Review 2 of 42

Price Paid:  $23000.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
1999 GMC Suburban SLT

Summary:
With an expanding family, I needed to get a bigger vehicle. After doing the research on SUV's with a 3rd seat, I eliminated the Dodge Durango (safety issues, lack of room, and gas mileage). I looked at Suburbans and Expeditions. Quite simply there is no comparison.

I am extremely happy with the Suburban. Shortly after purchasing it I installed an AirAid Air Intake system with a K&N filter and the PowerAid throttle body spacer (www.airaid.com). On a recent trip to North Carolina I got almost 19 mpg with a fully loaded vehicle, including stuff packed on the roof rack.

Strengths:
Secure feeling of the vehicle. Leather interior is nice. Space is unbelievable. King of the Road feeling is great!

Weaknesses:
Gas mileage could be better, but my modifications have helped that by a couple mpg. And realistically you can't have a vehicle this big and safe and expect subcompact gas mileage!

Third seat can be tricky to get into. I just leave the part of the 2nd seat folded down unless I need that seating.

Similar Products Used:
There is no comparable vehicle. This sets the standard

Review 3 of 42

Price Paid:  $33000.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
1999 gmc suburban

Summary:
Diesel engine produces lots of pulling power, but it''s reputation for a faulty fuel injection pump came to reality for me. GM replaced pump and warrantied for 7/120k. Love the room for family, friends, etc. Easier than you would think to manuever/park, etc. Withstood rear end collision with a semi-truck with only bumper/receiver damage. As I''ve read from others; brakes are adaquate at best. Once you get a feel for the truck, they''re acceptable but is definitely the design flaw that needed to be addressed. Air conditioning isn''t as cold or strong as you might expect-but again, adaquate. Overall, as others have expressed, you get about as secure a feeling for your family and yourself as you could get. Disc brakes all around with the new Duramax and I think GM should have a winner. Wouldn''t have anything else after having a Suburban-spoils you!!

Strengths:
Diesel power, room for 8 comfortably, security

Weaknesses:
Brakes, Air Conditioning

Review 4 of 42

Price Paid:  $18000.00 from fletcher in arkansas

Year / Model Reviewed:
1999 gmc suburban

Summary:
This is and awsome truck. When I bought the truck it already had 15 inch chrome deep dish wheels and 275 60 15inch tires. I did notice it takes alittle more to stop and alot of brake dust least than a day later, but the size the look and the all around feeling you get when it is clean and everybody is looking at it is wonderful. I am in the air force and me and my buddies cruise alot and it gets alot of attetion because I am only 20 years old driving a 99 burban.

Strengths:
power and looks
