Price Paid:  $85.00 from truck stop

Year / Model Reviewed:
2000 cobra 9000

Summary:
This radar detector i thought was a great buy for $80, however i was new to the radar game and didn't think much about features such as sensitivity and false alarms. I had the inclination that most detectors did basically the same thing as far as warning you about cops radar. I actually used the detector frequently for about a year and have never had it go off for an actual officer using some sort of radar, and this was driving major routes. It has the habit to only go off for road-work signs and security systems from office building and so on. Well this all changed on august 22 2003 when i was cruising on rte15 in Pa. doing 81mph in a 55 and was stopped by a cop. The detector went off right before the officer put his lights on and pulled out off his hiding spot.

Strengths:
People will think your a badass with it in your windshield

Weaknesses:
Very poor response times to detection, you almost have to right in the officer radar zone for the cobra to go off, by then its way to late. The audio levels are also not loud enough with windows down and the light display is barely visible in daylight.
