Year / Model Reviewed:
2006 Toyota Sequoia

Summary:
Just picked her up after researching the 4Runner. I made the last second decision to pick up the Sequoia because I saw it and WHAM! Fell in love with it. Im a single guy who has had (and still does) sports cars and bikes and just wanted a cool Vegas cruiser. This rig rocks! I read allllllll the negatives from all the web sites. Spent 6 hours one long night and several hours on several nights picking and searching all the "goods" and "bads". Im am somewhat versed on driving and capabilities in driving that I thought I'd share my experience. Many people will say, "Oh this is the best car Ive ever had!" Or some other crap because THEY BOUGHT IT! Of course human nature is gonna kick in and everyone thinks they "gotta a great deal" and "it rides so smooth!" Well this is an unbiased, swear to God review. Im a retired G.I. (23 years Air Force) and I will give ya the no bull review. First Impression: A Large,Cheap Land Cruiser! Second Impression: Thump goes the door! What a solid sound! Third Impression: Sound of engine upon starting was awsome. After letting er' warm up, I was off. Comy seating, controls at great reac, and smooth movement. Ive had many, many new cars. They all ride smooth at first. This one carressed the pavement. Excelleration kinda scared me. Just touching it and it OVER REACTED! Not a good thing when it shoots forward just by tapping the gas at green. Gas milage sucks but that'll teach ya to keep it slow! Room? No need to elaborate other than YES! Very versitile. Move second row forward and walah! You got Limo for third row! Rear heith adjustment also rocks! Push a button and your rear end is up or down! I have the 2nd row with console and Captains chairs. Friends love it! Latly, the steering in nimble and responsive. All in all? Handles most awsomely!!!! I payed chump change for this going through Costco. I put 20 grand down and my payments are 2 and change a month. I installed a spoiler on rear, tint, dash cover, rubber Sequoia mats and wood dash cover all from e-bay. I get many compliments. Plus major respect at 4 way stops! Buy this SUV!

Strengths:
Looks of vehical, Stares from others, questions of "doesnt that cost 50 grand?", and room!

Weaknesses:
Gas. Thats it!

Review 4 of 109

Price Paid:  $40000.00 from Conicelli Toyota

Year / Model Reviewed:
2005 Sequoia SR5

Summary:
At 7800 miles, water pump broke lose, coolant drained out of radiator, car made a horrible sound and came to a stand still in rush hour traffic. Dealership replaced water pump & radiator-no coolant found in spark plug tubes or in the oil, however I have a grave concern re:the possible damage to pistons inside of motor. No way to tell unless engine motor is completely taken apart. BE CAREFUL that this doesn't happen to you!

Strengths:
Rides well, lots of room, fits a family of 6 comfortably

Weaknesses:
The fact that it broke completely down after 7800 miles is completely UNACCEPTABLE!!!!! Loved it until then! SCARY-glad the 4 kids were not in the car at time of breakdown.

Review 5 of 109

Price Paid:  $32000.00 from Roseville Toyota

Year / Model Reviewed:
2004 Toyota/Sequoia sr5

Summary:
I was actually condiering purchasing a smaller SUV, based on gas mileage. However, after reading how every SUV is torn appart by complaints, I have decided to keep my Sequoia. I even read all the many complaints about the Sequoia. I have to say, it all depends on how you take care of your car. This SUV has been a dream, it pulls my 3000lb boat no problem and rides like a car. The gas peddle is extremely responsive, but who would not want that. I am 6'2" and I am really comfortable in this SUV, even sleeping/camping the back. There are no rattles and this inside is silent. The best apect of the Sequoia is the resale value. With large SUV sales being down for the first time in 2004, the Sequoia still holds it value incredibly. Try booking out an Escalade in the same year and it has already depreciated $10K. If you buy this SUV and take care of it, you will love it!!!

Strengths:
Solid construction, smooth handling, quiet interior, incredible shape, JBL 10 speaker system is awsome and I am a stereo enthusiast. I have always been one to replace the stock stereo, but on this one I have had no need too.

Weaknesses:
The only bad thing that I have found is that when I replaced the wheels with after market TRD wheels, I cant get rid of the vibration. I have had them balance three times and had Discount Tire's Road Match Balance and still it vibrates at certain speeds. I was told by the dealership, that Toyota's are just extremely sensitive to balancing. I had a Tundra with the same problem. If anyone could help me here as to how to get rid of this problem it would be great appreciated. Gas milleage is also horrible 14-18. However, after reading reviews of the small SUV's MDX, Pilot and Highlander of people who are getting the same milleage, I gusess I cant complain. They cant tow a 3,000lb boat with eases.
