Strength:
One of the best
Weakness:
Rack and Pinion or something in front axle I think they are recalling the cars to fix the problem worldwide, otherwise, this is one of best cars on the market for its price. Fast, comfortable, safe, excellent sound system (opt for the best one with the amp), in fact the best sound system I have ever heard in a stock standard car. Beats my Saab hands down. Also, the in car phone is really one of the best built in ever. Almost a Volvo convert, however, the S40 is no where close, ride was rather bad, ended up with a SAAB. Strength:
This car has it all.
Weakness:
It's very expensive in Denmark If you want a good looking reliable car, buy a Volvo. Similar Products Used: Volvo S40. The S40 is not even close to the S80 |

Strength:
Only car we found which combined a roomy cabin, performance and style. There is ample trunk space and the seats are the most comfortable I have felt. Add in the safety features and we were sold.
Weakness:
Rear headrests limit vision when backing up. Have enjoyed the car for 9 months and have had no troubles. Good handling, quiet cabin and an excellent stereo. Great family car with impressive looks. Paid $36,420 for a 2.9 with most all options including the Arakkis rims, which look great! Negotiated the deal over the phone with Brentwood Volvo in St. Louis. Very easy transaction and they threw in a nice pinstripe job at no charge. Similar Products Used: Lexus GS300, Lincoln LS, Infinity and Acura 3.2TL |

Strength:
The motor is outstanding, the interior is extremely comfortable, and the car is great to look at.
Weakness:
The reliability has been awful. The engine management computer is constantly needing software updates and patches, the transmission has started to make a lot of noise and is hard to get into gear. I paid $32,000 for a '99 with 20k miles. I thought it was a great deal until I had to go to the dealer 7 times in five months for problems. I finally had to get rid of it when the transmission started to break. I loved everything about the car except for its reliability. Buy a 2000 model, the engine software is updated and all of the mechanical bugs have been worked out. I would definitely buy a new S80 but my wife decided to get an SUV instead. If you are considering a BMW 5 series, Lexus GS, Mercedes E class, or any other sedan, look at the Volvo, it stacks up very well in all aspects except for reliability and I believe Volvo has taken great steps to improve the early models. Similar Products Used: Audi A4 - a nice car but nowhere near the Volvo in speed and comfort. |

Strength:
Power - more than adequate. Great to drive on the freeway, will go faster than I need to with poise. Seats are outstanding for my size/shape; I can drive for hours without discomfort. Roomy in back seat (so I am told!)
Weakness:
Rear end styling is boring. Looks like a Honda. Might not measure up to BMW 5 series in handling, but price is less - since I'm not going to tear around the back roads, the extra margin in handling is not worth the extra price for me. Similar Products Used: Haven't driven many competing vehicles. Test drove 1999 Audi A6, it lacked power for me. |

Safety features and styling.
Weakness:
vision when backing up Needeed more space than Lexus coupe provided, and safety was an issue. Excellent dealer service through the entire process. Car has broken the traditional Volvo styling mold, as most clients express disbelief it is a Volvo, usually mistaking it for a BMW from the side. Similar Products Used: Traded in older Lexus SC 400. Looked at Lincoln LS, BMW, Lexus and Infiniti. |

Strength:
Strong acceleration, Good gear-shifts on the automatic, good price/value, brand name, safety, precise steering, little body roll, good overall suspension A great car for a great price. Sure beats the hell out of cars like the Lexus ES300. The Volvo has more room, safety features, better handling, and the cabin is much quieter. Similar Products Used: BMW 5 series, Mercedes E320 |

My bother & I are Volvo fanatics...always respect & admire co for its eternal emphasis on this car's many safety features, very lively peformance (T-6 turbo), interior room & comfort, style (inside & out). Even though an international co (employees), we both admire all things Swedish. Factory delivery simply a GREAT experience, a free r/t airfare + one night's stay in 4-star hotel. Great service, food scenery, people!!
Weakness:
No serious dislikes really; think the steering could be a bit more communicative & not quite so light feeling; rear quarter view, when backing up, could be better. Other than that, it's an excellent car. This is the most sumputous car we have owned...performance, style, comfort, safety -- all of a very high order. Jim Fisher Volvo an exemplary dealership -- sales & service. Paid $44,000 @ Goteborg w/almost all of the bells & whistles. |

Weakness:
Ugly tail lights! This car is a wonderfull machine! As motor trend says, "few cars can match" and "it works in extreme harmony." This car has can ever want. saftey, reliability, reasonable price, luxury, race car-like feel, etc..... I would choose this car is looking in the luxury field.
