Jaguar XKR
Strength:
Fast, handles great, wicked looks, nice rims, very comfortable
Weakness:
Stupid boot that you have to fiddle with to cover the top when down. It's such a pain that I never put it on. Great car. The only thing that would be better is if I could drive it year round and if it had a proper motorized cover that came down over the top. Similar Products Used: Jaguar XK8. The XKR improves on all the negatives of the XK8. Much more power - I toasted a Vette and a Porsche recently. Better handling when driving agressively but not a sacrifice on the highway ride |

Strength:
The way the car looks. Your eyes are all you need to experience what is great about this car. Also, great seats and driving position once you are tucked in. Suprisingly comfortable for long drives.
Weakness:
Everything else is fairly mediocre, including the performance. But who cares, that's not what your paying for. If you think youre paying for performance here, you've missed it by a mile. This car commands so much attention you had better be ready for it if you get one. I bought it for my wife. I'm almost embarrased to drive it because it's so sexy and feline. I don't care what anyone says, this is a woman's car (convertible that is, the coup is more masculine). The dissapointment for me is the lack of performance. I drive a BMW 7-series as my daily driver and once or twice a week I take the Jag out for gas, etc. The difference in performance is shocking. To say the BMW blows the doors off the Jag is an understatement. They both have V8 & similar HP ratings. Why the huge difference? No idea. If you want performance that matches the looks, get the XKR. If you could re-badge this car with a non-marquee name, say Mitsubishi, it would sell for about 40K. I put this warning out only for the buyer who thinks they are going to get Corvette performance because of the looks and price. It ain't happening. This car is for emotional buyers and image only. Your jollies come from what you know others are thinking about you when they see you in it. I'm giving it maximum stars on value and overall rating because I bought the car ONLY for the knockout statement it makes, not for anything else. And it has delivered hugely in that regard. If I were to rate the car minus the image and mystique factor, it would get one star for value and three stars for overall. PS--I have never read a professional review of this car, these comments are 100% from personal experience. Similar Products Used: N/A Went straight for it because it's the most attractive, statement making, and sexiest car on the road, period. No others considered. |

XK8 Convertible
Strength:
Incredible looks. With the top down at lights, people will just start talking to you about this car. Nice engine. Quiet on the highway with not much noise from the convertible top.
Weakness:
Soft handling is nice when cruising but a trade off when cornering hard. Back seat is only useful for my 5 year old. Stupid leather boot has to be attached to cover the top when down. Mercedes and BMW convertibles both have nice hard hatches that cover their top. Like the car a lot. Just ordered an XKR with CATS which sould solve the handling problem and gives a nice increase in peformance as well. Still less than a 500SL and will kick it's butt, plus they are fewer and far between than a Merc or BMW. Similar Products Used: Lexus SC 400 |

its jaguar looks
Weakness:
not a drivers car this is one beautiful car! as i said before it is not a drivers car tho. when you get in its like youre in a totally separated from the rest of the world. you throw it into drive and it drives itself, which was my main problem with the car. this car just doesnt beg you to drive it. would be an ideal car for old women. being 20 years old i got some real mean looks from people and on one occasion someone keyed my car real good. so i decided to get rid of it and get something that wasnt as flashy. the main reason why i got rid of it was after a while, just little things went wrong with it. had problems with the top, and NEVER jump in a pool with the remote entry thing. that caused problems you wouldnt believe. another problem was when the top was down and you drive fast it automatically turns the volume on the stereo up cause of the noise from the wind. but when you hit the breaks it suddenly turns the music way down. i dont know it got annoying after a while. the car is fast. its easy to drive and then look down and realise youre going 100mph. corners pretty good, and has a pretty bad blind spot. all these little niggles aside its a great car. would be a much better car if it had a manual or paddle transmission. |

Oh my god...do I love this car. I have never, ever, had so many people stop me or pull up next to me and tell me how much they love the car. I'll leave the top down parked on the street and it never fails that someone will end up standing there looking inside when I get back. This is my second Jag and I love the feel and look of the entire car line and have for years. Great power when needed. Plenty of room inside (at least the two front seats). I'm 6'2" and was worried about head and leg room, but am amazed with the room. None of the other convertibles on the market make me feel so comfortable. It's the perfect L.A. car and I love every minute I'm in it! Also like the fact that it's a two seater..no longer have to shuttle all my friends and family around in the long-wheelbase Jag anymore!
Weakness:
Had the bonnet that goes on the drop-top - too much work to take on and off, so I just leave the top down all the time!! Poor visibility in the C pillar with the top up and I'm worried I'm gonna run into something! Never felt better about the price I paid for a car ($68,000). I bargain hard for car prices, but this one has the real joy factor that I haven't had with other cars. |

Strength:
The classic styling, the curb appeal, pure fun to drive, comfortable seats, decent navigation system, powered just right, ease of lowering top, glass rear window, thick quiet soft top, sounds nice on the road and my wife bonded quickly with it.
Weakness:
No auto down/up for the power windows, poor placement of the ignition key with respect to the available leg room, gas and brake pedals are too close together, trunk release and gas door release buttons are easy to knee when getting in or out and manual didn't always match the actual product. As any married man knows, even if you can afford it, there are cars that you WANT but there is no way to SELL the wife on them. I saw the Jaguar XK-8 but didn't fall hard right away because I never liked the XKE's. It grew on me quickly and I started my campaign to purchase one. My wife was non-committal at first but very happy for me and offered her advise on its color. After her first experience of being alone behind the wheel with it, (bonding) I now have lost MY sports car. To someone who cares about his wife's feelings this was a GOOD thing. Similar Products Used: Corvette was not classy, Lexus SC-400 acceleration was sluggish, Mustang 390 GT was no longer made, was minutes away from driving away with a Viper but creature comforts were non-existant and the BMW dealers were insulting with their price fixed Z8. |
