Review 1 of 8

Price Paid:  $0.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
2005 Sony Xplode

Summary:
I've owned this amp for a few years now and have recently had many over current faults on it. I have it used with a Blaupunkt Syracuse and one Sony xplode 10" sub. Love the Syracuse, but not so much the Sony amp. It's well beyond the warranty period and decided to look at it internally. What I found was that the power wires had either pulled on the connection to the curcuit board internally and separated the ground connection, or it simply overheated the connection and fryed it. I had to re-solder the connection to the curcuit board and it worked for a little while but now I'm having over current faults again. Maybe they just didn't design it with a good enough connection to the curcuit board???

Strengths:
Great sound with the right head unit! Don't try it with a head unit not designed for amplifiers. The sound quality is greatly compromised.

Weaknesses:
Over heats on hot days or at high demands, + the over current fault is getting old.

Review 2 of 8

Price Paid:  $0.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 XM754SX

Summary:
I bought this amp and have yet to have any major difficulties with it.. I think it went into overcurrent once when i was installing it - and blew 2 fuses - but fixed that easy enough.. went into thermal once cause i had the thing BOOMING (maxed Bass Boost, 300hz, FULL gain, Full Bass and Loudness on the Sony Head unit) through the amp and it did overheat - again my fault and nothing i couldn't fix - but this amp is sweeeet - i have had some sound systems before and this is the best amp i've used.

Strengths:
Really good sound reproduction to 6x9's and satisfying rumble from the Sub.

Weaknesses:
This amp acts as a radiator!!!

Review 3 of 8

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
Would not recommend this Amp. I have had this amp for a little over a year and from day one had problems with it overheating. And then as if that wasn't enough, conveniently as soon as my waranty was up, it went into OverCurrent Protection leaving me with nothing. Gotta love Sony......

Strengths:
Looks kinda cool.

Weaknesses:
Overheating and Overcurrent

Similar Products Used:
Xplod Head Unit, works fine

Year / Model Reviewed:

Summary:
Sounded good running 2-12" Sony X-plods but no matter what your adjustments are at the amp gets VERRY HOT on the subwoofer circut. When you get the overcurrent protection and check the subwoofer circut it is grounded out... Or Burnt up. Nice for Mids and Highs... but running a sub.... not my choice...

Strengths:
nice mids and highs

Weaknesses:
overheats with subwoofers

Sony X-plod reciever... Like it.... Sony X-plod subs 12" Like it..... AMP SUCKS!!!!!
