Review 1 of 198

Year / Model Reviewed:
pre 1997 Trooper

Summary:
(pre 1997 Model) - I haven't had any mechanical problems with it with 70,000 miles, with the exception of the spark plug wires going bad. Like the other reviewer said, watch the oil...mine needs about 1 quart per 2000 miles. First japanese vehicle that I've owned that required oil between oil changes.

Strengths:
Cavernous size, reliability, supportive seats on LS model

Weaknesses:
Wind noise under windshield trim, slightly underpowered (mine is 1995 model, only 175 hp), oil consumption, cheapo cloth on seats, high center of gravity

Review 2 of 198

Summary:
(pre 1997 Model) - I paid only $20,000 for this baby in 1997, and have been happy ever since. Keep changing the oil and everything else seems to keep on ticking. Have had it off road (nothing serious) and in 4-wheel and these features are very easy to access and use. Lots of space in back seat and in storage area in back. Happy!

Strengths:
Very reliable

Weaknesses:
None thus far

Review 3 of 198

Price Paid:  $18000.00 from City Isuzu, Jacksonv

Year / Model Reviewed:
2004 Trooper S 4wd

Summary:
Bought it new. I researched SUVs extensively before trading my 1998 Pathfinder and I wouldn't be thinking about trading it in except for severe carpal tunnel in both wrists. I have never had better service from a dealership or a more reliable vehicle. The Trooper drives and rides more like a truck, excellent design inside and out.

Strengths:
Reliable, sturdy vehicle. Excellent value and warranty. Isuzu dealers really cater to their customers. Roomy, well designed interior and plenty of power to tow a camper or boat. Gas Mileage not bad (17 city, 21 highway).

Weaknesses:
Rides, drives like a truck, steering wheel seems larger than needed. Turning radius wide when compared to Pathfinder and 4 runner. Note that before carpal tunnel, I had no problems with this vehicle at all! Why did Isuzu stop making the Trooper?

Similar Products Used:
Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota 4 Runner, Suzuki Sidekick; (Suzuki was a bad, bad, bad car/manufacturer)

Review 4 of 198

Price Paid:  $3200000.00 from Dealership

Year / Model Reviewed:
2003 Isuzu Trooper

Summary:
Love the ride! This is by far the smoothest riding vehicle I've owned. I love it for traveling and so much smoother that I ever imagined. I don't want to trade it in due to increase gas prices. But thought about it for a minute. This SUV is worth keeping even at the higher gas prices. I wish I could get a sunroof added and not have problems with leaking. Greatest car buy I've made

Strengths:
Smooth ride. Turbo on demand. Love the get up and go. I'm a safe but a little aggressive driver. This suv gets me where I'm going.

Weaknesses:
Gas Mileage. 17-18 city.

Similar Products Used:
Jeep Cherokee.

Review 5 of 198

Price Paid:  $15000.00 from Friend

Year / Model Reviewed:
2003 Isuzu Trooper

Summary:
As always, I'm very impressed with Isuzu's diesel engines. Trooper was the best SUV full size that Isuzu ever had, it's just sad that they stop manufacturing it and replaced it with a non-comparable substitute "Altera". The trooper handles very well and the "boxy" design and feel just suits my driving style. The power of a Trooper is uncomparable, and th elonger you drive it the better the engine goes. i never tried abusing it though, but some of my friends really drove it as if there will be no tomorrow! imagine trecking and going to cities 'till it reached 1000 miles!!! and it never choked! To those who's thinking to buy a Trooper... GO FOR IT. IT'S THE BEST full size SUV.

Strengths:
POWER, DURABILITY, STABILITY and REABILITY. - just don't forget your periodic maintenance service check up. very important!

Weaknesses:
Can't think of any as far as my experince is concern. But Gas consumption is not an issue for me, just enjoy your RIDE!

Similar Products Used:
Ford Expedition, Toyota Fortuner, Toyota Landcruiser.
