Summary: I would not normally advertise for a company
but I have recently had a really amazing customer service experience
Car insurance commercials are a plague in between the shows we watch on tv
some of them are entertaining... but that is about the extent of it
lots of gimmicks with interesting characters like the gecko or "Flo the cashier"
well... I have a lot to say about my recent experience with my car insurance company, Progressive
I LOVE PROGRESSIVE
after my car wreck last Thursday I was in a lot of pain and very stressed about what would happen to my car, my health, the impact it would have on my daily life, bills, medical costs etc.. etc...
thank you to Progressive my life is so much more pleasant and less stressful at this point
I called to make a claim the next day with their claims department. I was not on hold very long and did not have to talk to 20 million computer voices while pressing buttons before I could speak to a person.
The gentleman was very courteous and went above and beyond in his empathy and consideration. He expressed concern for my well being and the outcome of the accident. Sure this is his job, but phone service representatives usually just do what is required of them with very little positive affect in their voice or attitude. He asked what had happened and the whole time had a very sincere concerned tone "Oh wow, that is awful... you are so lucky it wasn't worse...thank goodness you are ok etc... "
regardless of his actual concern he was very calming and helpful
he provided any contact numbers I may need and explained the full process of taking care of my claim. He located the nearest body shop for me and called them with me on the line to make the earliest appointment at my convenience. He constantly made sure everything was clear, simple, and without any problems. He provided me with a number to call him directly if I should have any issues.
It continued to be an easy and smooth process...
When I arrived at the body shop the progressive representative promptly called the rental service then proceeded to go over the damages of the car with me while taking clear photos and checking every little detail. They listened carefully and also seemed concerned.
The representative from Hertz arrived very quickly and drove me to the rental location. They were also friendly and clearly explained every part of the rental and what part Progressive covered as well as what my options were with gas, daily insurance etc... Daily insurance for the rentals was usually $25.00 to cover any damage that may occur to the vehicle while in your possession. However, because I was there through Progressive, it only cost me $12.99 daily. This meant that no matter what happened to the vehicle, from a small scratch to it being totaled, I was only responsible for that $12.99 and not held liable. Progressive would also call and extend the rental for me if necessary, so I simply get the keys to a car equivalent to my own or more and drive it for as long as I need. I ended up with an 08 Ford Fusion with dash board controls on the steering wheel, a navigation system, sirius satellite radio, and an in dash 6cd player :) and get to drive it for the length of my repair at no cost to me accept gas and the optional daily insurance.
and there is more...
Saturday another representative from Progressive called me. This time an equally kind and considerate woman. She was the one to handle my injuries and personal health coverage. She explained that Progressive will cover 80% of all costs including my x-rays, ambulance ride, ER fees, Cat Scan, and even prescriptions. They would file all the paperwork with the hospital then send paperwork to my health insurance company for the remaining balance. All I had to do was. send them copies of my prescription receipts. She expressed concern and told me not to "over-do-it" at work and to call her if I needed help with anything. She also told me she would call me in a few days to see how I was feeling. Even better, Progressive is reimbursing me for the days I missed at work due to the accident, all I had to do was send copies of my last two paychecks, they even phoned my manager at work for me.
This is not my first positive experience with Progressive, last time I just needed some body work after a car battery was left in the road and destroyed my front fender...they had the same great service with a rental...but this time with the medical issues they just knocked my socks off with amazing customer service.
in short...
if it is in your budget to switch car insurance companies, I strongly suggest looking into rates for Progressive. They are one of the less expensive companies and they also have included pet insurance for your pets traveling with you along with motorcycle, RV, Boat, and other types of insurance.
their kindness and amazing guest service has won me over
it may be their job, but they do it well and I feel safer and more at ease because of it
it benefits them too because their customer's will return and tell other's like I just have...so anyway... if you want to be worry free in a situation that can be devastating, Progressive can help!
Weaknesses: I wish they had insurance for everything like houses and health! They are incredible.

