from Sunrise Toyota Year / Model Reviewed: 2004 RAV4 Summary: Within only a few months of hip replacement recovery, my wife needed a more suitable vehicle to ride in and eventually drive herself. The '04 RAV4 was the only product that fit the criteria for such a need. As we drove up to dealers, it was fun to see how they approached their prospective customer, a hip replacement survivor. We were cognizant of fuel economy, head room and entry and egress ability but two factors rated the most important: 1.) a very minimal door threshold 2.) effortless to get into and get out of. The RAV4 Limited Edition met these requirements by the leather seats and hardly any threshold. We are not short folk and so headroom was a bonus.
The color is stunning and the vehicle is shorter than our previous car, an Acclaim. We use Amsoil Car Polish and get comments regularly on how great it looks. The leather is easy to keep in like new condition with Amsoil's Vinyl & Leather Cleaner and the Protectant. The dealer approved the application of Amsoil's XL-7500 synthetic engine lubricant. This is, in my opinion, partly the reason why we experience good fuel economy, contrary to what I've heard others say about the fuel economy of the RAV4.
A fender-bender has to be the worst experience imaginable after buying such a great vehicle. Our Toyota dealer helped us with everything we needed to get everything back to the show room "love affair" we had only ten months ago. It wasn't serious, the spare tire cover and rear hatch door needed some work. Strengths: Easy to drive, slide in and out of and reliable handling in winter, good visibility. The leather seats feel luxurious. Weaknesses: Considering the price, it's too bad it isn't made in America, ie. Canada or U.S.A. Similar Products Used: We tried a dozen other SUV's.
