Price Paid:  $192.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2001

Summary:
This is a great piece to fix equalization problems that could lead to better listening experiences and higher RTA scores in competition. It fits right in the dash taking only 1/2 DIN space. I really like that all 5 bands are parametric. It helped me to especially eqaualize my mids and highs together.

My sytem
Kenwood Excelon KDC-X817
Precision Power PAR-245
U.S. Amps US-X2R
2 U.S. Amps PT-350 amps
U.S. Amps PT-1100
2 MBQuart QSD 216 component sets
JL Audio HO215R-W3 enclosure
2 SVR 100-12 batteries
Alumapro C.A.P. 15
Lightning Audio wires and accesories

Strengths:
fits in dash
parametric bands
master volume control
easy installation

Weaknesses:
uses switches to change frequency centers

Similar Products Used:
audio control four.1
I like the PAR-245 a little better, although they are very similar

Summary:
I think this is one of the best EQ's you could own for your car.in fact in general i am not a big fan of EQ's......but this piece is truly an audiophile product....while in the defeat mode it is absolutely silent.and when it is used to EQ my system it is flawless....most highly recomended if you are looking for a 1/3 octave EQ.

Summary:
i purchased a deq-230 about two years ago. it worked great for about 2 months. then during a system upgrade it just failed to power up. i double checked everything but to no avail. i sent it back to PPI but due to the dealer it took five months to get back to me. anyway about five months after i got it back (11 months if you count the six month deployment to the persian gulf) the left channel started to fade on a few frequencies so... i sent it back again. this time i traded it for an audiocontrol EQX. the poor guy i traded it to has the same problem. PPI failed to fix the problem.
