Price Paid:  $76.00 from eBay

Year / Model Reviewed:
2003 Vega 154

Summary:
Ridiculous sub for the money. I modeled it in a 1.4 cube sealed box and didn't believe the amazing results until I got it in the car.

With a Linear Power 2202 bridged mono and a 1 Farad cap, it gets loud enough on bass tracks to cause me pain firing backwards in the trunk of an '05 Hyundai Elantra. I haven't measured it yet, but I'd bet at least 135db.

Impressive output for only about 350 watts RMS from the 2202 in a highly inefficient enclosure. Can't imagine what it would do vented with, say, a Linear Power 5002 at close to 1000x1.

I originally bought this sub to run aperiodic (lots of xmax, efficient, huge cone), but am too busy to build and tune that type of box right now. Went sealed temporarily after modeling things on the PC, and it's pretty amazing.

Strengths:
Great performance in a small, heavily stuffed sealed box. I listen to music with lots of electric bass (rock, jazz, acoustic) and with the 154 it's like being live at a venue, the bass compresses your chest and goes through you, it's merciless. Once I got surprised by a really powerful transient in an unfamiliar song while going down the highway and actually ducked. Good resolution too, distinct bass notes as opposed to just noise.

Weaknesses:
For the money, are you kidding?

Getting hard to find anymore.

Price Paid:  $40.00 from EBAY!!!!!

Year / Model Reviewed:
2001 vega 154

Summary:
when i purchased this i had it in a 1cf box with a 200 watt kenwood amp an it sounded great in my civic hatchback, then i had a costom built to specs box(its a monster 4.0 cu. ft. slotted box) but my amp killed over and i was running it off my 40 watts preamp on my deck, and that also sounded good with its spl rating at 96DB 1ft. 1watt. then i baught a 400 watts RMS profile amp andim hitting 141DB with one 15"!! im very happy with my Cerwin!!!

Strengths:
96SPL rating, good excursion, high power, and sound quality.

Weaknesses:
not very tight response, but still alright.needs alot of air space.

Similar Products Used:
jl 15w6, fusion 15", rockford Z 15"none of these compare besides the JL i would give them equal props.

Price Paid:  $146.00 from ice custom audio (eb

Year / Model Reviewed:
 Vega series 15" VEGA154

Summary:
I bought this sub after many months planning to get the perfect bass in my car. This sub is pretty loud but as far as thumping i would have to say that it just doesn''t happen. I don''t think it''s the subs fault it''s just that ported boxes(that are required) look better in statistics than they sound. I followed the box specs to the T and have a very nice setup with a fostgate amp 400rms (1/2 a 800.4) and a audiocontrol eqs and some other stuff as well. But i just don''t see the results that i thought were going to happen.

Strengths:
Loud clear bass, great frequency responce on all notes.

Weaknesses:
requires being in a ported box, doesn''t carry sound far no BOOMING 3 miles away. THe bass won''t travel through anything, as in: my back seat(i have a honda accord), windows (when up), buildings, walls, large animals. every little imperfection in any audio recording is noticable

Similar Products Used:
(4)12 MTX 6000''s (more thump) (2)12 MTX 6000''s (less thump) (3) MTX 10''s (not even close)
