Jaquar's break down to much, with their safe engine mode function. This car needs to be really looked at.

I purchased this car not knowing that I would have to have it repaired at the dealership in Memphis, TN. I really don't think that their service department is at all good to work with. They are just a rip off. They lied to me and my warranty company about a repair that I needed. They so call fixed the car, and 1800.00 dollar later and not 4000 miles put on the car in 9 months, the car was doing the same thing. They didn't know at first that I had 2 diagnostic done on the car before I brought the car to them. After the car starting doing the same thing, I took the car back this time they are trying to say they offered me a different part which was the throttle body assembly. Which I was never offered I have all the paper work that they gave me, I don't care what someone typed in their computers. Now I don't carry a warranty on the car and they want me to pay 1830.00 dollars for the part and they will waive the labor and whatever else. I think something should be done about this. Why did they charge me and the warranty people monies for parts that was not even needed on the car on the 1st visit. I am going to pay them for the car the second time and what I'm about to do next, Jaquar will hear from me and an attorney. If the warranty company don't want their money back, well, I do. I will never never buy another Jaquar in my life, also I'm a very popular person, and everyone I know don't want one now. Why would they, after seeing what I have been going thru. I believe when you're buying this car you buy it for looks and not reliability. While it's never left me on the side of the road, it has had 2 fuel pumps go bad, the front light turn signal socket has been replaced, the vacuum hose developed a leak, the water reservoir has had to be replaced and the oil pan gasket has developed a leak also. The service department at another dealership tells me now that the disc stability control might need work and that's another $815. This is the third high-end luxury car I've purchased and I've been least pleased with. It's a good thing the car is paid for because I tend to spend several hundred dollars on one repair or another every 2 or 3 months.

It looks nice and usually drives amazingly.

The steering went bad.
The passenger power window went out and would not open or shut.
The brakes have been causing a lot of problems.
There have been electrical problems one after another.
The dealer does not do anything about the problems.

Overall, I am very disappointed with Jaguar.

I received this car from my husband as a christmas present. At first, it was a dream and I absolutely loved it. But then after about a year of owning it, everything started to go bad. First, the transmission was having problems, then the electrical started having problems and has ever since. I've also had squeaky brakes for a long time, and they go bad very quickly. I have been putting so much money into it, and I have become very frustrated.

I bought the 2003 S-type 3.0 because I always wanted a Jag and the S-Type was a throw back to the beautiful Mark IVs I first admired as a kid. I have had the car over 3 years and have not been disappointed. No significant problems despite buying the car with 19K miles on it. The car always looks great - purring down the highway or just standing in the garage. It's interesting to watch other people react to it in a parking lot. It gets attention with it's muscular stance and quiet, refined elegance.

This is my first luxury car but it won't be my last

for the persons with brake problems ( noises) in any car i advice to replace de brake pads and shoes for ceramic brakes, they work in any car , cost around 40 bucks but worth it , no noises , quick stop.

Too many to list, but fit and finish is great, style is awesome, especially in darker colors. You could eat off the engine and it makes YOU look SOOO GOOD!!!

I bought this car because, it's absolutely beautiful inside and out and because someone else took a lot of the depreciation. It corners like the cat that it is and even with the V-6, it is quick as I'll ever need. (My drag racing days are a nice memory, but in the past.)
This is a piece of designer art that you proudly drive and accept the accolades for your good taste when it turns so many heads. I've heard stories of mechanical problems , mostly on the pre-2003 models, a long time ago, it used to be the electrics on the Jags that were annoying. But, I believe that Jaguar/Ford has been listening to owners and Ford wants this car to be a success story. So in 2003, many improvements and fixes were made. I would recommend this year or newer if you're in the market for a pre-owned Jaguar. But, of course, with repairs on this or any other fine car being what they are, get the best warranty you can so you can have peace of mind while you enjoy this fabulous car.

This is the most bang for your luxury car dollar and does the British proud in my opinion. So far, 700 trouble free miles, and I know it is too soon to access, but I'm going to do everything right as to my responsibilities for maintainence and then there's the warranty if I need it.

Right now though, I am back to a feeling of LOVIN' my car that I've haven't had since I was a young man. It truly is technological and design art made just for you, it's deserving owner.

A stunning looking car which has been well cared for with a full service history. Everyone thinks I've won the lottery. I have a private plate and more than one person has asked me if it is brand new. It is in such good condition. I had a few teething problems within the first couple of weeks. It was only firing on five cylinders. A quick visit to the dealer soon sorted this. The brakes squeel and there was a noise coming from the back drivers wheel. Back to the dealer and they fitted new rear discs and pads and cleaned out the front brakes. Unfortunately, the brakes still squeel and the noise from the back wheel is still there. I only wish the MPG was better. I'm averaging about 20 MPG.

Too many to list. You will experience a problem every thousand miles or so.

I bought the car used with only 50,000 miles on it. 5000 miles later I started having problems with the car. First I started smelling burning plastic. Found out that some wires were touching the manifold and burning. Next I smelled burning oil. Turns out that the valve cover gaskets were leaking oil onto the manifolds also. When the valve covers were pulled off, oil had saturated the spark plug wells. Gaskets, spark plugs and ignition coils were all replaced (not cheap!) Car now has problems with catalytic converters and I am constantly getting a "Boot Open" message? My mpg has went from 25 to 10 mpg! The car feels like it has lost power and only running on two cylinders! This is terrible as the car does not respond to the pedal and takes time getting up to speed. Dangerous also. Now my power seats have a short somewhere as it keeps on blowing fuses! What a nightmare. Spare yourself the expense and hassles and do not buy this car! Go to roadfly.com under the Jaguar S-Type forum and you will see that these cars are inherently problematic.
