Strength:

This car is the most fun I have driving in a long time.
It is also extreemly realiable.
It is a better handeling than some sports cars cousting many thousands more.

Weakness:

The seats are not to comfortable for long haul drives.

As good as or better handeling than other sports cars for a lot less money.
It is better looking also.

Weakness:

Hmm, if I had to say something I would say that the seats arent too comfortable if you are sitting in them for a very long time.

I recommend it because its a fun car and chicks dig it, well they dig mine anyways!!

Model Reviewed: Miata M-edition

Strength:

Excellent handling. Good brakes. Very reliable. Easy to work on and fairly inexpensive parts. One of the best-handling cars on twisty roads that is made. Very few cars in the world, at any price, are so balanced and quick. Rewards a driver that drives assertively and smoothly. Very high on the smiles-per-mile meter.

Weakness:

The Miata's very light weight means more noise comes through to the cabin (road noise, wind, hum from the exhaust) than I am used to. Drivers over 70 inches in height may have a problem with head clearance.

For the person who wants a good-handling, fun and reliable sportscar, the Mazda Miata is hard to beat. The M-edition that I purchased has all of the creature comforts added to it, with only the hardtop as an option. It includes leather interior, power brakes/steering/windows, ABS, AC, 8-speaker stereo/cd, limited-slip differential, 15-inch lightweight rims and high-performance tires. Used Miatas with less than 30K miles can be found for under $10000 USD, with many under $7000. If well maintained, Miatas regularly last over 250K miles.

Strength:

Pure driving pleasure - dollar for dollar, better value than the Boxter S! Responsive, reliable, moderately quick and purrrrrfect for the twisty mountain back-roads of SoCal - A good daily driver, and though my 6'1" frame fits snugly, I'm in no way, shape, or form uncomfortable in the least. Also, great community support for this car...

Weakness:

Wish is was just a 'lil bit quicker; blind spot with the top up; some leaks in those "power wash" car washes.

Puts the driver in touch with the road; great community support; topless fun; agile, fun, and quick; GREAT value for the price! And for a roadster, it's actually practical - as you can pack quite a bit in that little trunk. Furthermore, for just a few thousand dollars extra, you can make it as quick as a car more than twice its price!

Strength:

Nimble, quick, comfortable, adorable. Most fun that can be had for the price. The new optional 6 speed transmission gives you another gear to play with and the weight balance is exquisite. Had a deposit on an S2000 and cancelled it, pocketed the price difference, and haven't looked back since this car performs just as well at legal speeds.

Weakness:

Seriously? OK. I'd prefer an in-dash CD changer, but Mazda has their formula perfected, so why change anything? The car is so easily tunable, that anything you can't get from the factory, you can get from a speed shop.

I'd recommend it without reservation to anyone who has another vehicle. For us its a 2nd car and only comes out in good weather and when we don't need to lug much around with us. That's where its ideal, but many owners I talk to use it as a daily driver with few complaints. With the low price of admission and the low maintenance costs, its a bargain. For me there's nothing like top down motoring and there's nothing like a sports car running down twisty roads. With this car you get both in spades.

More fun than any other car I've owned. Nearly as much fun as the S2000 I've had the pleasure of driving on several occasions.

Strength:

Outstanding handling, nimble, responsive and neutral; excellent ergonomics; free revving, responsive engine; easy to operate top with excellent weather protection; Reliable, low maintenance.

Weakness:

You have to nit-pick to find something not to like! The chassis could be stiffer and was improved in later models, it can be improved with after-market parts.

The most automotive fun per dollar on the planet! I acquired the car from the original owner at 45K mi. It is a reliable daily ride in my 56mi./day commute and it provides a great attitude adjustment in the process, particularly with the top down. The top's ease of operation and low wind buffeting when down encourage top down use and the headrest speakers allow use of the stereo even at highway speed. At 60K mi and approaching 9 years, it still has the original battery and only tires, plug wires and brake pads have needed replacement since new (shocks and timing belt are now due).
Anyone who appreciates a responsive, precise handling vehicle should enjoy this car! It is not a pavement ripping, tire smoking "sports" car, although there are aftermarket parts available to accomplish that end, if desired. Its forte is in being a lithe, quick and nimble extension of the driver, a TRUE SPORTS CAR, yet it provides amenities to make the experience comfortable and practical in most any driving condition.

Similar Products Used:

Nothing comparable at near its price. I became enamored of sports cars in the early 60s and owned a '66 MGB. I think it compares best to the British/Italian roadsters of that period, combining some of the better elements and charm of the MGB, Lotus Elan and Fiat 124 while providing the reliability and amenities of a modern Japanese automobile.

Strength:

Great handling, great price, beautiful design, fuel efficient, fun to drive, a very helpful Miata community, and most importantly a CONVERIBLE!!!

Weakness:

I have a 1990 which as a "short nose crank shaft". It's basicly a design flaw which can cause the engine to fail and can happen at any time (but most commonly after a timing belt change). So far I have had no problems with it but I'm saving my money for a new engine. Very little trunk space. Rough shifting when cold, a very common problem.

Why would I recommend a Miata? Well it's really hard to say. Unlike other "cars" such as Corollas or Accords, the value of a Miata is not judged by the amount of trunk space or leg room but by the wind in your hair and the smile on your face. A Miata is not for everybody. If you're lookig for a practical daily driver then you'll complain that a Miata is too cramp, has too little trunk space, and is too noisy. If you are looking for something more than just a "car", something that'll make driving from point A to point B just a little more enjoyable, then a Miata is for you.

Handling, handling, handling. This is a real sports car no if, ands, or buts. Loves to be driven fast. Sounds nice. Great Value. Huge aftermarket. Miata.net.

Weakness:

i wish it had more power...wait think I'l buy that turbo..bye bye...'vettes.

If you are looking for a drivers car this one is for you. It gives you the whole experience. The car feels like an extention of your thoughts...amazing. This car was made for twisties and autocrossing.

If you are more concerned with straight line performance, this car will disappoint you without forced induction. But then look out.
