1995 Ford Taurus SHO - Supercharged Summary:
I was a little leery about buying a floating caliper for my 3,300lbs Ford Taurus with 460hp. I have had plenty of scares with brake fade with other cars and did not want to deal with that again. The kit I purchases was actually the PBR “Track” 13” x 1.1”brakes that are found stock on the ‘94+ Mustang Cobra, Bullit, and Mach 1. In addition, these calipers were also used on early ‘90s Corvettes (pictured). The set I have look slightly different (not ribbed) and I had the “Cobra” machined off and “SHO” etched in.
My friend had the same kit, but it was shaved down to a 12” setup with Hawk HP-Plus pads and never had problems with brake fade. His brake were not lightly used either. He was also pushing a 3,300lbs car around road courses.
When I finally decided to upgrade my brakes after adding more power, I had experience with using the brakes from my friends. I also did some research to find other peoples experiences as well as looked at some test information that showed the PBR aluminum, 2-piston caliper actually performed just as well and even better than some 4-piston calipers!
Once I worked out a rotor issue I had, the brakes performed phenomenally with Hawk HP-Plus pads and some cooling ducts (also directional vanes). Not only do I have street use and canyon-run use on them, but I have tracked them on a VERY brake-heavy road course. I’m not a professional race car driver, but I know how to push a car around track and I am very hard on brakes. I was able to hang with Porsches, NSX’s Lamborghini’s, etc in braking through out complete sessions. This has been the choice of brakes for supercharged SHO’s in Colorado. One guy thought he was going to have to swap on his Wilwood kit from his street SC SHO to his track SC SHO but found that the PBR’s performed just as well.
I highly recommend these brakes. You’ll see these brakes on MANY different cars and there’s a reason why, they rock.

Bang-for-the-buck, hands down! 13" x 1.1" aluminum 2-piston caliper. It also has dust boots, but I've already burnt off 3 of the 4 already. Time for powder coating and a rebuild :-) Weaknesses:
They may not be a 4+ piston, fixed caliper, but they definitely hold their own. <--I guess that's not really weakness. Similar Products Used:
