Strength:

Reliablity, rides like it is on rails, Nsx inspired suspension, good gas mileage, great brakes, easy maintenance, outstanding transmission, extremely quick from 60-100mph (3rd gear)

Weakness:

Alittle loud, when compared to my BWM 750il, but what isn't, other than that none.

My Acura is 10 yrs old and has 100,000 miles, I am still waiting for the 1st thing to go wrong with it! Besides normal maintance, it has been perfect, in fact it still drives and looks like new! It still has the original brakes both front and rear. I get about 25-30 mpg as well, and have had the car up to 137 mph! My point for writing this review is that I think it is amazing that a car can go 10 years with no problems, none. I read the other reviews at this site and so many people have to bring there new cars back within the 1st week for repairs! I did replace the exhaust this yr, but the salesperson told me when I bought it that I would have to have the exhaust replaced in 10 years, besides the scheduled maintance, he said that should be the next time you see us, and he was right! Eat your hearts out domestic car owners, why everyone (Who does not reguire a huge car) does not drive Acura's I'll never know.

power looks roomy interior DVD audio system hands-free bluetooth cell phone system (although I haven't used it yet) cupholders Did I mention looks???

Weakness:

brakes transmission fluid leaks pulls to right front-wheel drive (floaty side-to-side peformance when pushed off line)

Driven my 2004 Acura TL for 7 months now and the jury is still out. This car has been hyped big time in all of the leading automobile mags. It does have great looks. I opted for the 17" chrome wheels which adds to the car's already impressive, muscle looks. Nice interior. Happy with the legroom, headroom, etc. Back seat area comfortable and roomy. The DVD surround-audio system is incredible. Haven't yet used the bluetooth cell phone system, but look forward to using when I finally spring for a bluetooth-enabled phone. Not real happy with the handling. The car is fast...VERY fast. Excellent power. However, it works to the disadvantage of the TL because of front wheel drive and loose steering. The car is floaty and one must keep both hands firmly grasped on the steering wheel in order to keep the car in line. The car floats from left to right and vice versa when pushed off the line. I drove a BMW before, and now finally appreciate its rear-wheel drive performance. I miss rear-wheel drive big-time. Oddly enough, I have never heard or read a similar complaint about the TL. Makes me wonder if my car has a problem (yet another problem). Curious to know if other 2004 Acura TL owners have experienced the same thing. Many, many problems with the car, especially considering it is new. It has pulled to the right since the day I drove it off the lot new. Dealer has been cooperative with this issue, but so many other problems. Dealer rotated front tires to the rear, which eliminated the pull, but what happens when I'm ready for another 4-tire rotation? Pull may come back. I took ownership of the car with numerous scratches and dings...completely unacceptable for a brand new car. Dealer insenuated that I was responsible for scratches and dings, even though I brought the car back on the very next day after purchase. Needless to say, my new car buying experience didn't start great with my dealer. However, dealer finally relented and repaired the dings/scratches to perfection. The hood's paint was awful. Again, totally unacceptable for a new car. Several areas of "fogging". Dealer repainted the hood, but still not perfect. It is better, but not perfect. I wanted perfect considering a new car, but Acura couldn't deliver as such. What to do? The car has leaked transmission fluid since I bought the car. Took the car back to dealer and they made (supposed) repair of the trans case. Still leaks. Took car back for repair (yesterday), and dealer hopes to remedy this time around. Brakes have squeaked for weeks, and Acura says I already need new front breaks...after only 8,000 miles. AND...they won't pay for it. Dealer says I am "just beyond Acura's grace period for brakes". What a joke!!! Acura is not going out of their way to satisfy a new driver of their cars. I am used to BMW's 3 year/36,000 free scheduled maintenance. 8,000 miles and my TL needs new breaks...and Acura won't pay for it??? SO...does this car need new brakes every 8,000 miles? Guess so. Ridiculous. The memory seat function is funky and never quite works. Haven't figured it out yet. Works sometimes, but doesn't most other times. As I said, the jury is still out because of handling/peformance and to-date repairs. Hoping the next set of tires will alleviate the pull to the right. Hoping the new brakes give me longevity. Hoping Acura finally fixes my transmission leak. If so, I will hang in there with this car. The looks and power alone make the car worth keeping. I have rec'd many compliments about the car's appearance. It is a real looker! Mine is silver and the chrome wheels complete the look. Silver really emphasizes the car's clean lines. The power is incredible. As I said, it is very roomy and comfortable. And, the techno-gadgetry is fun and easy to use. Great cupholders- very deep. BUT...Acura needs to do a better job (or my dealer does) of delivering the car to a new customer. The amount of dings/scratches in my car was appalling. Bush-league!

Strength:

Great acceleration and looks nice.

Weakness:

All the bad stuff out-wieghs any good.

4 warranty repairs (trunk latch and alignment the first day, bad Firestone tires, car still pulling to one side) in less than 2 weeks and still a list of things wrong. I still have to take it back. He is a list of things wrong: driver window rattles unless cracked, passenger window sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard when rolled down, Voice Recognition randomly stops working, car pulls to one side after alignment and new tires, steering wheel not straight, center console between seats gets extremly cold when AC is on (causes condensation in storage compartment), headlights not aimed properly, and plastic "pins" that hold the trunk liner to the inside of deck lid keep popping out. I am thinking of contacting a lawyer.

I have been adding updates as I went along with this car. I really did like it. But...and there's always a but. At 10,800 miles, as I was taking the car in for an oil change and have them check out the tranny it happened. The tranny crapped out. My car was not part of any safety issues or recalls (they said my car already had the updated tranny). I was not a happy camper and they knew it. They invoked the Lemon Law and I drove away with an '04 Acura RL. Of course it is a beautiful car with all the bells and whistles. I will keep the forum updated on this vehicle as I go along. To any of you that the tranny's crapped out of I am sorry. The dealer should step up and make it right. I wasn't about to keep that car knowing the tranny's could keep crapping out as nauseaum. But I must say, the '04 Acura are fanastic vehicles I test drove them all).

