AEM's Big Rotor Brake Kit allows for use of the Original Equipment (O.E.) brake caliper, making it the most affordable big rotor system on the market. AEM's rotors have an average 20-percent larger surface area and can reduce a vehicle's stopping distance by up to 33 percent. These oversized rotors also increase brake torque for reduced pedal effort and have a greater thermal capacity that extends performance during continuous hard braking. Venting and drilling was a key consideration in the engineering process of the rotors and ensures maximum heat dissipation for reliable, consistent braking. The utilization of CNC-machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum rotor hats diminishes the rotor's tendency to cup under extreme prolonged use and reduces the overall weight of the rotor when compared to cast versions.
Summary: This is probably the worst thing I have ever purchased for my car. To start, on the 97 accord, I have a captive system. This means install is a pain in the butt. I had to have some one else install the brakes for me. The instructions were not correct for my style of brakes. After 3 months of use the rotors warped and I had to had them turned. There's a major amount of overhang on the pads and my worry is not the reduction of surface area, but what happens when the pad where down enough to touch each other? Can we say accident waiting to happen? Thank god I've had more problems with them and can warant the expense of replacing them with Brembo. All in all, I have over $1500 invested in trying to make this kit work. What a waste.

Weaknesses: instructions, install, price, poor quality, design, waste of time, effort, and money.

Summary: installed in 20 minutes. very easy install everything fit perfectly. instructions not even needed. stopping performance is way better especially with ABS. if you want to stop better for the least amount of money this is the way to go. i think the black looks nice. fills up 17" rims nicely.

Strengths: Why spend 3+ times the money when you can get decent braking cheaply here? Relative to other brake kits, this is the best bang for the buck. Low marginal price for increased performance.
Weaknesses: Crappy Instructions for the newbies, doesnt look good as a complete brake kit, but still looks way better than stock. new 1 piece design a bit on the heavy side.

0-60 time is about 5 seconds and i bet my 60-0 is about the same...

Summary: Bog rotor kit bolted on with no problem, everything was straightforward. After installation was complete, I wore in the rotors carefully for a day, then I really hit the brakes. Holy Cow! they stop super fast. They look great in my 17" OZ wheels. There is very noticable improvement over stock, and the ABS still works.I dont plan on ever going back to stock. I read another review on the big rotor system, I had none of the problems he did....
Strengths: Great looks, high performance braking, easy install.
Weaknesses: Only available in black now, oh well, they look good on my car.

Summary: Ok, let me make one thing clear with this kit, IT IS A JOKE!
OK, lets start with the 1st problem. Who the hell writes directions for AEM? It is rather obvious who ever wrote the directions didn''''''''t care that caliper mounting brakets for EK Civics aren''''''''t the easiest thing to find or the cheapest.
After I cut the caliper mounting brakets per AEM instructions (yes thats right, you cut them!), I found out that they were wrong. OK, not a problem... until I had to order 2 new Calipers from Honda at the low cost of $135 each.
Install time! Not quite... this is where things get more fun. After cuttin the caliper mounting brakets per MY instructions, I noticed a disturbing thing. Th pads hang over the edge of the brake rotor. :oP AEM has this to say, "Due to the differing radii of the O.E. caliper and the AEM 12" rotor, there will be a slight amount of brake pad overhang. Compared with the increase of torque generated by the larger moment arm (rotor), the reduction of the brake pad swet area is insignificant". This is disconcerning.
I have yet to drive my car with this brake kit and for some odd reason I don''''''''t think I will. (Brembo anyone?)
