Yakima 9mm Standard Bike Mount

Summary:
The front skewer got rusted into place after a few years use. I had to get the skewer assembly replaced. Keep the skewer lubed inside its housing and you should be okay.

Summary:
It is a good basic bike carrier. I think that the other Yakima models do the job better. It does not lock, a separate lock is required.

If you are starting out, it is a good buy and good product. If you have a little more to spend, buy one of the other models. You will upgrade eventually anyway.

Strengths:
Basic solid product, good value

Weaknesses:
Doesn't hold my mt. bike's wide downtube. Separate front wheel holder is easy to mis-install. I lost a tire becuase it was not securely fastened.

Summary:
skewers froze in place after 1 year(no winter use)had to be removed and driven free,cleaned and lubed.if i were to buy a new set i would take them apart and lube them with a good anti-seize from day one.
