Very powerful 3.1L v6. It is also very reliable. I bought this car from my aunt, and she bouch it when it had 25,000 miles on it. 100,000 miles later, my aunt says it hasnt changed at all. If anything hte car got better.
Weakness:
Weak heat. In Cleveland, it can get really cold, and you need a strong heater. But the car was in Florida for 8 years, and just brought back in the summer of 99. I guess for not needed to be used for 8 years, its not too bad, but it could be better. The stereo also needed to be replaced. Basically I took out the tape deck, and put in a Jensen am/fm/cd player stereo. It soudns a lot better. This is a great designed car. The body looks like a race car, the engine makes it a race car, and the interior is very luxerious. The rag top gives it the extra sporty look. Similar Products Used: 1998 Ford Escort. I don't like the escort. It felt cheap to me. Its also a dog. Once you hit a low gear in that car, it takes tim to get back into a high gear or just go through that same gear. Also, |

Strength:
Great ride. Love the heated seats.
Weakness:
Problems with this car are very hard to diagnose This is a great car if you are tall like my husband who is 6'6" although people look at me funny when they find out I'm in my 20's and sold my '95 mustang for a buick. My hubby fits better. The only bad thing about the car was a month after I bought it, it started to feel like it was having transmission problems which four months later turned out to be just a failed spark plug wire. Regal Custom Coupe
Strength:
Smooth ride, powerful enging, nice looks, pretty good stereo system.
Weakness:
Suspension could be firmer, transmission could be smoother shifting, reliability needs to be better. But it is 7 years old, so I guess I can't complain toooo much! I bought my 95 Regal Custom coupe with 48,000 miles on it. It still smelled new. I have had it for less than a year and in the beginnig it was wonderful. I felt like I was driving a brand new car off the floor. While driving people look and stare as if they've never seen it before. Lately it has been giving me trouble. I've spent almost a thousand bucks maintaining it the last two months. The radiator had to be replaced, the thermostat(which cost $140 bucks) I thought that was high for such a small part, but it was positioned under the exhaust manifold, so most of the expense was labor. A tune up which cost $300. The struts need to be replaced, which the dealer I bought it from told me that I have a weird strut design that requires a cartridge replacement. I have never heard of such a thing, if anyone knows email me please! I have a feeling it's going to get worse. Overall I like the vehicle a lot. Very sturdy with a powerful engine. The transmission could be smoother, tends to shift harshly. I wouldn't mind the repairs so much if I wasn't paying a note at the same time. After paying off, will definately go back to foreign cars. Had a mazda 626(93) that was awesome!!!! Every domestic I've owned has been subpar in reliability and quality. I've tried to keep my dollars going to the Domestic brands, but after this, I'm done. Strength:
This is my favorite car I have ever had. I love the interior, it has great pick up, and it looks nice. The features are convenient and it turns well.
Weakness:
REPAIRS! I don't now if this is typical but it has been in the shop and broken down a LOT. I got a new alternator and a month later it needed a new one. The mechanic said Buicks do that. It needed a new alternator and has had multiple electrical problems. It is in the shop tonight and they are going to tear off the dashboard and try to determine why it won't make a sound when I turn the key. When they jumped it, it made crazy noises and lit up like a pinball machine. The odometer says 13 on it! I don't know what to do. I love the car and don't want a new one. I bought this car in Nov. 99 very impulsively. I had an 86 Mercedes SL roadster and needed a winter car. I sold the Mercedes and still have the Buick. I actually like it better! However, I have had so much trouble with it! Now I am reading reviews and trying to decide whether to keep it or get a new or used car and whether to get another Regal. RATING THIS CAR IS TOUGH. I LOVE IT, BUT IT NEEDS CONSTANT REPAIR. It only has 66,000 miles on it. great power and all the engineering for this car has been great. The stock cd player is great for a stock system. 16in alloys, passenger room, and nice front bucket seats.
Weakness:
factory tires (this car goes through lots of tires), some little problems like fog lights and muffler system (in my car). I bought this car brand new in 98 and am very impressed because sice then i have put 75,000 miles on it and just about everything still works like new. It has even lived through 2 wrecks with 2 teenage drivers. Similar Products Used: 2000 buick park avenue, 92 buick lesabre, lexus es300 (buy american trust me) |

