Constantly developing problems

The new model e-class is a nightmare I have had mine for about15 months and it has been going in and out of the workshop For the last 13months. First it was the SRS light, then suspension, lower arm, engine oil light and more. Its been in the garage at least twice a month. Its still there as I write they want to change the engine but I have had enough. Taking them to court in about two weeks the pain and inconvinience is unbearable, know a couple of people complaining about the new E-class. Its a problematic car.

turn signals that sometimes (happened to me twice) work strangely.

I believe that the American cars must be different, because my right-hand-drive car is working perfectly! In fact, it's engine is getting stronger and much smoother, and the auto shifter is a joy to use in manual mode. Very very pretty inside and out, though if you look closely under the door (who does that except car nuts like me? :p) there's a bit of cheap plastic (solid though). I've had one electrical issue which seldom crops up, but is there--if u hold signal indicator stalk down halfway, but turn e wheel the other direction, it'll sometimes stay on even after u release it. u've to press it down all the way again and release it before it'd stop. a little annoying but no problem. it doesnt happen if u're used to pushing e indicator down all the way (beyond the 'click' point) anyway.

I'm so happy to see this web site, very much happier when I first purchased the E500, Mine is having problems just like others and I know their pain, I'm very disapointed with the E500 and MB's quality itself, the funny thing is MB sale ref still denine all the problems, of course they just want to make the living, if you really want to know about the E500? please go to Service Dept. and talk to the E's owners instead of the Sale, there are not very happy with it.

This new E class is a nightmare. I bought an E500 and have had nothing but problems with it. The major problems were mostly electrical with my car in the shop for almost 2 months(about 50 days) and they ended up redoing the entire electical system. Problem started with the SRS light which then moved to the radio and then affected the entire electical system. The car also had a serious alignment issue(moving to the right) and the dealership said they redid the front suspension. I am now in the process of pursuing MB with a lemon law attorney.

Hopefully this car will protect my family in the event of a crash. No strengths found. Kind of like going to heaven. You'll never know if it exists until its too late to tell anyone. I won't know if the car will do well in a crash unless I crash it, which I hope I never do

Expensive, Not well built, too many sophisticated systems that go wrong.If its not something falling off it's something else burning out. After paying 58K for the car with 50,000 miles and no damage I was offered 20K to trade it in on a new one. That is weak trade in value.

I have never paid so much to receive so little. For more details feel free to e-mail me. I will list problems. Transmission quit while passing and put my life in danger. Command system burnt out. Vanity mirror falling off in my wifes lap. Xenon lights that I paid 1500 for cast terrible shadows when adjusted correctly and blind oncomming traffic when adjusted to where I can see the road at nite. Mercedes benz has given me every excuse in the book as to why the lights are unadjustable. My rear window has fallen into the door for no reason similar to the problem on most Chrysler cars the straps in the windows are plastic and doomed to fail one window at a time. The bushings in my shifter had worn out and needed to be replaced. My emergency get the hell into a dealer now light came on and forced me to spend the day at a Miami dealership, where after careful examination and 9 hours they assured me that it was just a faulty switch. I have already replaced rear bulbs half a dozen times and replaced one front fog light that filled up with water during a rain. The lug nuts and inner rims have been rudting since the first 6 months I owned this car. At 70,000 miles I have been through 5 sets of tires, The alignment has to be set every 6 months or the car eats the tires. By 50k miles I had had 3 complete brake jobs and even had to by 4 new rotors and of course none of this is covered by the fantastic 48000 4 year limited warranty. It goes on and on. Radio not working, CD player in trunk jamming. Daimler Chrysler has become Chrysler Daimler and lost all that it's German pride. Sadly,It is now a typically American car company with a German name. Don't be fooled.

Ride is becoming choppy, Quality and fix response is poor

Brakes make a two tone noise when weather is damp. Audio system has failed after getting car back from B service. Dealer performed a flash upgrade. Two days later the audio system sizzled and crackled and failed to respond to any channel selection. CD player failed to engage until I hit the button several times. Turned the unit off and it took 15 seconds to turn off. Turned back on and message on radio said error accessing audio system. Ride is becoming choppy. Wind and exterior noise. The car is in the shop addressing problems for the 3rd time in 4 weeks. SOS defective problem was addressed by replacing the instrument cluster. After the last call from service, the radio problem may never get fixed because they cannot reproduce.. My 3rd Mercedes since 1999. An E320 and an ML320, both great vehicles. After this experience, I'm going to look at BMW or Lexus the next time!

Apperance, That is It!!

SLOW CAR, Numerous Electrical Problems, Poor Reliability, Terrible Gas Mileage, Brakes every 25 k along with tires. Mercedes Look good! That is IT!!

DO NOT BUY a 02 MB C240. This car is an absolute Nightmare. I have had over 20 Tail Lights replaced, 3 transmitters, 3 Window Shade Motors, 2 Sunroof Switches, Windshield Wiper Motor, Numerous Window Switches, Numerous Front and Rear Tail Lights, Rotors at 8,000 Miles, Rear Window Antenna Twice, Poor Radio Reception because of Recall. I have sued MB under lemon law and the dealership owner took my Rental Car rights away. They refuse to buy the car back. The Regional rep who has since been demoted told me MB only buys cars back they are unable to fix. Keeler is awful to deal with. Service is very acomodating, but THEY SHOULD BE AFTER I HAVE BEEN BACK FOR SERVICE over 45 times in less then 20 months. I also was driving on Highway at 70 in rain storm and wipers just stopped.

Power, suspension, interior.

Computer system failures, poor factory assistance with continuous problems, factory installed mobil phone doesn't work all the time, mediocre paint finish on exterior (orangepeal finish with non-metalic finish).

In a nutshell... this car has been a technilogical nightmare. The computer system that operates the airbag (SRS) system has failed twice where the entire system has to be replaced. Each time it's taken nearly 2 weeks. I was provided a replacement vehcile by the dealership, however it was typically a C240... not quite the E500 I'm paying for. There had been one other time SRS light came on. This time with random other electric problems. It didn't require computer replacemnt however I was once again without my car for nearly a week. I asked the factory to buy the car back from me as I felt that three times having the SRS not working warrented a substantial safety issue and was told by the service manager at Fletcher Jones that MBUSA doesn't think that the SRS failing doesn't warrent a substantial failure in the safety functions of the car and that it wouldn't fall under the CA Lemon Law provision. I wouldn't recommend this car. I wouldn't recommend this dealership. I don't know what happened to quality with Mercedes-Benz but evidently, it's been lost.

I loved this car so much, I've never gotten any problems except a regular maintenance such as oil change, brake pads replacement all of these I did it by myself. it was so easy change brakes.

Engine noise very un Mercedes like (Knocking at idle, air pump upon acceleration), less solid feel vs previous MBZ, cheap Conti tires, no navi available, initial quality problems (alignment problem)

The car had alignment problems that required 3 trips back to the dealer, and the engine makes 2 strange noises that the dealer claims are normal. Net is I would not have bought the car had I known about the engine noise beforehand.
