Audi A-6 2.7 Quattro
Strength:
Prepared to buy Mercedes E class. Drove several. Tried BMW 5 series and Lexus. Drove Audi A-6 with 2.7 biturbo and was sold. Great ride, handling, interior appointment overall build quality.
Weakness:
Cup holders are terrible. Wife complains of headrests which bother her neck. She is short, (5'2") After driving several different cars in this price range, this car has a big advantage with quattro plus power and ride. Drive often 1150 miles to Florida non stop except for gas and dinner with total comfort. Drive about 80 mph in silent control. Great Bose stereo. Xenon lights fantastic. Plenty of power to merge and pass. Get 22.5 mpg which I consider decent for performance. Interior has a sporty feel compared to Mercedes and even BMW. Wonder about resale though. Dealer has been great but then again only had routine maintenance as nothing is wrong with this car. Not like my past Jaguar which saw dealer often. Similar Products Used: 1997 Jaguar XJ6 |

A6
Strength:
Nice ride, somewhat sporty, nice interior, classic german exterior, very reliable
Weakness:
extremely light steering, not enough power (about 30 more horses would be perfect), expensive parts, engine sounds strained at high rpms This car is definately one of the best daily drivers you can own today under $20,000. Its got a great interior with nice walnut trim, a wonderful exterior that just seems to grow on you. It is not a preformance car though, and if thats what you want then check out the S6. Also, if you live in the north, this car is the best I've ever driven in the snow, an absolute tank, especially with blizzaks on all four wheels. The Quattro is wonderful in the dry too, never misbehaves. Love the lights too, intergrated fog and driving lights, using elipsoid technology. Too bad no factory xenon in 1995, I'm going to get some from a catolog though. A great car to buy used, especially now, since the price has dropped considerably since the new model was introduced. And I like the classic styling of mine better anyway. Similar Products Used: 2001 A6- more polished, but don't like the looks |

Strength:
Great interior that is second to none. Love the soft red glow of the instrumentation. Good use of space and has good trunk space and lots of cubby holes. Handles wonderfully. Bose Audiophile system is fantastic!
Weakness:
Bigger cup holders, wider rear seat (can't seat 5 comfortably). The rear seat not nearly as comfortable as the front seats. Marginal power 0-60 hard acceleration. Aluminum oilpan!!! Had to replace because it cracked; at my expense ($360) Why would they use aluminum for such a vital part that can be exposed to road damage?????? I would strongly recommend the Audi product. Dealer service could be better. It takes a long time to get service and the loaner vehicles are not Audi's; they use rental cars that are typically Toyota Corollas and Camry's. The Audi A6 pampers you in luxury. Similar Products Used: Test driven against BMW 5 series, Chrysler 300M, Olds Aurora, Infinity I30 Q45, Lincoln Continental, Lexus GS 300, and Volvo S80. We chose the Audi for overall drive, safety, and value. |

2.7T Tiptronic
Strength:
Gorgeous, classy style will still look great in ten years. Most comfortable and attractive interio of anything I've seen. Very roomy. Very quiet. Biturbo engine turns this luxuriously comfortable sedan into a rocket. Handles like its on rails, Quattro adds control and safety. Tiptronic is a good compromise if you want auto, but like better shifting control for performance.
Weakness:
They're selling too well...gonna loose its eclectic flair! Has increased my commute home my ten miles because now I want to go the long way. Only had it three weeks but no regrets. Never enjoyed driving any car so much (I've owned Mercedes and Alfa Romeos) Strongly recommended if you want comfort, capacity, and performance more than Bimmer badge recognition (but thats gonna change)! Similar Products Used: BMW 528; not nearly as comfortable or quick as the 2.7T. Seems very dated. comparison to the A6. |

Strength:
Overall Comfort, good interior space, the control over the vehicle at high speed is awesome, controls easy to read and operate, trip tronic transmission is wonderful even more control over the vehicle. Acceleratition and stopping ability is superb. Three year 50k paid service is a great feature. If you are serious about driving you will buy this AUTOMOBILE!!
Weakness:
Small rattle shows up sometimes. I have been through a lot of changes over the years with Audi, one of the finest Auto makers in the world! I have owned everything from the 1983 5000s to the 1986 4000cs quattro, 1998 A4 1.8T, 1999 A4 2.8 quattro and now the smooth 2000 A6 2.8 quattro. MY father drives a 1999 A8 quattro, ausome vehicle. My brother drives a 1999 A 4 2.8 quattro and I also owne a 1996 A6 quattro. Do you see a trend here!! Similar Products Used: BMW 3&5 Series Mercedees Benz C & E class, Acura |