Sharp looking car! Speed is great. Nice interior, power everything.
Weakness:
THE BRAKES!!! Can you believe it. I have put 8000 miles on this car and I need new brakes already. I am afraid to take it to the garage for fear that I will need to replace the rotors. Is this going to be a repeat of the problems I had with the "95". I hope not. I can't afford it. Also there is air leaks in the sunroof. With sunrook completely open and when I slow down to stop, there is such a loud fluttering noise that you can't stand it. When I call the dealer and see if they will split the cost of the brake job (if it needs new rotors), their decision will decide for me as to whether to ever buy another Buick again. I think the new Chevy Impala will be my next choice. I use to drive a 95 Buick Regal, I really loved the car interior and exterior. I started having problems with the bracks. I had to replace rotors and pads twice in 16 months. The car dealer assured me that it was just the year "95" that had the brake prolems. I test drove the used 98 regal and fell in love with it. Only 20,000 miles and the car was 4 years old. I love the style of the buick regals. Similar Products Used: Chevy Malibu |

I guess you could say that the abrasive supercharger engine is a plus. (if you want a car that drives like this, buy a Z28, I think thats who is going to buy this anyway. People who had Z28, and now have families).
Weakness:
The list is endless. Poor gas milage, understeer in corners, wind noise, abrasive shifts, small moonroof, heated seats with no auto shut off, cheap cheap leather, plastic everywhere, squeeky dash. This car is not worth anywhere near 30k. My parents bought this car about a year ago and I was sick when they did so. The car was a Joseph Abboud Edition or something, give me a break. Lets see for 29K you can get a car that does not have cheap leather, no room, and poor handling; its called a 3 series! Even a new Accord Ex makes this car look like a total waste of money. This car looks and drives like it was designed by a 30 year old American Nas-car fan! Not an engineer. Similar Products Used: Other over prices four door American cars. Weakness:
Premium gas- averaging 17 mpg needs bigger tires Uhhh???? I just bought this car about a month ago and I couldnt love it any more. I am only 20 years old so when I told them I just bought a Buick they really didnt get too excited until they got in it. Once I took them all for a ride they love the car just as much as I do. The car has127,000 miles on it . they told me it was a company car (but who could believe them) so far it hasnt caused me any problems. I love the monsoon stereo systmem and the tan leather seats. The only things that are not on it that i wanted are chrome rims and a moonroof. But I plan on upgrading to some larger tires with some chrome rims which will absoluteoly set this car off. Oh yeah, the car was booked at $10,400 and i got it out the door at$7995. Seems like a hell of a deal I hope it holds up well. I couldnt be happier with it so fa Similar Products Used: tested 99 Olds ALero-doesnt compare tested 98 Pontiac Gran Prix- Regal looked better and rode better 98 Olds Intrigue- Regal looded much better |

Its a very fast car, don''t worry about traffic and merging onto the highway. Its pretty much the god of cars, except what i mentioned above.
Weakness:
Well my car has been in the shop i believe 25+ times for minor and major things, but the warranty is taking care of that and yes i have 15,000 miles on it. To all of you, I bought the extended warranty and better believe its worth the up front cost. Overall i think the car is great, like some people said it needs some minor improvements, like memory seats, compass in the mirror, more bump out of the Monsoon Stereo (Hey i am 21 and you are only that age once), and the Stereo needs RDS (Radio Data System) built in to tell you traffic automatically...this feature is on the Chevy Caviler LS. But in another word this car also needs some stronger engineering for mechanical purposes.
