Strength:

Great performance car for the public road. Fast, comfortable, and quiet. One of the few sports cars that is tuned for the street.

Weakness:

Useless cupholders and very few storage bins. That is all I have found so far.

I have waited 5 years saving up for this car and it has not disappointed me. The interior is well laid out and everything falls to hand once you get used to the Saab way of doing things. The seats are very comfortable for long trips although a bit more lumbar adjustment would be nice. The car is reasonably quiet so you can talk to the passangers in the back seat without raising your voice. The automatic climate control is smart enough to put enouth warm or cool air where it is needed and the system is quiet on all but the highest fan speeds.

On the road the car is a real joy. The 2L turbo engine feels like a big V-8. This car has real, usable power from 2500-6000 RPM. Shift if you want, not because you have to. That is a good thing because the 5 speed is a little slower than my Acura. I would put the transmission on par with our VW Passat. The ratios are well thought out with the exception of the large spacing between first and second. Once you are in second, the remaining ratios are right where they belong and complement the engine nicely. Decent power is available in 5th from 60 on up. The car will drive along at 50 but don't expect to accelerate very quickly. When going 70 power is great! Down shifts are optional when passing and completely unnecessary on hills. I get between 28 and 30 MPG on my car.

The suspension is on the soft side of sporty. The car tends to lean a bit on corners, however, the heeling over does not upset the car's composure. I found I initially slowed down around corners when I first got this car but quickly realized that was unnecessary. The car has lots of grip and is very tolerant of expansion joints around corners. Torque steer is noticable, but I never thought it was a problem. You will get a slight vagueness in the steering under hard acceleration, but, the wheel never tries to turn in your hands. Overall, it is much less noticable in the Saab than in our 95 Passat.

One last thing worth mentioning, this car's trunk is huge. Nothing short of a station wagon or van can touch it for storage space. When you fold the back seat down, you practically have a station wagon. If you want a sports car but still need to carry stuff, this car can't be beat.

One final note, I have 12,000 miles on my car so far and have not had a single problem (knock wood). Based on my experience, Saab's troublesome reputation is completely undeserved.

Strength:

engine (after 2K RPM), chassis, ride

Weakness:

build quality, engine (under 2K RPM) stereo, fit & finish

I would recommend this car, it is a lot of fun to drive, it hauls
a** pretty good, fuel mileage is not so good when you stick your foot
in it, but it feels very solid. the AC controls are a joke. lawnmowers
from sears have better cables in their controls. the stock stereo
is pretty weak by todays standards.

If you like DRIVING... buy it.
uf you like RIDING... buy something else.

Strength:

Smooth car with great pick-up. Good looks. Great amount of trunk space to fit golf clubs and a lot of other sports gear.

Weakness:

Ergonomically not as good as the BMW, the electric window and cup holders aren't that well-placed.

Excellent car for the money. Solid, fun, and safe. Great service as well. I went on a long trip and the car was extremely comfortable.

Model Reviewed: Saab 9-3 convertable SE

Strength:

Good power above 2000 rpm. Sport mode with TCS turned off is a blast. Great convertable top function. Looks great with top down.

Weakness:

Dreaded turbo lag below 2000 rpm. Could use a few more inches of seat travel. Not much trunk space.

I'm very impressed with this car. My wife just had to have it, and I wasn't too jazzed about it. I'm not a big fan of small cube turbo engines. The Saab won me over, awesome power from 2.0 liters, comfortable crusing, and a lot of fun with the top down. No mechanical problems thus far, a few minor cosmetics, that's all. Car's quirkiness is kinda neat, you don't see yourself coming and going every day. I wish we could have opted for the stick shift, but the auto isn't bad. Overall a good looking, fun to drive, fast, luxury car

Strength:

- Lots of power
- Well designed, very well made
- Fun to drive

Weakness:

I have not found any yet. The only thing that bothers me a bit is the water dripping out of the rear spoiler after the car is washed. For days, water is slowly dripping out. My car is black, the water leaves white stains. That's all I can think off...

A very well designed car, well made and lots of fun to drive. I would recommend this car to anyone looking for a reliable, fast, and economic car. Purchasing price might be on the high side, but the car will last for many, many years...

Strength:

SAFTEY! I was rear ended by another vehicle travelling at 45 m/h while I was sitting at a light and I walked away completely unharmed, I didn't even have whiplash. It doesn't matter how many glitches or quirks a car may have, if it can save your life it is worth it.

Weakness:

There are no storage compartments in the vehicle which leaves you searching for areas for cell phones, wallets and other lose items. The cup holders are in the worst possible location, prone to spilling. And the radio controls are not the most user friendly

This particular vehicle was my second Saab and I do not regret this purchase. I have never had any problems with either of my two Saabs other than the ignition coil failing at one hundred thousand kilometers, a three hundred dollar replacement value. I found it to be quite peppy and fun to drive. I was also quite fond of its unique, one of a kind styling that set it appart from all other vehicles on the road.

I must admit the 900 comes no where close to my new 9-5 in handling and ride comfort but at the same time I feel that it was a great car and compared to the BMW 320 i drove it felt much more responsive and just more fun to drive.
