Price Paid:  $160.00 from ebay

Year / Model Reviewed:
1995 orion 225 hcca

Summary:
i bought this amp off of ebay about 2 months ago i worked in a car audio shop as an installer and my general manager was a big fan or old school orion and when i was getting ready to buy everything that i needed to do it i wasnt sure of what amp to go with and he talked me into a old school orion from back in his day well at first i was unsure untill he showed me what they could do and how high qualaty they were that was when i decide to buy this great amplifire i give it a 10 out of 10

Strengths:
the amount of power that these amps can produce it is unbelivable how strong they are the fact that you canoad this amp down to a 1/4 ohm is unreal in this day and age they are so under rated and pack more punch that what you can get these days and the qualaty of a u.s.a. made amp is great keep em' in the u.s.a. and you will always get better products

Weaknesses:
to under rated and it sure dose a lot of current draw that no cap. it going to help a sencond battery is the only way to go or you will starve the amp for current draw and loose power and nobody wants that right???

Similar Products Used:
u.s.amps are also of good qualaty and are vary under rated also

Review 3 of 24

Price Paid:  $150.00 from ebay

Year / Model Reviewed:
?? Orion HCCA 225

Summary:
Got this amp used off of ebay a couple of months ago. I didn't realize how small this amp was until it arrived (think notebook paper - 11"X8.5"X2.25")! I installed it in the back of my '02 4Runner w/a 1 F cap and tested it...not bad. Then I cranked up the volume for the first time... >. I have it pushing 2 new ('03) Kicker CVR 12's (dual 4O's)wired parallel for a 1O load in a custom Subzone vented enclosure tuned to 38 Hz. The subs are well controlled and hit extremely hard. I have the gain turned up just a bit past half and that's all I need from it with the EQ button ON. Mfr. 1O rating: 400W @ 12V. With correct installation, you'll prob. see 500+W @14.4V (1O). Gotta love old school (Dig. Ref.)HCCA's! ****Newer Orion stuff (G4) is now owned by DEI... they own PPI and a/d/s, too****

Strengths:
BIG POWER from SMALL AMP!! Competition power ratings (25W X 2) Still pretty for an old amp

Weaknesses:
Wiring harnesses could have been better designed. The remote lead and speaker leads in the same Molex connector? What do I do with the unused YLW & BLK/ORG speaker leads? Have to open amp chassis to access standard 8 AWG power leads (to lengthen). No internal x-over (OK, not necessarily a bad thing).

Similar Products Used:

Review 4 of 24

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
This amp is a classic. I have a 1998 model and it still kicks butt. It is currently running two bazooka 6.5 in tubes and it sounds great. It is installed in a 1996 Toyota 4-runner. The amp is wired parallel so it is pushing approximately 200 watts.

Strengths:
Clean amp. Very powerful. Candy apple red!

Weaknesses:
The wiring harness isn't very user friendly.

Similar Products Used:
It is equal to the Orion 275-sx.
