Strength:

Beautiful to behold, very smooth ride, lots of power,

Weakness:

The audio system software "glithch" that the dealer cannot fix, not too much interior storage space, the no-haagle price, seats could use more padding; Xenon's and sunroof should be standard

A bit overpriced, but overall a very good car. The xenon light are a must, and the rain-sensing wiper is marvelous esp. since it rains here a lot. Love the power and the ability to move in-out of traffic easily. Voice-activated phone system need some refinement but still a great idea that usually works well. Standard wheels are low-profile adding to the beauty and function of the car.

Strength:

Everything. With the heated seats and Cd changer this car rules. In fact it's smarter than me in some cases! This car has a very powerful motor but has great gas mileage!

Weakness:

Sunroof and Xenon options. Trunk is a bit on the small side.

This is a great car for the Buck!

Strength:

Solid. Acceleration. Value for resale is a plus.

Weakness:

Initial cost.

50-something. Absolutely recommended. It is a car for those who want a solid car with luxury features. It is not an off-road vehicle and is not as much as a gas hog as its competitors. It is comfortable, roomy and free of rattles and squeaks.

Strength:

Quick pick up, quiet & smooth engine, sturdy chasis, great handling.

Weakness:

steering effort too light, road noise

I've driven the E420 for over 3 years, and I put a set of 18" AMG Aero II monoblocks with Dunlop SP8000 235/18/40ZR tires to bring up the performance. At this setup alone, it transformed the handling completely, where I could make turns with much more confidence at any speed. The braking distance and feel is improved also. I found the
original wheels and tires being too soft for my taste, although the original set of wheels are VERY comfortable. But please note that the ride suffers a bit with the 18" wheel. The sports package gives you 17" wheel, which may suit most people's needs.

This car has incredible strength in power, sturdy chasis, and a very quiet engine (what MB is well known of). The E420 has an engine with 4 valves per cylinder, making it a 32 valve engine. The new E430 uses a 3 valve per cylinder engine, but are fitted with twin-spark plug. In my opinion, because the E430 engine has a flatter torque curve, it offers more torque available at low RPMs (than the E420), but the E420 runs happier at higher RPMs. Both models run similar in general, but I personally like the 4 valve per cylinder setup more.

But no car's perfect; there are some improvements that I would like to see in the E-class cars. First is to have a heavier steering (like older Mercedes). Second, there are fair amount of road noise coming in to cabin, for some reason; but it is at an acceptable level. The strange thing is that you 'hear' the road noise, but don't 'feel' it, like "Car and Driver" stated in their review.

I've driven the BMW 540i, Lexus GS400, and Jaguar S-Type. They all have their strengh. It was an easy decision for me to buy the E420, since I only had the 540i to compare it with. But with the advanced Lexus GS400 availble now, it makes the buying decision a bit tougher. At this price range, if you prefer to drive with a car that has a good name and own it for over 10 years, consider the E420; if you're die-hard performance driver, consider the 540i; if you don't want to pay big bills for regular maintenance, but still want to have the luxury, consider the GS400. I'm not a big fan of Jaquar, but the S-Type has really evolved!

But watch out, the Germans, the Japanese are coming strongly, and are really close now....

Strength:

VERY FAST!, but easy car to control with many features geared to traction and power reducion in case of brain fade. Wonderfull ride, high quality construction.

Weakness:

remote door lock/unlock, windows up/down is not very sensitive...must get very close to car prior to working

Paid a premium as there are a limited number of these cars imported every year. Recommend highly!! Lot's of fun when a loud muscle car is along side at a light and you can leave them sitting there!!

Smooth ride, reliable, great pick up, and the best sound system I've ever had in a car. Great service and very stylish

Weakness:

Expensive. Long lead time on delivery

After you get over the initial price tag and have driven the car for a while you will see that you obtained "value" for the price you paid. Best car I've ever driven

Strength:

Absolutely The best Mercedes we have every owned since 1976. It's fast, it's a tad bit smaller on the outside than our 500 SEL, but larger on the inside. MANY safety features and an indredible ride.

Weakness:

NONE

We thought we loved our other Mercedes cars and do -- until this model. We decided to get every option and are very happy we did. Because of the Navigation system we never get lost, and because of the seats -- both front and back --the special heat and air for each seat, everyone is more than comfortable regarldess of where they sit. The temp controls for each seat, the ability of the car to adjust to your body size and weight are incredible. Also, there are photos that show you how close you are to another car or object, including the rear, make parking a breeze.

Additionally, this car has both standard and auto transmission, so of you are going slowly or up or down a hill, you can change from drive to a lower or higher gear. I could write a book on this fantastic vehicle. There are way too many improvements to write about here. It's more than worth the investment. Take a test drive and see for yourself.

Bravo and thank you, Mercedes Benz. Compared to more expensive vehicles, this one beats them all in every way.

built like a tank, very smooth ride (even at 145 mph!!!), and everything else.

Weakness:

remote door lock is not sensitive, brake dusts, cup holders are too flimsy, didnt come with AMG rims (doesnt matter, its still a benz)

got this car brand new when i was only 16 years old. ive been driving it for over 2 years now, and havent had any problems with it. it rides very comfortably and quietly (even when i race on the freeways at 100+ mph)... fastest i ever drove with this car was 145 mph, and it really felt like i was goin 80-90 mph...this is one of the safest car. oh yea, its hella fun when some teenagers with their super rice rockets (known as hondas, integras, etc) tries to out race me, when theyre trying to catch up, hehe...
