Strength:
NICE CAR AND STYLING. PLENTY OF ROOM. GOOD FUEL ECONOMY
Weakness:
SINCE CAR WAS PURCHASED CAR HAS PULLED TO THE LEFT AND REAL BAD AT OVER 50 MPH. BROUGHT BACK TO DEALER FOR SECOND TIME TO CORRECT AND SERVICE TECH STATED ON INVOICE THAT THIS IS HOW THESE CARS ARE WITH 18" WHEELS AND WITH THE SUSPENSION PACKAGE.HAD SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES IN PAST WITH WHEELS AND SPORT PACKAGES AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. NOT ONLY THE INCONVIENCE OF BRING CAR TO GET CORRECTED THE HASSLE OF NOT GETTING IT CORRECTED. DEALER LET US DRIVE ANOTHER WITH SAME PACKAGE AND CAR WAS WORSE AND WHEN APPLIED BRAKE HAD A CREAKING NOISE IN IT. I THINK THEY MIGHT HAVE A PROBLEM ON THERE HANDS WITH THIS NEW DESIGN. WAITING TO HERE FROM DEALER AGAIN TO BRING BACK FOR A THIRD TIME. OTHER THAT THE BAD PULL AT 40 MPH AND OVER THE CAR IS A NICE CAR. LITTLE ROUGH RIDE BUT THAT IS EXPECTED WITH WHEEL PACKAGE.ROAD NOISE FROM INSIDE CAR COULD BE QUIETER. |

Horn Love this car! I have owned 3 Honda EX Accords and Hyundai is what Honda was 10 yrs ago...alot for the money. Honda now is overpriced however still an excellent car. The SE has dual exhaust and the ride is great! Great gas mileage with a 200 HP 4 Cyl engine! |

Hyundia Sonta GSL 4-cyl, 5A
Strength:
The price, although I have learned or been reminded you get what you pay for. Good interior room, like dash instrument placement.
Weakness:
Poor ride quality, very rough ride. More engine noise than you would expect for a new car. Small annoyances like rattles from seat belt on the passenger side. The more seriour weakness is the rough road feel and poor ride quality. I think this is more a design flaw. Many reviews mention this problem. Take it for more than around the block test drive. You may make another choice froma more established and better quality auto maker. But it will cost you more. Is a word disappointing. Don't believe the hype about strides in quality. I can only imagine what the quality was like before it this is the best they can offer. THis is the only car in 40 years that I purchased new that I had no great "new car" feeling. THe poor ride quality overshadows everything good about the car. It's an appliance auto--gets you from A to B. I ownered Toyota for 30 years and never felt this way. Live and learn. There is a reason they are clearance sale priced, and come with a extended warranty. Similar Products Used: Toyota Camry |

Hyundai Sonata
Strength:
Gas-mileage (29 to 31 typical). Roomy interior and trunk, Comfy seats. Unbeatable warranty.
Weakness:
-Dash looks dated (since corrected with 2009).
Bought this after looking at similar class vehicles. Great power for 4-cyl (with manual transmission); smooth engine. Plenty of room, quiet. Loaded with excellent features: anti-lock brakes, stability control; lots of airbags.

Sonata
Strength:
Nice trunk. Steering wheel radio controls are nice also.
Weakness:
The 5 year warranty must be a farce since Hyundai refuses to repair the problem. If you are only going to drive around town this car may be ok but if you are going to take a 3000 mile trip like I did be ready to do it without cruise control. The cruise control will kick the transmission out of overdrive on every slight grade(overpasses, bridges etc.) one or more times in most every mile. You will get terrible fuel mileage while in cruise mode (23 mpg. or so)This will have to shorten the life of the transmission and is just plain irritateing. Also has alot of rattles and road noise. Strength:
V6 engine, sound system in the GLS is better than I thought it would be, ease of use of all controls during the day.
Weakness:
Sunroof, a/c vents, and steering wheel controls have no lighting during the night Love this car. The V6 engine makes the car go like stink. Love the leather, with kids makes more sense than cloth. I tries all the cars in this class. The camery was nice but too expensive for the V6, the malibu was over priced; gm needs to realize that foreign carsd are taking over. I had a GM all my life until this car. It was the best warranty in the bussiness and the best value. If they give me a 5 year warranty, it must be good. Oh, did I mention "fast". Sonata GLS 2009
Strength:
Comfort. Gas mileage. Design-everything is within easy reach for driver and makes perfect sense. There is a light around the ignition switch (the lack of that drove me nuts with my old car.) Can't lock yourself out of the car. Has integrated I-Pod system. Auto lights. Love that the radio is contolled on the steering wheel. 60/40 split rear seat. Huge trunk.
Weakness:
None that I can see so far!!! LOVE IT!!! And after reading all the other reviews about the Altimas, am I ever glad I went with the Sonata. (thought I wanted the Nissan Altima). My Sonata has 4 cyl engine-but you would swear it is a 6 cyl., power seats, sunroof, XM radio, rides like a dream, gets great gas mileage. I have always been a buy in America kinda of person. A Ford person. This is built in Alabama..so this is a good fit for me. And since Ford has sent so much work to Mexico and Ford's vehicles have gone down hill so much since the earlier days.......

Strength:
Engine, transmission, suspension, stereo (adjusted the audio controls it has some boom!) interior quality, exterior quality very nimble and light on its feet steering is precise and communicates the manumatic transmission is the best and holds revs!!!
Weakness:
none at all! This has to be one of the best cars in the market! I have the 2.4L GLS model with the necessary stuff that is standard on all Hyundai's plus I got a moonroof and power seats! I work for a Nissan dealership and was planning on getting the new 2008 Altima but I never liked it, even now! This Sonata has the best interior and exterior quality and I have to say that the great materials on this vehicles don't fade as quickly or get scarred as my previous vehicle a 2006 Altima 3.5SE. This is a fun to drive vehicle and it looks good from every angle, unlike the current Altima with it's nasty styling, bad interior space and the same goes for the coupe. It also feels more substantial, compared to the 2008 Altima and it has a great warranty! I've owned a Hyundai before and this company has come up from what they were 20 years ago! I love my Hyundai and would purchase another one. The Altima is too hyped up and gimmicky for my taste and it isn't the best vehicle out there. The interior quality is sub par, the ride and handling is more sporting but it feels less substantial compared to other cars in its class. Also the entry level models don't come with the standard features that my Sonata has. It may rate high with consumer reports but in a current Motortrend comparison test it got a 4th place win, not to mention the Altima coupe lost to an Accord Coupe in an Edmunds.com comparison test and in a Car and Drive comparison test it again lost to the current generation Accord. If you look at the Altima it is quite small compared to other cars in its class. |