Summary: Last November I switched to Progressive and the day my policy changed, I was in a 5 car pile up. After I filed my claim, Progressive contacted me, sent out a representative, and got an estimate on the damage. They sent me a check immediately for the amount over my $1000 deductible, then they sent out another check to cover my deductible after they got the insurance information from the driver at fault. When I took my car to get if fixed, it turned out to be nearly twice the estimated amount, which they also payed for. Progressive was great - no hassle, no headaches. They took care of everything and I didn't have to pay for any damage done to my vehicle.
Strengths: Customer service
efficiency - I had my car fixed and payed for in no time at all
Weaknesses: None so far

Summary: I know how much everyone hates insurance companies, but they are just doing their jobs-to make profit. Just check out reviews for every insurance companies out there and you will pretty much see the same complaints.
On that note Progressive has been pretty good to me so far. I went to the movies and when I came out I had damage to my car. It looked like some skater wiped out into on my rear liftgate. Called Progressive the next day and filed a claim (Sunday) and rep called back Monday. Took car in Wednsday/ picked up rental. Car was done Tuesday (it was memorial weekend so sat-mon don't count) Paid deductible and picked up car. Pretty hassle free experience.
Strengths: -Convenience
-Concierge Service
-Price/Coverage
Weaknesses: None so far...But I haven't been involved in a MAJOR accident (knock on wood)

Summary: I see a lot of people posting bad things about Progressive and not so many good reviews, so I wanted to give my opinion of the company. In January of 2008, I hit a median on a major highway and totaled my car. It was Jan 2nd to be exact (happy new year to me!). Anyways, I called the same night and opened the claim.e The rep was VERY helpful and said that my agent will be contacting me in the morning. My agent called me in the morning around 9 and told me that Enterprise will be picking me up around 10:30am. They came and picked me up and I was given a Buick Lucerne, which despite my feelings for Buicks was rather nice. Everything was done at about 12pm.
The next day, I received a call from my agent telling me they had the car trucked over to one of their estimation facilities and the damage was estimated at least $9000, which was more than the car was worth bluebook value. They told me where the car was so I could go pick anything out of it that I wanted and said if there was anything on the car I paid for like maintenance or parts in the last 12 months, bring them the receipt and they will work out a reimbursement (though I didn't have any).
It was time to look for a new car, decided to go with a truck. I got the check for the total loss from Progressive (minus the $500 deductible), which they gave directly to the bank I had the loan with. Since I was working over the weekend, I asked if they could extend the rental car a couple of days so I could go get a car after the weekend. They extended it with no questions asked. I got my truck and faxed over the bill of sale to my agent so he could issue me a check for the sales tax of the totaled car, which is a law in Ohio (I think it's only a state law, not sure).
The only reason I gave Progressive a 4/5 rating is because that check they issues me for the sales tax was issued on Jan 18th, and I didn't get it till May. The reason is, someone at the bank or someone (unknown as to who it actually was or how it happened) stole my check and cashed it. My agent worked with me to file a claim on that. They worked with the bank to get the money credited back to them FINALLY, then issued me another check. This time I picked up the check from their office :-)
Strengths: * Great customer service
* Fair reimbursement of total loss
* Works with you
* Pleasant experience
Weaknesses: * Pay a bit more per month (especially since the accident), but you get what you pay for.

Summary: I had enough of paying high rates with progressive after a year. I originally went to them cause they are the only ones who carry dui drivers. After the dui came off my record I was going to switch insurance companies. In april of 2007 I received a letter in the mail to renew my policy in a month, ummmmm nope.... I switched to state farm. I now almost a year later am now receiving calls from a collection agency , first stating they were renewal charges, and now they say they are cancellation charges. Well the law in my state says they need to give you 60 day notice of cancellation to cancel which I never received before the renewal , second they told me it was for the renewal, well the letter said payment due on this date for renewal, guess what I did not pay it why renew it under your own agreement? I would and will never recommend progressive to anyone, not for any reason. watch your back
Strengths: NONE
Weaknesses: everything they do is a lie.. and they will charge you for something you dont want
