Review 1 of 22

Price Paid:  $22000.00 from Fremon GMC

Year / Model Reviewed:
2005 1500 Cargo Van

Summary:
This is my second Savana in 6 years. The first one was very reliable and w/o any mechanical problems. The only problem I had was with the wire touching the brake pedal witch was killing my brake lights everytime I used them. They lokated the problem quiet quickly.
This new 2005 model is OK. Bigger wheels which give you the feeling of slower acceleration. The engine vibrates when the engine is cold and lasts until you warm it up or you drive faster than 5 miles/hour. There is a recall for the safety belts.
I wish to have a 2500 series model to have more power. Other than that I still like it and I would probably buy the same Van in the future.

Strengths:
Roomy, Good looks with the upgrated package for the front, Confortable.

Weaknesses:
More responsive sifting.

Review 2 of 22

Price Paid:  $35000.00 from Buz Post GMC

Summary:
There is vibration in the driver's side rear view mirror. I was told from the service advisor that this has been a problem on this van. She told me that there was not a solution. I called the Customer Assistance line and got no help. I then filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and got a call from another GMC Assistance person. A couple of days later he told me that he talked to a regional service manager and there was nothing GMC could do for me. I'm in the process of going to arbitration with the BBB and GMC. Has anyone had a problem with the outside rear view mirrors vibrating?

Strengths:
My wife and I love the way it drives and handles.

Weaknesses:
steering had to be serviced within days. It was catching during turns.

Review 3 of 22

Price Paid:  $12500.00 from Mcfarland Motors

Year / Model Reviewed:
2002 Savana 2500

Summary:
Well my first GMC product and a lot of these reviews are beginning to scare me...I bought it used with 30000 miles on it for 12,500...obviously the price was the reason for the purchase...COnsumer reports gave it terrible reviews but I dont know how much clout to give consumer reports...if this van goes another 70,000 miles without any major repairs...i.e..$300.00ish will be considered relatively minor than it will be considered a good vehicle(Its not a Toyota so we cant excpect over 300,000) but well see. The speedometer will slip now and then...I hear some people say..."So far so good" when the vehicle only has 20 to 40,000 miles on it..but that is not what you should say....70 to 80000 miles on a problem free vehicle is .."So far so good."

Strengths:
Roomy, Looks nice(big deal the internal parts are what matters...kind of like a person).allright power

Weaknesses:
You just dont get that secure feeling like when driving a Toyota or an older model Ford...WHEN IS TOYOTA GOING TO MAKE A CARGO VAN !!

Similar Products Used:
NONE...but I did have a 1988 Ford 150 that I used for painting even pulling a 12 foot cargo trailer for a while that never gave me any MAJOR problems..I beat on it...never really maintained it and changed its oil only when I thought about it..it had 190000 on it when I got rid of it but I still wish I never had

Price Paid:  $35000.00 from Lou Sahb

Year / Model Reviewed:
2000 /Savana

Summary:
We have a Souther Comfort Conversion Van. We have loved our van it is a nice solid running vehicle. I always had Fords in the past - I will never go back!

Strengths:
Tight engine, great air in rear, good visibility, super running - we have taken multiple road trips and it has been great!

Weaknesses:
Transmission went out at 44,000 and I have heard that is typical. I was not happy. Passenger front seat needs better leg room Vibration in driver mirror breaks seem to need replacing a lot!

Review 5 of 22

Price Paid:  $33400.00 from Pitre Automotive Cen

Year / Model Reviewed:
2000 Savana

Summary:
The electrical in these vans are no good. Since the first day I purchased the vehicle, I have had nothing but electrical problems, I dealer cannot fix them, I keep taking it out of the shop with another electrical problem. I finally called GMC Assistance and they are worthless and washed their hands of the problem. I will never buy another GMC vehicle again, those folks just don't care.

Strengths:
Comfortable, good engines.

Weaknesses:
If you have an ongoing problem with your vehicle, GMC does not care, bottom line.

Similar Products Used:
I owned a Safari and it too had electrical problems.
