The 2008 Grand Marquis is a 4-door, 6-passenger family sedan, available in two trims, the GS and the LS.
Upon introduction, both trims are equipped with a standard 4.6-liter, V8, 224-horsepower, flexible fuel engine. A 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.
Weaknesses: Needs more modern dashboard styling. Needs rear sensor for parking.

Summary: nice car. rides great. price was so low to pass on this great car. no complaints so far. they just extended the power train warranty before i bought which is another plus. has leather, remote start, sirius satellite radio which is unnecessary but addictive.
Strengths: nice ride. comfortable. great space for kids in back with thier own reading lights, arm rest and well designed cup holders. extra power port for accessories. good road tripper. gas mileage so far about 24 highway. good for grocery shopping too. trunk is enormous.
Weaknesses: front CUP HOLDER designed back in the 70's around a gigantic ash tray area.
gas mileage in city driving so far averaging 18 mpg.

Summary: OK so I was looking for a car to replace my beloved Saab 900 Turbo, it reached 200K miles and it was just time. I checked out the Grand Marquis at my Dad's request, he wanted me to get an american car this time. I tested a 2006 Grand Marquis GS. It was the worst car I had ever driven. First the car is big and heavy, over 4000lbs(bigger then most SUVS). I started to drive and realized that the V8 is the worst engine ever. My Saab had a 2.0L 4 cyl and produced almost as much hp as this car. It was slow and I was really afraid to get on the highway because I didnt think it was make it to speed in time. Seriously do no buy this car.
Strengths: trunk space.
Weaknesses: Lack of power, auto trans, handles like a drunk elephant, brakes are about as good as using your feet, horrible interior, primitive engine and suspension, rear seat room, driving position, body on frame construction makes for rattles over bumps, the automatic constantly up shifts at horrible times, size makes it hard to park, styling looks to be the most boring design in the history of man, and rear mirror gets in your way all the time.

Year / Model Reviewed: 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis
Summary: 2004 Merc Grand Marquis: 58,000 miles when purchased....now has 61000.
The last of it's kind......V8, rear wheel drive, full size, full frame, American (Canadian built) car. Plentiful options and good power. The car is equipped with traction control, AM-FM stereo w/cassette and CD player, A/C, cruise, tilt, power drivers seat, adjustable pedals and cloth interior.
I recently took this car on a 1000 mile (nearly) trip through Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia and into Tennessee. I encountered many steep grades in southern West Virginia. The 4.6L engine handled them with ease and averaged almost 27mpg. The seats are large and comfortable with plenty of room to move around. The non-power passenger seat sets a little low to the floor for my liking but power seats for the passenger would cure this.
The only problem with this car was a bad front wheel bearing (was bad when I purchased the car). It was easy enough to replace but was fairly pricey.....$180 from NAPA. I didn't mind paying a little extra for this part as it's made in the USA (keep yourself AND your neighbors working).
The handling isn't bad but could be a bit better but I'd rather have a smooth ride over sportier handling.
This car seems to handle a little better than the '97(ish) Marquis that I recently drove.
Needs rear seat cup holders and the front seat cup holders need to be moved out from in front of the heater controls.
If you're looking for a vehicle with a smooth ride, smooth power, seating for six and plenty of trunk space, the Grand Marquis/Crown Victoria is hard to beat.
Strengths: Full frame, full size, V8, smooth-ample power, smooth ride, seating for six, easy to read instrument cluster, fuel mileage, storage space, decent price.
Weaknesses: non-lighted cruise control buttons, cup holders, size, handling.

Year / Model Reviewed: 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis LS
Summary: About a couple of months ago I purchased a new 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis LS. Let me tell you, this car is great and loaded with alot of luxury features. Such as A.B.S., cruise control, leather seats, dual air bags, power seats/mirrors/windows, storage compartments, power adjustable foot pedals, compass, map lights, automatic garage door opener, theft system, key code, keyless entry system etc..... Ford Motor company is the only one building cars like this. The Grand Marquis is related to the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car in every way. These three cars drive exactly the same. When you drive these three big old fashion cars, it feels like your back in 1979 due to its old interior and exterior design. The car has a 4.6 Liter V8 engine which produces around 224 horsepower. 224 horsepower for a 4,000 pound car. Don't kid yourself, the car will hit 0-60 in less then 8 seconds. The engine in this car should really have a 6.0 Liter V10 engine which produces 345 horsepower. That would be really great if Ford did that in the future. Can you believe that the Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, and the Lincoln Town Car are longer then most full size suv's. Such as the Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator, and Cadillac Escalade. Then you must know that the cars must be really big. So basically if you're looking for a nice old big traditional car and don't want to spend alot of money on full size suv's or pick up truck then the Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis, and the Lincoln Town car is right car for you.
Strengths: Big, Tough, Powerful
Weaknesses: Difficult to park in small areas
