Price Paid:  $28000.00 from Driveway dodge

Year / Model Reviewed:
2007 jeep wrangler unlimited

Summary:
Its a very good productt very durable and strong off roading abilities as expected. Through the first 4-5 months i was getting awesome mileage on it about 16-5-17 mpg but after that i noticed its gone down to 15mpg city. The V-6 is good but considering it is a 4 door "SUV" a V-8 would be lovely. Off roading capabilities outstanding!!! I have taken it out to Santa Teresa, NM and red sands in EL Paso Tx, and it performs excellent.

Strengths:
Off roading and comfortness

Weaknesses:
V-6 and Mileage

Similar Products Used:
Jeep 2001 4x4 / performs the same unsure of the mileage comparison

2007 wrangler 4 door black hard/soft top

Summary:
i took the 2006 4 a test drive and thought OK, then took the 2007 4 a drive and loved it. After ordering it and getting the finance for it i have had it 4 about 48 hrs now and have driven about 200km. it is a good looking vehicle with heaps of people glancing at it on the road. In Aust there are not to many on the road as yet but delivery is slow so dont expect to see to many for at least 6 months.
i will give my thoughts from each prospectus of the veh.
INSIDE; It feels very sturdy and everything is at arms reach, the seats are hard when driving but you feel very safe in it. initialy i was worried about the vision you get from inside the veh as the little rear view mirror was not what i was used to, however after a day it did not seem to be of such great importance. the rear seat head rest impedes the view to the rear quite abit so after removing it i found it a lot better. The bells and whistles when you put your keys in is very annoying, you have to be in your seat with your seat belt on with the doors closed before you even place the key in, these noises are going to bother me, i know it safety but come on this to me seems a little of an overkill, i have no choice but to get used to it, i am going to see about getting some slight modification on removing some, try it for yourself. The lights turn on when you activate the open door switch on the entry key, this could be something that i have set up with the light switch on the indicator arm, i have however suffered the male sydrome with not reading the instructions first, i have just turned things and pressed things to see what they do, i will be interested in others comments. I have also placed hand grips on the roll cage in both the drivers and passenger side front and these are great application but a little tacky in appearance, very practicable though. i have not tried to take the whole roof off the vehicle but i have removed the two front panels and found it to be very easy, however once you take them off you get a very true representation of just how big they are, in a windy day you could find yourself picking it up off the ground once you remove it from the roof.
OUTSIDE: it looks fantastic, especially when you have the maxium allowed tinting on all the windows, the rugged appearance has been commented on already numerous times as that resembling a Hummer, in fact i call mine the mini Hummer as in Mini Me, The rear door iopens from the left to the right, which would be great in USA, but in Aust with the cant of the road it will be a little bother when trying to keep the rear door open when pulled over the side of the road. The bonnet latches are aall good except if you where to park it somewhere and someone needed a battery for instance it would take them no time to remove yours from your vehicle, and someone could easily set your veh up for problems by dropping something in the engine or something, i havent reaserched as yet about bonnet locks but it is high on my agenda.

Strengths:
the looks, the feel on the road, the sturdyness, the safety,

Weaknesses:
the bonnet lack of locks. the length of the "nose" of the veh, the slight shudder on take off in first gear, you may as i have stalled it a couple of times getting used to it, after 48 hrs i am just getting the hang of it now. with the tech these days a digital speed display would have topped the instruments off well.

Price Paid:  $23000.00 from Meador Jeep in Fort

Year / Model Reviewed:
2007 Wrangler X 2DR

Summary:
This is the 2007 model. It came with the new hardtop and soft top. I traded my 2004 Xterra for this. Gas mileage seems to be on par with what I was getting in my Nissan. I will not complain about the mileage, it is a Jeep. The new one is wider and longer. It rides better than my Xterra did and compared to the outdated motor I had in that thing this has plenty of power. It sits taller and is more comfortable inside. The one I bought has everything you can get except electric locks and power windows. I relly do not see the need in that for a Jeep. I did elect to get the automatic due to a shoulder injury that may require more surgey and I would not be able to shift. The Infiniti stereo rocks, it is better than the Rockford that was in my X. I have found driving this on the road to be very comfortable. It seems to take the rough roads a little better than my Xterra did.

