gas mileage compared to size of the car: I get between 27 and 30 mpg...same as my larger, heavier Intrepid!
Small gas tank (about 10 gallon)
Little leg room in back seat
Have to replace whole rack and pinion if inner tie rod ends go bad.

Timing belt replacement is recommended every 60,000 miles--DO IT! Don't blame your car if it breaks and ruins your motor because you didn't want to perform the necessary maintenance! This may cost around $300, depending on where you live, my garage would do it for just under $250 (much chearper than a motor!)
I feel secure in driving it in windy conditions. I never feel it being pushed all over the road. I think it's a nice, cute car, but I probably wouldn't get another one solely because I have 2 kids and it's small and the gas mileage is too low for me. If I got 38 mpg, the small size wouldn't bother me, but I could drive a larger car with the same mileage, so why not? I do like the design of the middle rear seat belt. It has a shoulder belt that come down and hooks on one side, then hooks across the lap on the other side, so it makes it easy to put my infant's seat in and remove it regardless of which side I am on.

Strength:

nice interior with the leatherette package, stereo is tight (6 speakers 180 watts, mp3 aux input), handles well, steering wheel radio controls, decent power, like the grill its tight, big trunk

Weakness:

gas mileage should be a lot better, no power lock button, cup holders are a joke, cheap sun visors

This is a tight little car with lots of features. Odd mix though--it seems Chevy thought out the design part pretty well, but missed some basic stuff in the process. For example, I have power locks but there is no power lock button in the car. So, to lock all the doors at once, you reach over and push down the lock on the drivers door. This sends a signal to lock the other 3 doors too. Strange. Also, the cupholders are flimsy and placed in a bad spot---too close to the a/c controls.

Small and tall on the outside, large on the inside. Sounds like a Chevy commercial but it is true. Looks kinda funny on the outside cause it is so small, especially when you find your aveo parked beside some road hog suv.

Handles well on a daily basis. Has no problem running 85 mph on the freeway. Does get pushed around quite a bit on windy days---that is sketchy.

Gas mileage is rough though. For this class of car, it should be a lot better. Chevy has much bigger cars that put up the same numbers as this little fella. Whats up??

None. Well, cheap price maybe but you get what you pay for.

OH...and you can adjust the MP3 player from the steering wheel.

Weakness:

Mp3 player does not play MP3's in the cold.

Engine takes a long time to heat up.

Heat produced by engine is poor.

Interior blower fan is weak at best.

Cant lock the driver door without the key. VERY ANNOYING!

Seats feel like they are made out of cardboard. They hurt your but and your back on long drives, and you sit in a weird position. Can never seem to get comfortable.

Engine power is useless. For a 1.6L engine I think Chevy can do better than 100 HP. COMMON...look at the Honda B16 series engines. THATS how you build a 1.6L engine.

Wiper motor is weak at best. Espcially when cold.

Manual trnasmission is JUNK. Gear ratios are poop and the shifter throw is a mile long. Not only that but the shifter feels like the bushings are worn out. It slops all over the place and gives POOR feel. My car has only 6000 KMS on it.

The doors close like crap. You can tell the car is junk just by opening and closing a door.

Rear brakes stick on in cold wet weather. Nothing like dragging the rear end of your car around trying to get to work in the morning. Whats up with that? GM can you do anything right?

This BRAND NEW CAR has already been back to the dealership a number of times for warranty repairs and I have not even had the 1st oil change yet.

GM, its no wonder your falling to the Japanese market. You cant build anything right. You take the same old crap, re-badge it and sell it to poor unsuspecting people who get killed with repair bills. I cant believe in your time of crisis you released such a piece of pure JUNK to the public. Espcially after Daewoo could not even sell any. The quality of this car makes me sick!!!

What a piece of junk. Only 6500 kms on my new Aveo and I have had more problems with it than my 7 year old Honda.
