Strength:

very quiet and smooth. thats it

Weakness:

everything else. no performance car; i get afraid when i hit the corners. the repair cost eats you up. the worst car ive ever owned my entire life. the car is just a nightmare. no more lexuses

I would say this is an ok car but i ve been through a lot of headaches with this junk. The car drives really smooth and quiet and handles really bad especially on corners. On long trips, i went about 90mph and car started to shake like a chicken getting choked or something. I would recomment a bmw 7series if you want a solid performance sedan. interior lacks a lot of wood . whats why those copycat lexus people put lot of wood in that new LS430.they may think their up there with bmw and mercedes but only in their dreams. their missing a point. PERFORMANCE! I have an amazing 215k miles on the car. I had to replace the driver door because the remote stopped working and it cost $600. The calipers literally blew up $700. air conditiner went out $1200. the car almost killed me when i spun out of control going 45mph on a curve; fortunately i didnt hit anything. the battery died all of a sudden and the electrical stuff just died $300. just a headache to own one of these. maybe i should get a honda civic

I have always been a car nut,and have have had more vehicles in the last 35 years then I can count. This car truly is the finest vehicle I have ever owned. Each time my wife or I drive the car,we just smile. I can''t think of enough superlatives! We bought this car coming off a lease with 30,000 miles. I can''t tell it from a new one. I am used to quality dealer service, but Wilkie Lexus of Haverford,Pa. is the best. They really do put the customers needs first.

Strength:

Interior is perfection for a luxury vehicle - absolutely flawless. Ride and handling is much better than I expected. Noise, vibratin and harshness stunning in its total absence at normal speeds. Vaultlike build and obvious quality.

Weakness:

Front end styling is ugly from some angles. Priced too cheap for status seekers.

I do not own this car. However I did get a chance to thrash the LS430 around a test track and compare it to the Mercedes S430. For those of you who believe everything you read in car magazines about ride and handling and fun, please remember that YOU will be driving the vehicle and that Michael Schumacher is not your chauffer. In the real world for a normal driver this is what I found: Drove S430 first with the expectation that it would be VASTLY better than the LS430 (because I''d read all those reviews...). Found it to be good overall. Acceleration not that great, but competant through the cones although the steering was vague. Great exterior styling, bland and cheap interior. Drove LS430 - what a revelation. Noticably quicker than S430, much better through the twisties, much better steering feel. Defintely more fun and better handling - much better ride. And the interior is perfection. Obviously I wans''t trying hard enough with the S430 as we all know it should be better than the Lexus. Went back and drove it again - nope, not as capable around the cones, didn''t ''shrink'' aound me as the LS did. I think it needs the sport package and more power just to compare to the base LS430 (not euro tuned). The above is my rating from driving both cars around a track - I somehow don''t believe that most drivers will get to those speeds and try to take hairpin bends at 50mph during their daily commute (in which case the LS430 makes an even greater case for itself). Driving impressions aside the Lexus walks all over the Mercedes except in exterior styling and perceived status. However the Mercedes has gorgeuos looks and is a good car - just needs to imitate the Lexus more to catch up.

Strength:

The cabin workmanship, and the overall Reliability. It has a proven track record. Depreciation, Customer Service, and Ride Quality. Not to mention Innovation in design.

Weakness:

Lack of the styling that allowed Lexus to make its mark in this business. The ultimate Lexus would combine the sleek and elegance of an XJ8 with the technological wizardry of a LS

The LS430 is simply outstanding. Although the styling is somewhat bland, in terms of value for money, there is nothing like it. I''ve seen the Mercedes S-Class, and the luxury of the cabin does not compare to that of the LS430. It does not ride like a German performance sedan, but what critics seem to forget is that It is NOT supposed to!!! Lexus is unique in that aspect, it will do 150 MPH and accelerate from 0-60 in 6.6 sec, but it has a ride quality that is unparalleled.

I LOVE MY LEXUS !!!!!! My boyfriend dpurchased this car for me a little more than over a year ago, and other than a few oil changes and a tune up, it has been absolutely maintenance free! It is extremely quiet (sometimes I forget its even on), its in mint condition, everything still works. I have replaced the factory wheels with the latest 18" low profile tires and chrome rims. I also had the factory radio replaced with a Clarion 2256, multimedia system. It''s so very cozy inside now. Oh, did I mention that this car has over 210,000 miles on it and it still drives like day 1. I will drive it as long as it holds up, butI know that when its time is up, it will DEFINATELY be replaced with another LEXUS, undoubtebly !!!!!!

Strength:

Perfection

Weakness:

After reading some reviews, apparently it''s needs square wheels or something , so it rides/drives more like a MB or BMW.