I did like my Nissan but I was a little tourqed that right after I bought it Nissan totally redid the thing. I was impressed with the new ones except for the way they looked. They seemed to have gone more urban than the old body style like I had. I had driven Jeeps back in the day and loved them so I figured now was good time to go back to the roots. This is truly a off road vehicle, so comparing it the local soccer moms kiddie transport is not justice. Jeeps can be made to suit your personality with an abudance of aftermaket parts, and it seems no matter what someone does to one it looks pretty darn cool. It is a unique vehicle and there really is no other SUV on the market in this price range to compare it to. The new ones really are totally changed. Hardcores may find the new look a little hard to get used to. The debate about the new engine will go on. I found at highway speeds the RPMs stay down compared to the older ones. The engine seems fine to me. It accelerates well and runs very well on the road. I drove it today at speeds of 70 or so and it cruised like a champ. The new stabilty control and other gadgets may or may not make all that difference but keeping in mind how the government is making safer vehicles mandatory I give cudos to Jeep for redesigning an ICON and leaving it alone enough that it still says Jeep when you see it. I have heard people belly aching about to much plastic. Go to any car lot and look at all of the models there, they all seem like they were recycled with old coke bottles. The uspside if it breaks it should be easier and cheaper to replace. The added room behind the passenger seat is ample but not great compared to my Xterra, but then again it is a Jeep.

The bottom line is I bought this to get back in a Jeep. I do not carry about the cargo space or other options that other SUVs are hashing it out to make a dollar. I bought it for the freedom that Jeeps offer, for the abiltu to add any number of parts to it to make it my Jeep. It is like having a Harley, there is something about the freedom and adventure it brings you. If you ever had a Jeep or still have one you will not be disappointed with the new one. Styles are changing and Jeep is trying to compete in this ever growing market withou breaking our hearts. They did a good job on this model. They made it more road friendly and in the process created a very capable off road vehicle where it will shine the most and leave the others behind. They turn on a dime and can drive through the eye of a needle. Either u get or u don't. My Nissan was a capable off road vehicle to, but it does not hold a candle to this. At least Jeep took into consideration all of the loyal Jeep Freaks out there when they replotted the course of the Wrangler. I love this Jeep. I know compared to Nissan and Toyota relabilty may be a concern. I still see plenty of older Jeeps on the road and they seem to be doing fine. People alwya look at a Jeep whe u go by, deep down inside they all think to themselves, thats a pretty cool vehicle. Not every vehicle is suited for everything we do, but as Jeep owenrs we adapt and overcome and our Jeeps suit our needs, yeah there are times I say to myself I wish I had more room, so I just pile another piece of equipment on top of some more and get in and crank her up and hit the trail. If u are thinking about getting a Jeep go test drive one, you will know its for u when the big grin comes across ur face. Then you will be on your way to understanding ONLY IN A JEEP. Rock-on.

Strengths:
It is more stable, more room in the front where it matters. The interrior is great. The stereo rocks, free sattelite radio for a year and u can plug you MP3 into it, the windows are tinted so dark that u caqn not really tell if anyone is in it. The hardtop configures in several ways and is light. The interior offers a very relaxed and kicked back style. It is modern but still Jeep. I like the added curves here and there to the exterrior and they are minor enough that unless u are a hardcore Jeep owner they really are not that noticeable. I know this everywhere I go people want to check it out. The main thing is it is still a Jeep. I t is like a piece of clay that u can mold and wrok with to customize however u want to.

Weaknesses:
My only complaint is I wish Jeep would mount the spare tire about 2 inches higher so i can fold up my back rack. But as stated above I adapted with some bungee cords to hold the bike rack in the upright position by attaching the cord to the spare wheel and the frame of the rack. I bike to much to keep taking it on and off. Somebody start making aftermarket parts for these things. The only other complaint why change the bolt pattern to 5 on 5, I missed that meeting. Try and find some wheels right now, I ordered some and it is going to take 2 weeks to get them. Oh well, it is worth all of the above.

Similar Products Used:
Nissan Xterra-I think they may have lost sight of there original everything u need and nothing u don't slogan.

The old style Toyota FJ. Talking about messing up an ICON. If you are going to try and reinvent history at least make it seem like the ICON it once was. I test drove the new one, no way! The old one we had truly was the closet thing to Jeep out there and it rocked.
