Model Reviewed: 2 competition 12's

Strength:

loud and easily powered... distinctive sound differences for frequencies and accurately produces intended sounds from music.... insanely hard to distort unless you add too much power to them... more of a mature sounding sub in terms of sounds quality with a vibrant kick if wanted

Weakness:

plain look.. deep and requires a fair sized box to make a decent sound.. but if done right, they sound amazing

could quite possibly be the best subs ever... no lies.. i baught USED 2 12 in boston acoustic 12 in competition series subs with 2 alpine MRD-M301 amps and a rockford fosgate 1 farad capacitor for 350 off ebay and was amazing. i also have the pro series componant 6.5's in the back and 5.5's in the front with an alpine head unit... to power the speakers, planet audio 100x4 amp... the subs are the best part of the system... they don't need the power that you think to run... they kick with about 300w going to each... could be one of the loudest systems around... with definetly the best quality sound because that was ultimate goal

Strength:

-wicked sub for us non bass heads -sound quality -bostons reputation

Weakness:

I don''t like to read review where people have this wicked sub hooked up to those cheap kenwood 600watt amps them complain about the subs lacking performance. You are what you eat and thats the same for a sub, you give it $hit power it will give $hit sound.

I am very impressed with this sub, it has went beyond all my expectations. I am 32 years old and have heard many stereos in my day and I boston has the best sounding speakers going. I have2 of these subs in my 97 ford explorer running off of a major powerful rockford bd 1000.1. The reason I chose this amp is not to over power and blow my subs my to have tons of control over them so every musical note is tight and exact. Not to mention I don''t listen to my music loud enough to blow these because I don''t feel like ruining my hearing. For anyone who wants a ground pounder that can realy shake, look somewhere else. But for the rest of us this is a ideal sub. I have mine in a nice fiberglass enclosure and I have all boston pro series mids and tweets to compliment this sub. I would recomend meeting or over powering this sub just to get the most of the sound quality, but if you like me and have the overpowered watch out you don''t blow the because it will be very easy.

Strength:

Best qualities would have to be power handling and how it manages to continuosly put out a clear sound with little to no distortion at all.And offcourse how can I forget the gut shaking bass that it inflicts on anyone that steps into my bass machine of a car. Also the appearance of the sub is awsome. Another thing that got me is finding out that they have a 2ohm sub.

Weakness:

Could not find any.

I purchased two of these bad boys about a month ago,and right about now I am deaf and my poor little Grand Am is falling apart. I am honestly immpressed with this sub and its ability to take a hell of a pounding that I am giving it with Rockford 800a II. In my opinion these ar by far the best subs I have ever had in my stereo history. With them I reached an astonishing 161.6db in a local comp. I love these things.

I compared it to Lightning Audio DVC's and Rockford Fosgate HE2. Boston's killed them.

Strength:

This sub can handle constant bass, and hits pretty deep.

Weakness:

1000 watts peak?! yeah right! Read the review summary. I read they don't require alot of space to go deep, in certain situations maybe, but in most situations, they cry for it.

I had just installed my 2 1200's, and they are being powered by my Crossfire BMF 1000D amp, and both are bridged at only 500 watts. In only the third day, one of the subs blew out. I don't believe they should do that, they peak at 1000 watts (supposedly), and only putting 250 watts per sub.... somethings wrong with that picture! Imagine if I dropped the ohms. Also I hear they make the 2ohm, dual voice coil version; how come I have yet to see it?
Go head and buy them, it's a good deal with the price. I kind of want to sell them, but that's because i'm going to get 2 Kicker Solobariqs L12's.

Strength:

The nice and hard sound quality it gives out and at any level of volume. It hits extremely hard in such a small enclosure which can fool you but you will be surprised on how hard and clear it sounds.

Weakness:

None

They will outperform pretty much any other sub out there because of their great quality and of course their show stopping performance, which I have proved before and only having had them for such a short period of time. And believe me there will be much more of that stunning performance to be shown from these Boton's. I have 2 of these Boston subs in my car, and trust me they hit hard ass hell. I am feeding them all they really need, which is 500 watts per sub of a top performance amp, not just any crap. Trust me if you want to get noticed and have people trying to see who you are because you're music sounds so good then theres only one thing to do. GET THESE SUBS!!!

Similar Products Used:

Nothing compares to these Boston subs. I was even impressed by the performance of these subs. I did not expect to get so much power or clarity from a sub. And I have heard quite a few amount of subs in my time. And come I'm from L.A. verybody bumps their music around here. You don't even get a ticket for bumping you're music loud as hell here. You get a ticket if you don't bump it or if you have a crappy as system that sounds lilke nothing but s***.

Strength:

Good tight bass, afordable

Weakness:

Would of liked to have the RMS rating, blew up at 700 watts peak.

I blew mine up. I don't know how. There is no RMS rating and I put 500 watts RMS at 4 ohms mono on mine, and it blew-up. I did not peak it, its peak is a 1,000 watts, and I put about 700 watts peak on it, and now it sounds terrible, would of liked to know the RMS rating, but could not find it anywhere, Boston owes me a new one, for not supplying the criticle information I needed.