The Lexus LS-430 is the best car that has ever been built. It is simply impossible to buy a better vehicle. I want to just laugh at all of the people writing reviews that say that Lexus has copied the MB and BMW. Hello?? Were any of these people alive 10 years ago when Lexus first came out with the LS-400? If you''ve ever driven a MB or BMW from that time, you will know that there is absolutely no comparison. The MB and BMW were big old boats that were slow and handled as well as a bathtub with wheels. Ever since then, MB and BMW have been playing catch-up to try and COPY what Lexus has done so well. And by the way...if you want to "feel" the road as with a MB or BMW, instead of the amazing smoothness and REFINEMENT of a Lexus, just ride a tri-cycle down a steep hill and save yourself 70,000 and many trips to the repair shop with your MB or BMW.

All round good but best for showing off wealth.

Weakness:

Bored of it already. My next car is going to be something like a VW Golf but I'll probably keep this one for ten years. Almost as ugly as the LS430.

Lots of toys. Has lots of suprise gadgets like the auto headlamp feature which I wouldn't ask for if it didn't have it. Does everything so well that it's boring. A bit like turning the sound off on a video game.

Strength:

Looks just like a Mercedes, people get fooled all the time. I love it when people come up to me and say "Nice Mercedes.. s500? You must have spent a fortune!" I don't show them my car unless it's at night, cause during the day they'll see the lexus ls430 badge.

Weakness:

Gas guzzler, terrible in bad whether (traction control must be at the bottom of the list amongst luxury cars), transmission doesn't shift out of second gear in cold wheather, terrible handling, minor electrical problems (flashing/warning lights), navigation system is hard to use, braking system is poor (replaced the brake pads once after getting the car for less than a year). Car weighs 4 tons or something. I have no idea why it weighs so much, it makes cornering and acceleration hard. Heavy vibration at highway speed. Made eight visits to the dealer in a year to fix minor problems (even the mechanics know my name by now).

Reliability? Hmm... I think JD Powers survey may have tramsmitted the wrong idea. With lexus, people think you're rich... With Mercedes, people KNOW you're rich. Having said that, the "poor" people tend to drive their lexus more cautiously, while the "rich" people tend to abuse their Mercedes. As an example look at the Ferrari F-50 and F355. The cheaper F355 is normally garaged, while the corporate owned F-50 is dancing around the tracks at 100+ mph getting abused. People who have lots money spend it terribly, and people who don't have enough money spend it wisely.

Simply over rated! It is a cheaper version of the S-Class, granted it's faster. If you have the money get the S-Class, the S-Class is also original. However if you can't afford originality get the es300 (people would only confuse it with a camry, which is not as bad because they're both designed by toyota).

My life was endangered when I came off a ramp onto a freeway. It was wet and raining, not knowing how bad the traction conrol was then, I gassed it (pedal to the metal). The car did a 360 degree spin onto the freeway. Luckily for me, it was early morning, and there was no traffic. This car could have killed me.

Sure lexus copied the Mercedes S-Class design, but they forgot to copy the other mechanical wizardary (like the traction control).

Think twice about buying any kind of car. I will not recommend this car to anyone, in fact I recommend that everyone do their research before buying a car. Think about what makes a good car: Performance, reliability, economically friendly, and safety. If you weigh too much on reliability, you migh sacrafice the other three good qualities. Think about your family's and their safety!

Don't be fooled by ls430's crash test. They tested only frontal collison and (I think) side impact. Let's not forget that acccidents occur accidently, and it doesn't always involve frontal collison! Just think about the car getting rolled over, rear ended, 360'ing on the freeway, etc... Just think about that!!!

I'll never buy another lexus as long as i live. This car is a dissappointment in every way!!!

Similar Product Used??? How about Mercedes S-Class!!! Talk about copying, lexus absolutely ripped off and raped the Mercedes S-Class design.

Volvo delivers more bang for the buck, only alot cheaper. Not to mention Volvo is dedicated to being environment friendly.

Don't forget to compare BMW and Audi. I would have commented on these cars, but I've spent too much time already.

Strength:

INTERIOR. The car is almost not really an automobile. In a way, due to the number of features it has, it's like a mini RV. It comes loaded with things such as heated and cooled, massaging seats. A back seat cooler, along with controls to the heating, air, radio, and windows in the center armrest. The alert system is really helpful when parking (especially for me). Too many gadgets almost to remember. I find something new nearly everytime i get in it!

Weakness:

Nothing yet. I can't imagine it having a flaw anyway. I mean hey- it's a LEXUS!!

Ii's an incredible car. Inside and out. I'm really enjoying the stairs that the Infiniti never got.
