I am a avid car racer and tuner. I am tweaking my Lexus to the max. If the car has a flaw, I will find it, if it has a potential, I will exploit it.

For all of you who don't know: the "plastic" on the dashboard of the IS is really a material that prevents warping from heat.

IT's a HOT car. I get so much positive feedback. Mechanics, Looks, Quality; the sportswatch cluster is unparalled, the Lexus royal treatment you get is a plus, and you can't deny the longevity and security you get from a Lexus.

None really, but it really is for the sporty rider so don't whine about the side compartment.

This car is amazing. I never received so much positive feedback. Plus, I had the 330 and you can't compare the quality. BMW has a horrific depreciation rate. The IS is timeless. Invest in it, you won't be disapointed. This car won hands down in Road & Track testings with BMW, Audi, Benz, Saab sport sedans.

Hands down, it beats the BMW 330--which has electrical problems and that ugly BMW depreciation rate. Audi is a plain Jane and also has its share of problems; Benz is assembled in Malaysia and Mexico--the quality is just not there

my IS has the carbon fiber kit, it looks wonderful
a lot of people use the e-shift but I use the drive shift and the take off is remarkable.
e-shift is fun for kix and giggles
the speedometer is one of a kind and that is what separates it from the rest
I have black on black w/ suede seat it just looks beautiful no matter what time of the day it is, only that comes close is the silver color
the HID are so cool looking
speed, handling, braking, looks it has it all!!!
and if you are into the rice look then this is the car to have unless it's a body kit you want. there are no other upgrades beside go fast stuff.

The car of my dreams!!! love racing all the haters around driving there over priced beamers and audi's. The IS is one of the most beautiful cars on the market. Especially if compared to bmw and audi (lower-cased because of the lack of respect for the 3 series unless it an "M-series" and audi sux,it has a cute badge though). Back on the IS 300, Girls love it, Guys love it. Havent really ever heard anything really worth saying bad about the car because it has been nothing but a wonderful experience since i purchased it. After Im done with my upgrades and knick knacks on the car, it will be the best looking car on the market. So to all you IS haters, get a life. Dont hate, participate. Because no matter what you guys say this car is still gone sell just because it an "L". 3 series drivers! watch out for me out there, cause im coming for ya!

Only been in the shop 3 times in six months.

Styling gets old fast. Can't keep up with 328i's, 330i's, A4s.

This is a good reliable car, although it's easy to see it is really nothing but an over-priced Toyota. Now that I've had it for 6 months, I am almost embarassed to drive it. So guady looking...The tail-lights, chopped off trunk, and ridiculous interior. What was I smoking when I payed that kind of money for a Toyota, err Lexus? Now I know why BMW and Audi will never be surpassed by Toyotas, Hondas, and Nissans.

Compares well with Camrey, Acuras, Accord although costs about 10-15 grand more. Don't think this car is worth more than $22K. Don't waste your money on this car when you can get a real Sport Sedan for the same price.

great build quality - bettering that of mercs and bmw's in areas. super smooth straight six engine - very slick auto box - great air-con very smart leather/escane trim. masses of kit.

some of the inetrior plastics could be better - however that charge seems to being leveled at all luxury compact car makers? Lexus - get a grip and up the anti.

This review is for the IS200 not the 300 which is the only IS available in the US. Why I can't imagine. I am extremely happy with my IS200 - In the UK reviewers asked for more power!? But then all motoring reviewers are really just "boy racers" and don't understand the real world. The IS300 will be launched in the UK next month sept' 2001 along with the Sportscross hatch/estate car (I think you still call them station-wagons?)

Looking at some of the reviews I see that the gas consumption of the 300 is a propblem for some people. In the UK we think of all US cars as gas guzzlers! The price of gas here in the UK is now around $5 a gallon YES that's FIVE dollars a gallon!!! So imagine when the 300 comes out one wouldn't be buying one if the cost of gas is an issue.

My 200 does around 21 to the gallon around town and on a run I get around 29 which is not bad - but with the price of gas I would have to think seriously before considering the 300 - it must be doing a lot less. My car does me great. It's very smooth comfortable the air conditioning system is the best in any car I've had inc' mercs, bmw's etc, etc. The auto box is so slick it's great and like all Lexus cars it comes with a shed load of kit which on most of the opposition would cost fortunes as extras. I guess though in the last few years Lexus have shaken up the market and now makers like Mercedes who used to charge even for a radio until just recently have now begun to include these items as standard - Well done Lexus!

I think you should lobby Lexus US to bring in the IS200 - it is in reality plenty powerful enough has all the benefits of the bigger engined model but will save on fuel - an issue taking prominence now in the US.

The power of the emgine.
The breaks are top of its class.
The handling is by far one of the best in the world on a sedan.
The quality of the car is great. Well built.

The only problem may be gas mileage. Otherwise, this car is flawless in every automotive aspect.

The car is an absolute amazing machine. The power you feel from the engine, and the hadling the car posseses. The car incredibly jumps from 45 MPH to 90 MPH in a matter of 3 seconds. The breaking is amazing and the smoothness of the car is unprecidented.
