Summary:
Do not rent from Fox Rent-A-Car.

I have been renting from Fox Rent-A-Car, LAX since November 2007. I have not received any of my "Rewards" although I have asked for them on several occasions. I have been told that there was a computer glitch, but have yet to receive them. On the last two occasions, I have dealt with a very rude woman named Joanna. I plan on filing complaints against Fox with the state of California and the Better Business Bureau. There must be some law that prevents renting cars with over 30,000 miles that are more than a year old. Additionally, I am sure that there is some regulation regarding charges. Joanna promised to let me renew my contract without a $10 additional rate and when I went to the agency, she had a brain fart. She said she never promised anything. As a courtesy, she agreed to rent me the car for 6 additional days at $70+ dollars. Heck the weekly rate was $113.46.

Initially, I was charged a concession charge. Later, I found out that I lived in a zip code in which that charge was not applicable. I have not received a reimbursement.

Most currently, the charges for a week rental are more than the daily rate. In LA, the rates are astronomical.

I have not been able to get any information regarding the corporate office. I am sure Fox has a board of directors and it is my mission to file a complaint, get my Rewards, be reimbursed for the concession charges, and anything else I can think of.

If anyone knows how to contact the corporate office, please email me at toniw46@aol.com

Strengths:
None

Weaknesses:
Poor Customer Service and cars that are not of a high quality.

Price Paid:  $95.00 from SAN JOSE

Year / Model Reviewed:
 Chevy Malibu

Summary:
Fox Rental Car

I have had very bad experience in renting the car from Fox Rental on 6/14/2008, 11am, at San Jose Airport. I mentioned 12pm as my approximate rental pickup time, and due to 30 minutes delay with Atlanta-SJC flight, me and my wife reached fox rental outside booth by 11.30pm. First of all the computers were down at that time at the main fox rental location. We ended up walking in hot sun towards the rental booth.
At the booth Mr Daniel initially told us that we have to just wait for few minutes to pick up our car since they were waiting for car returns. After waiting for 30 minutes I talked to Mr Daniel asking him to upgrade or give us another car, and he said there was no car available, so we would have to wait. We had been waiting for 30 minutes in mid noon sun by then. After another 30 minutes my wife also got pissed off (I was trying to get rental cars at other locations, but prices were exorbitant for the last minute) and other fellow passengers shared her anger. She also asked Mr Daniel why they couldn’t give us some other car. Finally we thought Mr Daniel was of no use for us, and approached Mr Francis whom we should have approached in the first place. Then Mr Francis quickly found out about our problem and asked Mr Daniel to give us any car. By the time we got our car, it was 2 pm, 2.5 hours after we were at the booth. We got a free upgrade but the ordeal was bad enough that the upgrade didn’t really matter at the end.
We just couldn’t understand how pathetic Mr Daniel was in understanding customer’s plight in broad daylight. I didn’t have any reason to rationalize his lack of professionalism.
I would never rent again with Fox rental, and this experience is shared with many of friends who were appalled at Fox employee’s pathetic service. Since they live in San Jose, they would probably be careful with Fox Rental.
If I were Francis, I would have put this Daniel guy on probation.

Strengths:
Cheaper price

Weaknesses:
Poor customer service.
Lack of professionalism
Ineffective management at the car booth.

Enterprise, Hertz are far better.

Review 3 of 5

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
I tried Fox rental car three times in the past two years. Once in San Diego, twice in San Francisco.

The customer service in San Diego is terrible. The waiting for the shuttle bus is very long even in a sunny afternoon. The waiting line in the rental office is very long. Also the representatives are very rude. So we canceled the reservation after talk with these rude representatives.

The customer service in San Francisco is better. The waiting line is very long too. But the representatives are very polite. But the thing we do not like Fox rental is they have a lot hidden traps. They are sharing your private information such as credit card info with some other 3rd party company without your knowledge. If you have a parking ticket, even if you paid the ticket, the 3rd party company will try to charge you 40$ service fee. So we stopped use Fox rental car service.

Strengths:
Price. A little bit cheaper than the big companies.

Weaknesses:
1. Long waiting lines in the rental office.
2. Long waiting time for the shuttle bus.
3. Rude representives in some area such as San Diego.
4. Some hidden traps. Sharing your info with 3rd party companies without your knowledge.

Review 4 of 5

Price Paid:  $69.00 from LAX

Summary:
By far the worst customer service I ever experienced in any line of business. They have really, really long lines, a shuttle bus with no air conditioning that we were left sitting on for 25 minutes in 93 degrees. Computers down continually and had to wait for over 15 minutes on returning.
Worst of all my personal property was stolen from my vehicle on returning the car before it was re-rented and they did not care AT ALL. I left over fifteen messages on customer service voice mail because there is no one to speak with; I did not receive a return call once. So, I tried corporate office and now I know where the LAX office got their training as they were no better. Bottom-line you get what you pay for and FOX is a definite NO for me going forward. Stick with one of the big guys who have customer service, lost and found departments and honest staff.

Strengths:
CHEAP in every sense

Weaknesses:
BAD, VERY, VERY BAD customer Service

Review 5 of 5

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
Small company with limited locations, but trying hard to be competitive with the big boys. Overall, a good company to rent a car or SUV from if available at your destination.

Strengths:
Customer service. Good competitive rates.

Weaknesses:
Not as organized or polished as the larger car rental companies. I've had to pick an alternate vehicle about 50% of the time whenever I go in to rent a car.
