Strength:

Excellent SQ for the price. You can spend much more for the same sound.

Weakness:

Need power. Don't think about these without at least a 250W amp.

These speakers are really amazing. If you are looking for a clear sound in your system, then check these out. I have gone thru 2 other sets 6 1/2" speakers in my Jeep Liberty. Sony (poor) and Kenwood (ok). These speakers blow them away. Worth every dollar in SQ. I am finally happy with my system. I have MTX subs with four of the 6 1/2" pollyglass. It sounds like the band is actually in my Jeep.

Strength:

SPL or SQ

Weakness:

lacks a bit of mid bass

System consists of Pioneer KEH-P5850, 2 Xtant 2140c with built in crossover 12db/octave"butterworth". I have them running at around 70 watts RMS with my Focal 165V, and a single Kicker solo baric L7 12" sub running at 280 RMS. Professionally installed in a Honda Civic Vtec 98 model. Best for SPL or SQ.

Strength:

Balanced sound, quick midbass, Smooth transition between mid and tweeter, PRICE!!!!!!!!!!

Weakness:

Tweeter is rather a pain to install in mounting cup.

Excellent!!!!!! I was using Kicker RS5's, not even close! Had a set of AVI's, see ya later AVI. Had the Quart RSD216, forget them. The Focals somehow blend everything together seamlessly. I am running 2 Kicker ZR240's to a set of Mb Quart RCW304 12 inch and the Focals. Never before have I heard music like this. I don't think the upgrade to the Kevlars would make a huge difference since they use the same tweeter. I'm sure you can achieve a better sound by spending double the price(that's what you would have to do to find better sound). Thank you Focal!!! You made me love my car stereo more than I could ever say.

Strength:

Strong highs and mids.

Weakness:

Large magnet may require customization for mounting.
Cross-over unit is simplistic.

The 165V are installed as front speakers in my Accord coupe and they are being powered by an Orion Extreme 500.4 amp connected to a Kenwood eXecelon KDC-X815 head unit.

I had a spacer placed into the mid-bass speaker mounts in the doors because the magnets were too large. Fortunately, the speaker grills still fit although not as snug as before. I am using the factory mounts and I feel that takes away from the full potential of these speakers. That's more of a weakness of Honda for placing the tweeters in the dash too far from the mid-bass than the Focals.

Over-all they are very good speakers although you may want to go with the Kevlars or Utopias for clearer highs, but that may be too bright for some people than.

Strength:

Smooth sounds, nice and loud, great mid-bass

Weakness:

The woofer is huge. I had to modify the door to get it back on there.

These things are great. I have them running at around 50 watts RMS and I think they are going to blow a whole in my door. Seriously though, they sound a lot better than I had expected. I had heard the Polykevlar several times in one of my friends cars and I knew I had to go with Focal. I would highly recomend these to anyone wanting to get their hands on a great set of components. There is no way they can be beat, especially for the price.

Strength:

SQ, detail, warm sound, price/performance ratio

Weakness:

None

The Polyglass series in the 6.5" are an excellant choice for people who want to step up to the SQ of Focal without having to spend a bundle. I found that they had a little more midbass than the other series but it's not as clear as the Kevlars or Utopias. In my car (convertible) probably wouldn't have noticed a huge difference anyways. Definitely a long term investment as they've got 5 year warranties & are built to last. Highly, highly recommended. Couldn't find anything that sounded as good in this price range or even higher price range.

Strength:

clarity, midbass looks, price

Weakness:

brightness, take some time to get used to it..

I had them installed yesterday, and after alot of listening i am extremely pleased.
I was initially looking at the alpine ddd, boston acoustics etc, but they all sounded muffled once i heard the clarity of the focals.
I have them running at 50wrms..they are plenty loud enough, yet retain s.q all the way..I am yet to add the sub, which will be the 27v polyglass, and will add the polyflex coaxials for rear fill...I am currently only running the factory rear speakers(cheap pioneers), so can vouch for their sound alone as i have faded out the rears almost entirely
I am hugely impressed with their quality/price ratio...cant go wrong with these...they beat alot of more expensive speakers in almost every department.

Strength:

Mids are great! The titanium tweeters are very clean and loud but not too harsh. These speakers are even a great deal at their full retail of $380.

Weakness:

The x-overs are the only thing I'd like to see improved but for the money, they're pretty good x-overs.

I can't describe how good these sound, especially for the money. They are not harsh like MBQuarts and the drivers are much better than the MB's. I'm getting the utopia 165w's put in in two days and moving these to the back of my 95 civic coupe. I can't wait to hear how good the utopias are in comparison to these because these already sound close to perfect. BTW I'm powering them with an eclipse 3322 right now(pretty clean), but I'm getting a USAmps usa-1000x to power the utopias. Gotta have clean components all around if you want to maximize your SQ.

I had Boston Rally drivers and Infinty reference tweets and these are a MAJOR upgrade for me. A few of my friends have MBQ's and they are way too harsh.