Audi A6 2.8 Quattro
Strength:
Great styling. Very roomy and very comfortable. I'm 6' 185 lbs. and the driver seat holds me like a baby going around off ramps at super G's like an F1! Trunk is enormous. Stereo cranks. Xenon lights are really sharp and the light blue UVA tint on the windows is a nice touch. The night time gauge lighting (red and light blue) is wonderful for your eyes and also ranked best in car magazines. Steering is ultra fluid and the A6 breaks will literally save your life...that and the fact that it rates 5 stars all around for highway safety. The quattro really is worth it. In rain it never misses a beat. If you really want speed than buy the 2.7 turbo.
Weakness:
Our rearview mirror does not tint when night time rear driver has his high beams on. Didn't come with Goodyear's (best tire in the world). Some complain that a Global Positioning Device is not offered. I can't stand these! Who uses them? If you have a problem getting that lost that you need a GPD whenver you go out, than you should remain at home. We paid $40,000 and worth every penny. Audi gives you alot for your money. I highly recommend all Audi's to my friends...to my enemies, I recommend Ford and then any other American vehicle. Our 2nd vehicle will be the Audi All-Road Quattro with the air suspension. Sort of goofy looking but an awesome vehicle. Similar Products Used: BMW 5 series (nice car but more of a statis symbol). |

A6 2.7T Tip
Strength:
This is my second A6. Traded in a '98 A6 after 2 years/28,000 miles for power, tighter handling and bigger brakes of the 2.7T. Loved my '98 but longed for more power.
Weakness:
Noticeably more wind noise than '98 A6 (dealer couldn't corrected this complaint). 17" tires are sorely missing from options list. Bose/CD changer combo was better with '98. Nice to have in-dash CD, but lacks punch of '98 package. $14k difference with '98 A6 trade. About 7% off list if you ignore the trade. A bargain compared to 5-series with quattro tossed in for free. Similar Products Used: Maxima, 5-series, 300M. Big step up in build quality, performance. My wife is catching on to my sudden desire to run all family errands. |

, A6 2.7T, 6 spd
Strength:
Build Quality, cockpit ergonomics, excellent performance
Weakness:
Car could benefit from slightly better fuel economy My as delivered price was $42,383. For that I received the 2.7T 6 spd, the cold weather package (heated seats and ski boot), the convience package (memory drivers seat and moonroof) as well as the Xenon headlights and Bose Symphony Sound system with in trunk CD changer. Similar Products Used: Last vehicle was a Nissan Maxima. The A6 was compared heavily with the BMW 540i, and the Lexus GS400. The Audi offers performance that is on par with both vehicles and the added security of All-wheel-drive that makes driving in any conditions trouble-free and very safe. |

Strength:
Solid smooth ride. Durable interior. Car has good acceleration.
Weakness:
Audi has a reputation that you should thank them for letting a dealer sell you an Audi. 3 recalls plus numerous manufacture defects that they would not even consider their fault. When I first bought the car, all 4 tires blew out in the course of 4 months. Electrical harness worn out. Dealer and Audi are convinced their car is elite and too bad if I feel different. After owning Audi's since 1885, I will never purchase one again. Remember they are salesmen. Nothing is their fault. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
GREAT BUILD QUALITY. THE BEST INTERIOR OF A PRODUCTION CAR I HAVE EVER SEEN. POWER OF THE BI-TURBO AND SAFETY OF QUATTRO.
Weakness:
CRAZY BUT NO LIGHT IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. OTHER THAN THAT THIS CAR IS NEARLY FLAWLESS. THIS IS A LEASE CAR AND THE STICKER IS $4OK. I BELIEVE THIS IS A RELATIVE BARGAIN FOR WHAT IS OFFERED IN THIS CAR AND COMPARABLE CARS. I WOULD DEFINATELY RECOMMEND THIS CAR TO ANYONE CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY, PERFORMANCE , GREAT LOOKS AND QUALITY. NO OTHER CAR IN THE WORLD OFFERS EVERYTHING THAT AUDI DOES COUPLED WITH QUATTRO ALL WHEEL DRIVE. I HAVE HAD THE CAR OUT IN THE RAIN AND CAN SAY THAT THERE IS NO REAL DIFFERENCE IN RIDE FEEL. YOU FEEL CONFIDENT AND DRY. THE SALESMAN SAID THIS WOULD BE THE CASE BUT I WAS A LITTLE SKEPTICAL. WELL HE WASN'T LYING. FOR 40 GRAND YOU CAN BUY A CAR THAT HAS TRIPTRONIC TRANSMISSION, SUNROOF, COLD WHEATHER PACKAGE - WITH HEATED FRONT AND REAR SEATS AND HEATED STEERING WHEEL TO BOOT!!!!! BMW AND MERCEDES BETTER TAKE HEED. Similar Products Used: BMW 5 SERIES AND MERCEDES E CLASS. SORRY NO QUATTRO GUYS!! |