Handling is easy. Upkeep is simple. Dealer service was excellent. If something wasn't done right, they would do it to our satisfaction. Discounts were offered for some maintenence.

Weakness:

Floormats costs $200 (I bargained for my for free). Good stereo--my van has a better sound.

Excellent car. I've owned several cars & this is by far the best. It's not as plush as American luxury cars, but it surely outperforms them. My wife is so sold on the TL that she plans to but another when she buys another. 5-Star rating.

Smooth, quite, powerful engine.Smooth ride and good handling. Very comfortable interior. Fit and finish are great.

Weakness:

needs premium fuel, sunroof does not have wind defector and also should have one toch open and or close feature. Hopefully not the transmission.

I jumped from a 2002 4 cyl accoord to the TL.My thinking was the Tl was a glorified accord. Boy was I wrong. The car has more driving dynamics. The feel the way it handles and how smooth the ride is. The engine just pulls all the way to 6 grand. This is an all aroung comfortable car. I am 6 2 and have no problem getting comfortable. The radio is fine, if you want more upgrade with an aftermarket unit. This car is not great but it doesn't dissapoint in any area. I have 24,000 problem free miles on it.

Power and handling. Love those memory seats (although I am the only one driving it-car wash attendants can really screw the seats up)No matter what peoplesay I have had no problems with the Bose sound system. No interference using my cell and just the right sound quality and volume for these old ears (I still rock)Great trunk space. I think it's sharp looking. That is why I bought an '03 because I ha seen the '04 body styles and I really did not like it. No problems with the paint chipping (as others have had)I can cruise all day in this puppy. At 75-80 mph tracks true and gives confidence.

Weakness:

The only "bad" thing I can bring up is my awareness that other 3.2's had transmission problems. There are times (and they are few and far between)when I feel "something". Nothing I can put my finger on. I just say hey...it's under warranty and they have 24 hour road side assistance.

Just an update to my original post. I now have 10000 miles and 7 months under my belt. I still love this car. Really nothing bad I can say about it. I leased this car and sad for Acura, when the lease is up I will be getting a Lexus, unless they do some drastic styling changes on the 2008 3.2.

Strength:

Dealer service! Acura 2000 in Brampton never ceases to amaze me. Overall, great bang for the buck!

Weakness:

1 year into lease another dealer in Toronto menationed to me reason for car stalling during winter months. Acura didn't account for detergents being placed in winter gas in northern States and Canadian Provinces. I was also told that the gas lines in car run extremely close to the engine block such that when there is detergent in the gas during winter months the gas would almost come to a boil in these gas lines before entering the engine for combustion. Michelin tires are very soft rubber, I will be on set #4 within the next few months! Last crticism is that my dealership would not negotiate with me for higher annual kms on lease. I travel with my car for sales, and found out about 1 year later that other dealerships in the Toronto area would negotiate higher annual kms for a higher monthly lease payment. This was upsetting to find out a year later. Next time I will shop around more and do my homework.

Firsy of all I just want to say that I am still in love with this car 4 years later. Lease began in January of 2000. I just bought the car out of the lease at 192K! If I had lower kms I would have considered migrating into a 2004 TL. After having driven this car for 4 years the only major replaced was the transmission at @ 150k kms and dealer did that for free as he claimed that there was a recall to a certain extent for this. Of course I was delighted by this as it was at their suggestion that it was replaced at no charge! Overall I have spent very little in maintenance on this car, breaks at 130k kms, and that's about it.

Engine, solid well built car. Surprisingly fast even though its not an "S" series.

Weakness:

Bose stereo is so-so. Odometer rattled a little when 2 way tape came loose.

I started out looking for a car priced between $22,000- $30,000. First i tried the 3 series beamer...fun to drive but a little small with a stark interior. i couldnt justify the hefty price tag. Then came a Maxima...also fun,but something was missing..i liked the beamer more than this. Lexus ES300 was a winner and i just about put an offer on one...until at the last second a test drove a TL. It was love at first drive...the perfect combination of fun and luxury. Very pleased and highly recommended.

Quality craftsmanship, very powerful smooth and quiet motor. Quiet interior and cutting edge technology. Fun car to drive and looks great.

Weakness:

Front wheel drive

Test drove a BMW 325i, 330i, Mercedes C230 Kompressor, C240, Infinity G35, Audi A4 1.8T, A4 2.4, Lexus EX 330 and the GS 300, along with the Acura. The only factory option is the voice reconition navigation system, which I got and had dealer install rear wing and wheel locks. I chose the Acura because it was the best car and the best value for the money. It's the only car to come with a dvd based audio system and and bluetooth technology. The engine produces 270 hp and getting 20 mpg around town and 29 freeway driving which is quite good. 17" wheels and double wishbone suspension for great handling and a comfortable ride. The interior is just beautiful and well done. 8" navigation touch screen which also intergrates the 6 disc cd, cdr,dvd-a changer, XM radio and 7 speakers ( 2 tweeters in dash with a middle speaker, 2 spealers in the door, 2 speakers and 1 subwoofer in the rear deck) fill out the system. There are many more features, but just too many to list. The Acura TL comes with a new exterior styling which in my opinion is a vast improvement over the older model TL models. Given all the features, performance, handling, creature comforts and at the price point it is was the best value for the money. Sports car handling and performance and the luxury of some of the best luxury cars, the combination can't be beat.
