When we bought the car, it was not cleaned up very well, when we got the car home and got it cleaned up, we discovered the passenger side rear door was a different color than the rest of the car (different shade of black) on top of this there was several paint flaws. There was also a transmission problem. Transmission did not want to get into reverse properly. Car went back to the dealer for 5 weeks to get paint and transmission fixed. We got the car back and the transmission still has problems, it will not shift from second to third, hangs up and does not go into third. We also still have reverse problems. Most of the paint was repaired, but it took a lot of work to get it right. I am very dissappointed with Ford Motor Companies Quality Control on this car. I am a long time Ford loyal customer but very dissappointed with Quality measures on this automobile. I am looking to find the right web site to tell Ford how dissappointed I am. I have owned 7 new Ford Motor Company products in the last 9 years and have never seen quality problems as I have experienced on this car. Any one that reads this review, that knows how I can send and E Mail to the Ford's quality control division I would be thrilled if you passed on the information. I do plan to keep this car but I do not plan to buy another Ford manufactured at the plant that my Mercury was made at. We have made 3 payments on this car, and every time we have made a payment it has been at the dealer getting factory problems repaired. We have owned this car for 2.5 months and it has been at the dealer for 6 weeks of that time.

Love the style of the car, handles well, great acceleration. Suspension is dynamite, and the car holds the road well. Interior is spacious and comfortable

Strength:

Value, comfort, included options(virtually everything). No front drive torque steer and buzzy 4/6 cyl engine. Great gas mileage if you remember the 60's. Use 89 octane if you don't race. I can carry my Miata in the trunk.

Weakness:

Junky Camaros won't let me alone.

I work for dealer and have waited for price to drop (bought at $10K under list). Not too many sold. One was to a funeral home. Ford rep wasn't too happy to report back home that the attempt to lower the age demographic on Grand Marquis with Marauder is now from age 68 to "dead". This car is good for: 1) Mafia hit man 2) funeral director 3) cruisin' nursing homes for babes But, I love it. The mechanics say the Grand Marquis/Crown Vic/Marauder is the most reliable product Ford makes. Pound for pound the best car value in the world. They really exist and are engineered for the severe law enforcement market. The Marauder adds a DOHC to the 4.6L (a la Mustang/Aviator),aftermarket suspension, dual exhausts, quality tires and wheels, plus many expensive appointments, etc, etc. for a solid comfortable ride. The exilarating power tug of a V8 on acceleration is appreciated by only those who lived motoring history in the muscle car era. Too,in the Marauder you get handling and all the techno developments not available in the 60's.

Strength:

Wonderful sounds, great look (check out how the car is raked) and real acceleration.

Weakness:

Maybe a little clumsy on rough surfaced corners.

I wanted this car from the day I saw the concept car at the Detroit Auto Show. I decided to buy one when I started seeing them used for a little less. What's not to like? A big american car with a real V8 and tons of room. There's a pretty good stereo and comfortable seats and it just scoots. I haven't yet met one woman who understands. Oh well, that's why they make Accords.

Strength:

The car looks tough. I like the very simple front end and black grille. It's got a nice low rumble when it starts up. Haven't broke the tires loose yet, but I do get nice acceleration off the line. It's great to know that when you hit the gas pedal, it's going to get you where you want to go w/o worrying about it. Does 65mph at 1900RPMs & 80 at 2300RPM, not even breathing hard. I love the gauge package, you know what is happening in the engine. I like the full-size spare, although I'll probably get snow tires and steel rims for the winter (Chicago).

Weakness:

Black is tough to keep clean. Gas mileage is hovering between 16-19mpg, but it's close to what the '93 Regal (that I traded in) did, so I'm griping too much. Running premium requires a bit more $$, so I have to watch where & what gas I buy. The car does get hot sitting in the sun, I'm considering tinting the side windows. The drain holes in the trunk & the doors take a long time for all of the water to come out when in a rainstorm or after a wash, it will make you nuts.

I get more looks and thumbs-up in this car than I would have ever guessed, and I STILL haven't seen another one on the road. I couldn't be happier with the car. Had the Dealership put in a sunroof, so I don't have half of the console that juts into the middle of the roof. I like the sound system with the 6-CD changer in the trunk. It looks like an unmarked squad car. I missed my old Crown Vic with the 5.0L, and I'm a big guy (6 2-1/2 275). I fit into the car great, and my 6'-tall mom fits very comfortably in the back seat. Looking forward to getting the leather jacket from Mercury.

Pricey compared to other less classy sedans.

I love this car. I traded in a 1998 C-5 Corvette fro it. I thought I already had my dream car until the Marauder. Very large, powerful, great touring car. I love the comfort, class, and agility. Couldn't ask for a better roadtrip vehicle.Being only 25 , alot of people question my owning this car. I think this is what American cars should be all about.

Strength:

Silver Color was worth all the waiting time.

Weakness:

Transmission upshifts too soon. A dealer chip reprogram would be nice to avoid the warranty issues that could be created by using the aftermarket solutions.

This vehicle has exceeded my expectations in every way. It is a heavy, strong, agile, powerful sports sedan. It is a pleasure to drive on high speed winding roads. It remains firmly planted and rock steady at all speeds, and emits a positively evil mechanical symphony when pushed hard. There is absolutely nothing that compares to it on the market today. No regrets whatsoever. Poor reviews by car magazines looking for a drag racer or Subaru WRX have hurt their own credibilty. If this car becomes the marketing/sales flop that it appears to be, we have all lost, and the manufacturers have been sent the message to produce front wheel drive transportion appliances.

Strength:

Sinister, menacing look and sound. Excellent top end power and speed. Roomy and comfortable. Handles remarkably well for a 4200 pound car.

Weakness:

A little lacking in off-the-line power, but quickly makes up ground once the tach hits 3K.

This car certainly isn't for everybody, and in fact a good portion of the public just doesn't get it and never will. But then, that's part of the appeal of a car like this, isn't it? If you're one who doesn't get it, the Honda Accord is all you. For those few of us that appreciate a big, fast, rear-drive sedan the Marauder is the best thing since Chevy killed the Impalla SS.

Strength:

Faster than my patrol car (yes you can outrun us police with it), sounds great -- not too loud... but a hint of rumble, plenty of room for 5 big adults, plenty of trunk space, awesome Alpine stereo w/subwoofer & amp (from factory), 18" chrome rims that are a throwback to the old Cragars, Handles great in poor weather thansk to the limited slip rear. If none of this attracts you, one can easily bargain a salesman down from the 35,585 loaded price tag to about 28,500 (demand isn't too great for the cars now --- grab them while you can!)

Weakness:

Can't lay wheels from a standstill (all due to the Limited Slip Rear!), fuel economy is "EH"... but if you're in the market for this ride you wouldnt worry about MPG anyways.

I've heard about enough from those whiny little punks and prissy women who say the new Marauder is too "rough around the edges" for them. It's not for everybody, but it IS for me! I love the tight feel of the new steering set up for the '03 platform. The car goes right where you want it to. The power is more than enough, but placed at a high RPM (remember this is an overhead cam motor). There is a lack of low-end torque but it's still enough to haul out. It just won't roast rubber from a standstill, that's all. I get about 17 mpg with my Merc... better than I'd expect due to my lead foot.

Weakness:

if you pull up to an Impala SS, youll be seeing the back end of the Impala, until you hit 117mph, the you wont see the Impala at all with its governer limited 155mph on the SS

very fast car, i have a 94 impala ss also. 2 completely different, i thought they would be similar, but no. the Marauder is a more mature and sophisticated younger brother of the impala SS
