$23000.00 Year / Model Reviewed: 1999 GMC Suburban SLT Summary: With an expanding family, I needed to get a bigger vehicle. After doing the research on SUV's with a 3rd seat, I eliminated the Dodge Durango (safety issues, lack of room, and gas mileage). I looked at Suburbans and Expeditions. Quite simply there is no comparison.
I am extremely happy with the Suburban. Shortly after purchasing it I installed an AirAid Air Intake system with a K&N filter and the PowerAid throttle body spacer (www.airaid.com). On a recent trip to North Carolina I got almost 19 mpg with a fully loaded vehicle, including stuff packed on the roof rack.
Strengths: Secure feeling of the vehicle. Leather interior is nice. Space is unbelievable. King of the Road feeling is great! Weaknesses: Gas mileage could be better, but my modifications have helped that by a couple mpg. And realistically you can't have a vehicle this big and safe and expect subcompact gas mileage!
Third seat can be tricky to get into. I just leave the part of the 2nd seat folded down unless I need that seating. Similar Products Used: There is no comparable vehicle. This sets the standard
